The box is too small. I have a therion. When taking the battery in a out the top of the battery rubs against the top.of the box. Maybe the paranormal is set up different but I have seen others with lost Vapes write up similar issues.

While the bottom of the Paranormal opens to easily insert batteries the Triad is a PIA to exchange batteries.

My triade has an issue with some fake 25r's that I have fitting in well but no issue with legit 30Qs or HB4's.

Lost vape is awesome but the way the battery box is set up makes it so I destroy my batteries. Have to rewrap them quite often.

Looks similar to the Steam Engine battery door, they are a nightmare indeed. My Reuleaux DNA250 can also tear batteries as you have to push it up compressing the negative connection post then slide into position at the bottom. I wonder why liquid vapers never talk about this in reviews...

RX GEN3 is the best, a hinged battery door that gets out the way and you just drop in batteries. Gimme a GEN3 with DNA chip, no other changes!

Edit: using legit VTC6's from Ecolux

If anyone can catch the IG published stream that's currently up, do watch it. Ryan unveiled the prototype for the new Splinter V2. It's blackwood with a smoke black short stem & he alluded to a little something new added to the heater, but I'm not sure he's ever gonna tell. The black is real sharp! He also got long & short (stock) cooling stems in as well as regular short stems. But he's gonna continue to make the XL8r long & short stems himself. They are 2.4mm(?) thicker than the stock cooling stems. As mfr'ing is shutting down for the Chinese New Year, I don't think these are gonna be available for at least a couple of months.

He's expanding his distribution -- the new additions being sneakypete, vaposhop (new?), hooking up with several Aussie retailers.

Ryan looks really good. He's relaxed & happy.

That combo is so fucking slick. I don't even have the V1 yet, and I'm already drooling over V2 lol.

I asked PIU the other day if they were going to carry the splinter, and they just said "no" and got kinda quiet.

Yeah, I watched a good bit of that last night and was glad I did. He also said the v1s would ship next week.

I was confused thinking the v2 he tested was the first Chinese Z. I think that's just due to the slightly beefier wooden body making it look larger on the mod.

Rather bravely he took the v2 for an initial test drive on the live stream. The vapor production and slow, even browning were impressive. My og Splinter heats more to the middle than the bigger heater of my Z and the v2 looked a bit like that still but still mild and even roasting considering the clouds he got.

One other thing to note is that I've seen Ryan twice now doing low wattage cruise mode with a VTC Dual. I forget exactly how that works since he's saying things like "cruise mode at eighteen watts". He just leaves it for a minute or two before drawing. Let's all learn how to do that with our current Splinters!

Anyone know why PIU is not currently a retail partner ?

Semi Bad Blood, they had been in talks to carry the Milaana way back when and decided not to deal after failing to agree on terms (their massive loss imho)

That new all black Splinter V2 is fucking cool! Even though I may prefer the reddish grainy look of the V1 myself...

Yeah, I forgot to mention this. Ryan said making the shell thicker adds to it's durability.

And I also forgot to mention that he got the new 19/19mm wpa stock in. Unlike the VapeFiend wpa, this one has more length between both joints as Ryan didn't like the VF one cause this area was too short for him to grasp when lifting it & the vape up after a draw to clear.

Don't really know what's to learn. Ryan has been using this method for a while now. Depending on which mod he's using, Funkyjunk with cruise or sur_myevic with autofire(?), he preheats a minute or 2 & uses 18 or 19 watts. The herb gets slowly heat soaked. Simple.

IRather bravely he took the v2 for an initial test drive on the live stream.

As long as I've been following Ryan, he's always been 99.9% transparent, so this didn't surprise me.

I asked PIU the other day if they were going to carry the splinter, and they just said "no"...

To me, it makes sense if RBT solely sells RBT products in the US. Why should the profits need to be shared with another US retailer. All he has to do for a sale is ship out stock.

This is embarrassing: I have the fj software on my VTC Dual for my Tubo X. Or maybe it's sur_myevic, I can't remember.

I can only make it do TC though and Ryan was cruising in wattage mode, which I've never seen how to do on my dual.

I think what happened is I got it configured on a windows machine I no longer have set up.

You have FJ's Tubo software running on your VTC Dual, where you can only cruise in temperature mode. You can use wattage mode, and there are a two different ways to set that up, but it will not allow you to cruise in wattage mode.

