I think I'm experiencing a little De Ja Vu here. Well sort of, happened to my dad with his first Milaana. I think I got a cold Splinter. I can't even get a hint of vapor until I hit 40 watts and even then the vapor is wispy at best. At 50 watts I can get vapor but I have to hold the button to a count of 8, then pull and ride the button through 3 time out cycles to see decent vapor. Another thing I noticed, in a completely dark room at 35 watts, my coil barely even glows. I have to really stare at it to see a mild glow. And at 50 watts, I can see a glow slightly but the middle doesn't glow at all. Just glows on the sides with a split down the middle as if there is 2 seperate heaters on either side. Is that supposed to happen? Or is the entire coil supposed to glow red? I have a ton of experience. My house looks like a vape/smoke shop. Between my dad, mom and myself we literally buy every ecig and flower vaporizer out. We even have 3 OG Milaanas. Tried the splinter on at least 10 different mods from 1, 2 & 3 [18650] mods, 20700 & 21700 mods, even big fat ass 26650 mods and I get the same results. Even the mods that automatically set the wattage according to the resistance it reads, even these mods start the Splinter at 45 watts. Do I need to return?

Mine glows the same way. Think it's the normal way it suppose to be. The wattage seems off thou. If I did a stem at 50watts it be combustion if I held button down for 8 seconds then inhaled. If it was just one mod I would suggest that but sounds like you have ruled that one out.

If any of your mods are DNA welcome download the FCSHARE file maybe try the profiles in it. There's some different coil materials in it. Try hot profile or splinter watt profile.

Yeah even at 50 watts it is underwhelming. Feels like I need just 10 more watts to get where I want but I was scared to use it at that wattage. Besides, I don't think I should be using 60 watts to get what others are claiming at 27-30 watts. In regards to the DNA mods and temp control..... I don't even want to touch that yet. Before venturing off into temp mode [which I'm familiar with] I want it to work as it was designed for first in wattage mode. Don't want to find a good temp only to find out I've been overworking the splinter because it was never right in wattage mode. I also failed to mention that I did try temp mode and it was super underwhelming at 400FMine glows the same way. Think it's the normal way it suppose to be. The wattage seems off thou. I never vape above that unless through water. I'm figuring that if I couldn't get vapor at 400F then something must be running cool. Failed to mention, I tried 3 different strains. Strawberry Turbo D, Grease Monkey and Royal Kush with all the same results. It also drains the f#*k out of my batteries. After 4 bowls, I have about 60% battery left.

Might be a daft question but - Do you preheat/feel heat pressure build up and inhale or press and rip (on any wattage)..
What is the resistance on your mod reading for the heater element?

Totally agree but well under the 70 watt burn in at 44 watts. But would not recommend others to follow my example. Thank you for pointing that out.
It was posted to assist kingSol with his issue. So please let's not start a glowy coilly game based on my pic.

Fresh stem would let it warm for couple seconds. Then do a couple small cigar type puff till feel the heat.
After first couple hits it's press inhale.
The resistance at 70 degree is 0.226 settles at around .270 at roughly 400 degree on my splinter.

At 40 watts my heat up time is 8 count warm up, then I pull on it and refire through 3 timeout cycles. Really, I run out of breath by the time I get vapor. At 50 watts my warm up is 6 seconds and I pull through 2 timeout cycles and get decent vapor. Also it will get hot to my lips at that point but not at 40 watts. My resistance is reading at .23-.28 depending on the Mod [not enough difference to matter]. I definitely don't want to play the glowy game either, that's why I refused to go to 60 watts even though I felt I would get what I wanted there.

Sorry about that had big long answer written out and lost power. That was at around 4 seconds at 44watts.
Might also might want to ask this over in mod thread since this info works across muti 510 devices. Not all members monitor different devices threads. So might get quicker mod answer there.
Sounds like you have tried it on a couple mods if all are taking a higher wattage. Then it's something with the splinter.
Check see if screw is tight on it is a thought. Maybe try different stem. Are some other thing I can think of. IDK

In wattage mode I am finding I get more charring than I would expect at just 25 watts. Might this indicate my coil resistance is too high? So far I have left my rx 2/3 at the default coil setting of .235.
I find that if I am not in a hurry I can fully extract a load at only 25 watts and that surprises me a little...

We have 3 Milaana's in total. Actually 4. My dad purchased one for my grand uncle who recently passed away so we got his back but it has a broken glass input. The only cold one was the very first Milaana and my pops was heartbroken because he waited so long and it didn't work [ran cool like this splinter] when he got it. It was returned and repaired [not replaced] and came back as a beast which led to the other 3 Milaana purchases, one being for Uncle Pootsie. 3 still in heavy use and 1 I need to send in to fix the glass.

At 44 watts i would probably have to mash the button at least 15-20 seconds to get a glow like that. I put it up to 75 watts like the burn in and still didn't see a glow until about 8-10 seconds and it was smaller than yours at 44 watts.

I feel your pain.. I asked because I received my Splinter earlier on today and was underwhelmed for the first couple of bowls, I was having the same issues you describe, lack of vapour etc. So I came on here for inspiration and saw your post but from the 3rd bowl it's kickin and all's good! All that I changed myself was how I inhaled and timing of inhalation.. Hope you get yours sorted..

I would be contacting RBT if was just one mod then would point that. But you tried on a few and same outcome. Mod people are using lot less wattage. Something sounds wrong.
Got a lot smart people here so maybe I might be overlooking something but 50-60 watts is high.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm not giving up yet, hoping it will just kick in on one of these bowls. I do LOVE this little freaking thing and don't want to send it in for repairs. I'm going to keep toying with it but I refuse to even touch temp mode unless I get it working right in wattage first.

USPS really helped me out after sending my package to a different state i got it about a hour ago and so far seems to be working really nice. I have it on a joytech espion i am running it at 30 watts and i think the res is .24 but so far i am getting good hits at 30 watts. I am just happy i got it today i didnt think i would have it untill monday at the earliest
