Discontinued The Sublimator

The sub just does such a thorough extraction that maybe the abv does not contain that many actives. The sub extracts better than any of my other vapes by far.

I've noticed this as well...I can usually take my duff from other units, and vape them to a nut brown and still get more out of it by vaping in a conduction unit...but with the sublimator, there is very little left. Interesting indeed.

Ok i have my Sub tatoo too on the elbow! So baked that i did not avoid heavy burning myself. I now have a very precise disposition for subbing with mercury set and heavy plumber torch.

What an heavy extraction, punch in the face.
I find even just straight herb hits are insane to take in in one hit. I like that I can heat up 0.1g twice and get 8 medium hits or heat it up once and get 2 biiiiiiig hits. The UFO has a great ability to be passed around. Feels good to heat it up then sit back in my couch and take 2-4 hits not hunched over a table/bong.

Doesn't look like I will get to cooking tonight. Probably have at least 200g of volcano and sublimator abv to cook with for this batch.

Just turned sublimator up and $he hit 54 watts! Double deckers for everyone.!!!!

I need that UFO.

If anyone wants to watch I made a video of a whole late night session....minus a 2min warm up time. Didn't want you too be too bored. Double decker at the end, as usual! Excuse the coughing....this thing gives huge hits I can't resist....and ya I'm using water...I did dry for a bit but comon' I bought my bubblers to use water in, and it's an option......so ya I'm gunna use water...it also helps with stability on some pieces.....anyways heres the vid..

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Jebus... I think I'd have passed out or puked myself even before the double decker. 'I' dont need (or want, lol) to indulge in that much intake to get where 'I' need to be........ KUDOS to YOU 'AQUALUNG'/aka:shredhead :freak:

For anyone wanting an easier, bigger hit try a medium solo screen instead of the stock sub screen.
I just cleaned and tried a stock sub screen after using the solo screen for a few weeks. No comparison for me. After using that solo screen the stock sub screen seems very restrictive. What a difference!!

You mind making a 'How to' vid on the initial 2 min warm up?

It would be a short video if it only takes you 2 mins:

Where do you aim the torch?

For how long on each spot?

How do you decipher that it has reached optimal temp?

Where do you aim and how long for reheats?

Theres tons of usage videos on the web but the instructional variety seems kinda sparse.

Hey Sub culture! I've been reading up on the sublimator since the original thread when there were many doubters.

It seems like it gives massive hits but it still befuddles me that people adore it so much because it seems extremely technical and warm up times are longer than some of the newer logs.

When I spend a pretty penny on a vaporizer I want it to be simple yet efficient, can keep up with any draw speed (very important!) a heavy hitter and easy to use. Undoubtedly, the sub is a heavy hitter but it's far from a "plug n play" device.

I'm in the market for another vaporizer and I want to like the sublimator but for the price, it seems like you need a tutorial and a zen master to get it right. Sub culture I'm not trying to knock it AT ALL but I figured I'd voice my opinion and get some valid input on what I may be missing.

You are missing the point completely if you are comparing it to vaporizing but you would be forgiven since detailed information on the process of whats happening is non-existent.

From my understanding, I do not claim to be an expert or even fully understand whats going on, the initial step is vaporizing but then it goes through another process(the word being thrown around is gassification) which changes the vapor into something that can be more readily absorbed. What this means to you is that you will get higher since you can absorb more from the same amount of material. Also, the Sublimator produces a lot of oil as a by-product of the patented process which you can use to take double decker hits(oil+flowers).

honestly i'd say it's more plug and play than any device i've used (when left on.)
it's actually why i prefer it over the cloud. no bowls to load, just scoop, hit and dump.

the only "technical" part i've found is dialing in ur temp (which you have to do an almost all vapes) and avoiding the hot parts, (and even i have stopped burning myself)

my two cents

Thanks for your input man. Nevertheless, I understand the process of the sublimator and how the vapor passes thru the atomizer which seems to be the magic in the sub. Even so, I still classify as a vaporizer.

@Bob Loblaw
Thanks dude! That makes sense as I'm a cloud enthusiast and I love the simplicity of the elb and how it is a plug and play friendly so to speak. The videos of watching the sub is a little intimidating as there is a bunch of metal and it's all foreign to me. I really need to try the sub to see what I'm missing!

This thing is a vaporizer. Gassification? I don't know what that is. The best explanation I've heard about what's going on is vaporization that is then run through a heated downstem, which traps the bigger particles but allows the smaller ones to pass through making the hit smoother. These bigger goblets end up as reclaim oil.

Is there a patent out there yet? I think it is just pending, but I don't know for sure.

It's been established for awhile now, that it isn't any sort of special, yet unstudied process. Sticks pretty much sums it up.

That being said, I get much more pleasure out of using this unit, than most of the vapes in my collection. I have no intention of picking up anymore desktop vapes for a while...I feel that satisfied with the performance.

**Disclaimer...if I do happen to get another desktop, it's just because I am a gadget freak :D

From what I can tell the sublimator offers the best one-hit extraction in the game. It's very simple to use, but it is operationally different from other vapes. It's also unique in that it features it's own rite of passage: by the time the burn on your arm heals, you're an expert!

I would say that its one drawback is that there's no fucking way to disguise the sublimator's purpose; it's not gonna pass muster as an aromatherapy device or a table lamp.

lol one of my friends asked if I was making meth, when they saw the launch tube. A bit of an extreme assumption, but it does look like a chemistry set, I suppose

Anyone who tries my sublimator, is sold after the first hit. I have even completely wrecked a guy with super high tolerance, with just a couple of small bowls.

This... That seems to describe the process quite well. When I removed the heated down-stem, I got a less filtered result.

It's easy.....one minute of torch on JUST the top. I hold it with pliers.
Then put the heater on the atty and torch the atty and RIM of heAter for another 30seconds
Then torch the rod in the middle for 30 seconds...up to temp.

I take my first hit to check heat then you torch from 10-30 seconds between hits. Keep giving the whole setup torching but keep it concentrated on the rod mostly.

Oh and torch the bottom of the rod unless taking a dab, then you'll want the whole rod hot..

I'd say its one MAJOR drawback is that its a fire hazard. and for the price it should be safer designed.

I really like the hits/and extraction it gave me that 1 day I used it before the heater stand knocked over and it melted my carpet.
I scraped that off but havent used it since.
I wouldnt risk inhaling melted carpet fumes left behind anyways.
That is why I went silent in this thread about a month back.

Seriously guys, the one warning you should be giving is how dangerous of a fire hazard this thing is. and with that said it is totally possible to be responsible with it too.

ooooohh...what was that like? Did you get the fuller spectrum you seek?

It helps. Mostly solved my issues. I don't use it very often though because it is not the most easy thing to handle when you take the heated downstem off you can't use the bottom handle very easily. So I use a pair of oven gloved to handle the bowl.
