Hey guys. Let me tell you how I load my stems so that the herb doesn't spill out at all. First, remove the basket screen, then you need to insert a 5/8 screen into the stem and push it back as far as you can (should be right were the stem starts to stick out of the bowl), this is were you load your herb into. After that, insert the basket screen again. You're done! You should now have a spill proof loaded stem. Best part is there a bit of room in the new chamber so you can just shake the vape (like a flight box) instead of stirring. It gives more space between the heater and the herb, so less chance of a hot spot. This is is the only way I use mine now. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

Here's a dumb gif of a double bowl stem I made for fun. It shows how the herb is loaded

Great ideas here, they are actually ideas that we have been discussing. The grinder was a simple product that came out of us developing a friendship with the guys over at futo so there wasn’t much development behind that product.

I have a giveaway going on over on reddit (r/vaporents) for a splinter V2 and a clear kooling kit. It lasts until noon tomorrow and all you need to do is comment a number. Just giving you guys a heads up.

With my latest order (okay, it was a Zv2 and not a splinter) had a nifty little surprise - a dope looking wood stem. Unfortunately it does not seat correctly and Though it doesn’t look long enough to connect with the bottom of the Z I don’t want to risk much. What do you guys prefer to do for ill fitting stems? I hate to see such a dope stem sit unused!

@virtualpurple, what I did is put a thin, narrow band of silicone around the wooden joint to tighten it up. The silicone piece I used is very flexible, similar to a rubberband. It came with something, but don't recall what. Works wonderfully. I imagine a thin o-ring would also work.

there was a post on Instagram that said they were going to be including free wobbly wooden mouthpieces with some Splinter orders, wobbly meaning they didn't fit quite right so they didn't feel right selling them but they do still work okay, you shouldn't need to worry about the screen especially in a Z since it came from RBT!

I cut mine down for a stealthy one hitter. It runs way too hot for sessions but I'm happy with it https://i.imgur.com/tqUTKIK.jpg

Ryan did an IG stream 11 hours ago working on Mi2s & assembling the Giveaway Splinters(Zs?). It's 30 min. long.

There's also a 2nd 1 hour stream up from 22 hours ago of him assembling Mi2s. After 24 hours it's gone.

I think you should be good. I accidentally left my V2 running on autofire for over an hour on TC mode. Everything's working normal with the splinter as well as the mod once it cooled off

Did it burn the wood? I noticed mine now makes one side darker than the other.

The wood was fine, it was running at low temp so the mod was hovering around 10 watts. My V2 has always hotspotted from the get go so nothing changed about that .

It's a shame S&B Dosing caps do not fit

Below is more the kind of magazine I had in mind - except for storing the normal RBT rimmed screens with a full load. https://delta3dstudios.com/s-b-dosing-capsule-sleeve-4x1/

A magazine like that for regular screens would probably end my search for a capsule system, at least for now. I took a chance on some vapexhale deep basket screens, hoping they would work in the RBT stems... No love.

You can force the basket into the stem, but only by creasing one side of the basket.

This resulted in a low resistance air path that bypasses the packed herb. In the end I was still roasting it all, probably from residual heat, but getting only whispy vapor even at 45 watts, which is a huge waste of battery compared to the fantastic vapor from the normal screens at 36 watts.

So currently my best travel-ready solution is to put a 5/8" top screen in, pack the stem with .25g g and cap the herb with a regular basket screen. This provides good vapor density and I can stir it by shaking it a bit. (Thanks @Mribisback_ for that tip) This means carrying multiple loaded stems if I don't want dump and repack on the go, in the end it just might not be worth it, but I'm giving it a go.

Looks like an EVO basket, i’m not using those as I prefer not to stir. That holder may work, but I was thinking something that holds your herbs in the pre-packed screen until you remove it to place on your stem.

I think we’re totally in agreement there, just with different wording. My preference for a pre-packed screen magazine is a stacked form factor instead of a radial form factor.

Have either of you reached out to @Ratchett ? If his plate’s not too full, I’ll bet he could print the perfect accessory. You may need to send him a basket, though...

Just wanna thank RBT for his giveaway over on /r/vaporents. I (u/infinitemuffin on Reddit) won a Splinter v2 + clear cooling kit! Super excited to test it out --- it'll fit nicely between my Mighty and VapCap. Any recommendations on mods? I was thinking of grabbing the Wismec 2/3 battery mod. Thanks again, Ryan!

Actually I have a splinter V2 sitting in the box I haven't even started playing with yet. I suspect my BP465 size basket screens would work in a stem, is that what the question is? I can test them out and confirm if it fits

People want to preload and store baskets for the Splinter. I thought you might be the guy to fill the void.

Nice! Hope you enjoy it brother!

A post above has photo of Mighty cap plastic frame that you should be able to print to fit RBT rimmed basket screens snug for transport:

Hiya, @Ratchett. Nerd questions incoming!

Do you think that the herb in a packed RBT basket screen would pick up any flavoring from contact with printed plastic? Do you use PLA, and would PLA stand up to the residual heat of a warm screen being inserted just after a Splinter session?

I was thinking that wood and aluminum would be good material choices for an RBT specific magazine, but a printed solution would be pretty cool. Hopefully this isn't veering too far off the thread topic but it's all very closely related to daily splinter use.

Hmmm, I might have a few ideas in mind, I'll see if my kit includes a rimmed basket screen and start whipping up a few proof of concepts to see which works best. I've started scaling up the printer farm so I usually have a spare printer for R&D projects these days.

PLA is BPA Free and quite odorless especially compared to other nasty stuff like ABS. Although PLA is not the only material I work with. I intend to experiment with PLA, PETG, TPU, TPE, Nylon, Silicone, and Vinyl designs to figure out which works best for the application.

PLA would certainly hold up to the heat since you would still need to pick up and transfer the basket to the case - if you can hold it with your fingers, it's cooled off enough for PLA. Although in this case I would likely not use PLA since it is on the lower end of temperatures for this specific application.

This is very cool! I just went to your website, you have some very cool stuff there! I love have my product preloaded makes things so much easier to pop things in and out. If you make somethings like basket holders and loading kits for the splinter basket I would definitely buy it! Keep us updated!