SurMyEvic is designed for ecig use (where tubo is made for our use) and it has autofire which is similar to cruise except that it just runs when you hit the fire button and can do so in wattage mode. I have not tried to set up TC on my RXG3D, but I presume autofire would work the same. The other limitation is that it can only be set up to 25 seconds or just infinity, while you can press any button to exit autofire similar to cruise.

I do not understand why the creator did not put autofire as an option when choosing clicks in the expert settings... While tubo offers cruise there and also the tstep cruise which is cool too. Using autofire at 25 seconds with the G3D has been quite effective for me using my Z through water. I typically don't draw the full 25 seconds, and the button often doesnt go on the first try or starts then stops a few times, but it is very nice to be able to go hands-free for a bit at least.

Sorry to quote your whole message. I am not around FC so much these days and honestly can’t figure out how to do a smaller quote on mobile. I just wanted to chime in and say that I have FJ firmware installed on my VTC dual and I can cruise in wattage just fine. I do however not have the newest version of FJ firmware so maybe he got rid of cruising in wattage with a new update? If so I may not update mine like I was planning lol. The z seems like it has brought the power of the Zion to the masses. That’s awesome and I hope to be able to get my hands on one soon. I hope everyone is staying vaped and having a good one.

Cheers.

All good, I don't know how to do that either, I just delete the text manually lol

Ah I could be wrong, I never actually tried myself. It may just be a warning from FJ for use with Tubo heater at least...

But yes as an original Zteamer I can confirm SplinterZ really is an impressive evolution! Need to get TC going with it

With @funkyjunky firmware, starting Cruise in wattage mode simply simulates you holding down the button. It will continue to heat until the Cruise timeout occurs. I set my timeout to 30 seconds although I often stop before I hit the limit. This is my normal method for using the Splinter.

Low temperature cruising requires that you set the Cruise timeout (Vaping|Timer) to a large value. I use 180 seconds but I believe Ryan sets his much longer. Begin by turning the wattage up to something like 50W and heating for 10-15 seconds to soak the heater. Drop the wattage down to something like 12-14W and start cruising. The heater remains on and you just take draws at your own pace. It's supposed to be similar to a log vape experience, but I've never used a log vape so I can't say how they compare. It's not clear what effect this has on battery life. The heat is always on but the wattage is low.

Thanks for this.

Sadly I haven't even learned to change from TC to wattage on my VTC Dual. I found Menu>Vaping>Modes with a funny shaped A next to TC and a Y for yes next to everything else but that's all I've managed so far.

Will someone please ring in on this box mod? I know very little about mods (been trying, I swear) and will be soon getting a V1, my first RBT vape.

I'm willing to go with a single 18650 and carry extra when I need to. My main concern is, "Will this work satisfactorily, are its' specs. in the right ball field for these Splinter things? I'm not even sure how to know if I can use it easily as variable wattage, is that what VW usually means in the mode listings? Will I be able to try out different firmwares with this if/when I want to learn more, or will I be somewhat limited?

This one has some visual appeal and I like the size.
Ease of operation/understanding is important.
I may find it for less $ somewhere else (I definitely want to purchase from someplace within US) but this seemed to have a thorough description;

Any other relevant feedback appreciated!
thanks for your attention...and looking forward to hearing when someone gets their V1...

hey man, you should be able to use the VW right out of the box. Just go with that until you feel comfortable enough or curious enough to play with TC or install myevic/arctic fox. The sinuous P should supply enough wattage for what you have to do, can't say much about duration of the battery because all my mods are 2 batteries, I had a 1 battery mod once but the 10 sec puff cutoff drove me nuts.

Where you see "Pwr" in the settings, that is to turn on power mode and keep you in Watts (it turns the cruise bar into a power bar just showing how the power rises as you hold button). There is also an option to allow you to edit what's on your main screen and you can do it there without locking yourself to power mode too

Thank you. This is encouraging.
But will I be locked in to a ten second puff with this piece? Is that a standard for all single battery mods? I think I like the idea of the continuous low-wattage mode folks are talking about ^.

@vapviking the 10 sec cutoff can be adjusted to a longer limit on some mods. On the sinuous P80 I think with stock firmware you can change it to 15sec, if you install myevic you can have it with 25sec cutoff or have it run with no cuttoff, that's the feature you were describing. The tesla punk I had didn't allow for any adjustments, some people don't mind pulsing the button but that's not me
