I received 2 defective Splinters. Cole responded immediately. I was sent 2 replacements and a gift for my inconvenience. This added courtesy was not necessary. It was above what I had expected. I've purchased from them since then and will continue to purchase from them in the future. I do agree with Vgoodiez that they should inspect the units prior to shipping. But the end of the day, they have been exceptional to do business with them. Great company and great products.
Ah thanks so Much
@Bazinga !!! Your screen name would make a great name for a vape lol. Cole has been doing a bang up job but has been extremely busy with finals for some accelerated courses as a Senior headed for Dean's List again... I was on a certain Dean's list but not the good one
Cole has his work cut out for him in the coming weeks working to get Mi3 pre-order completed, attend to warranty concerns as well as keeping up with current shipping demands. So, if you can help it, only bother him for address changes and other critical correspondence as every email answered means one less Mi3 shipped. Rest assured given some time we will make sure every one is attended to... but we do ask for your patience as the work is heavy and the hands are light.
So, some more detail on the quality issue. Early batches had a condition in that the wood was fit tight to the glass and would shrink and add stress to the glass after it saw the heat from a few uses (first batch of V1 units). If the defect exists it will manifest itself in the first few uses of the unit and are covered under our 30 day glass replacement. To contain the problem RBT decided move to a ship direct to the US / Canada biz model as retailers where put off by the high failure rate of initial units and most had no issue with pulling the plug on the RBT line late last year.
Since then the failure rate has been cut in half and as stated by
@Bazinga Cole is addressing any field failures with replacement units normally in a timely manner. Several weeks back Cole and I did discuss inspecting every unit after a blip on the broken unit radar. Even with inspection units can still be dropped and broken in transit even with the best packing job. Nothing in life is perfect.
@khelek41girl is the official repair center for RBT products. She currently does not have glass for Splinter Z V units but has glass for all else. This partnership was put in place to better serve customers who are out of the warranty period. She is also building the occasional artisan RBT product so check out kgwoodcrafts.com.
The new glass to fix the problem is currently being tested in Mi3 and so far no reports of broken glass (fingers crossed). So with a current low rate of failure, inspection, and a repair center the issue is now a manageable situation... and with the current sale the chance to own a great little convection vape for $42 should go a long way to rehab the brand. Thanks to all of the retailers like
@VGOODIEZ for helping us to manage the situation to minimize the negative impact to the customer as well as giving RBT a chance to survive.
Top of the list a big thanks to all of RBT nation for buying 1,2,5,10+ RBT vapes to help keep the train rolling. RBT is really excited by the upcoming ZapCap, Seed and Desktop and look forward to Splinter 2 and Custom units with exotic and burls provided by Futo!
Stay positive and Corona free all!
