Apart from wood & glass color, I'm under the impression that the ceramic is the same. No?

Splinter V1 had mica, V2 has ceramic instead (all ZV have ceramic and all units have ceramic in the 510 deck instead of plastic) while both V1s have resistor for heater screens, those should be the only differences... We've done this so many times, wish there was a better way lol

I've been researching the Splinter V2 lately and looking for something on-demand to either replace my Crafty with or at least compliment it. I do not own a box mod yet but am thinking about the Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 for the overall price and positive feedback it's received so far.

People rave about the vapor quality and pure taste from the Splinter and many say it's on par with the Mighty/Crafty if not better. I'm curious about vapor temp/harshness though. It seems that longer stems are often suggested to keep things cooler but what is the experience like using the standard glass stem?

I've owned several portables besides the Crafty such as the original Solo, Arizer Air, Flowermate (don't remember which model exactly), and a few pen style convection vapes so I'm familiar with draw resistance and vapor quality from several top rated vapes on the market today but so far the Crafty has been the best experience to date and the only vape I decided to hang on to.

I don't own a V2 but I love the V1 and the Z and I think you'll be really impressed coming from S&B portables.

All the stems are viable. It depends on how hard you want your Splinter hitting. With modest resistance, temps, or wattage the short or long plain stems work well. If you want to push harder and get shockingly big clouds the expensive XL8R stem is worth the $50. I'm guessing the thinner China glass XL8R stems would make a nice compromise. I'd opt for the short and long combo because the stack height of the mod, Splinter, and stem is a bit unwieldy with the big XL8R.

The RX Gen3 Dual is my favorite TC mod for the Splinters and it does support the various firmware options. However, for best performance you should pair your V2 with a DNA-C mod.

The best value we've found to date has been the hcigar VT75D for $60-80 or the Lost Vape Paranormal 250c when they go on sale for $100 like they are now.

You can still have a ton of success with the rxg3d only. If you're paying more than $40 for it and you can get a VT75D for $70 or so it's well worth the upgrade.

Ive only used the glass stem that came with it. I find the initial first hit I take is slightly harsh but not too bad that its not tolerable I think its
mainly just that initial burst of flavor/terpenes that is harsh. every hit after the first hit is nothing but smooth and tasty imo. I also dab alot so i might just be used to higher temp vapor but I find no need for a cooling stem.

Ive also been sandwiching the herb now between a flat screen at the bottom of the joint and the basket. Im only filling it about half way with herb that way I can occasionally shake it up. I like this a lot better as Ive noticed theres some material sandwiched between the glass and the screen inside the actual splinter so i dont have to worry about that anymore and I also dont have to worry about the stem falling out anymore.

working great after running the case analyzer. Ive bumped up the temp to 375 for the sandwich method and its working great

Where can I find the Paranormal for $100 and what makes it a better option vs. the Wismec GEN3?

I'm new to mods so forgive my ignorance. I'm used to vapes with batteries built in.

I"m double posting to avoid confusion since the above is an entirely different mod....

The $100 Paranormal DNA250C deal is back at SourceMore:
https://cheapvaping.deals/authentic-lost-vape-paranormal-dna-250c-box-mod

DNA mods are more accurate performance in both wattage and TC mode.

Sounds like I have more research to do lol

I've read about different settings that can be downloaded...I'm assuming these files are applied using a USB? Are they specific to the mod box and vape you're using it with?

For simplicity sake I would go with the G3D and just start with the stock firmware (where you can increase fire time to 15sec instead of 10) and wattage mode. It will work great to control the power as designed, while the G3D is a great size with the V2 especially. Using one of the custom firmwares like surmyevic offers more tweaking options, while a DNA mod allows you to download profiles for simple accurate temp control where someone else has already done the guesswork for you (since TC is not a native feature-- some people do configure it for the regular mods like the G3D successfully though, it can just be a bit more involved). Pick the mod you like based on form factor, then see about firmware options later... I'd also grab a Jr cooler for hotter hits and the wpa :2c:

When you say "G3D" are you referring to the Wismec GEN3? Sorry, just thrown off by the alternate names of these mods....

Also, I found a place offering the King Cooling Kit with the Splinter purchase. If' I'm not mistaken this provides the longer/cooling mouthpiece that goes with the v2.

@HerbieVonVapster , can I ask a question about your new Splinter.csv material file? I just imported it into escribe, and I'm looking at the resulting graph of the 5 data points on the Materials tab. If I now click on the Actions button and enter a TCR of .001, I get the same line (they both go through (68,1) and (800,1.407)). Does that mean that the material file is equivalent to a TCR of .001?

Thanks!

I would like to give you my (very subjective) take on this, as i have a similar "vape history".
I used quite some Vapes and similr to you, the Mighty is/was one of the few to stay and stand the test of time. I really like my Splinter (earlier us made model) but it took some time to dial it in and get used to it. I use it with the Releaux RX Gen3, just in wattage mode.
I like my Vapes to hit hard and nearly always use them at the higher end of temperature, my Mighty is always at its highest possible setting of 210 Celsius.

Just in my own Opinion and experience, with the standard Stem, the Splinter and Mighty are like Night and day regarding harshness, Mighty very smooth, Splinter very hot and harsh. This can be avoided for a part but if searching high temp hits and big clouds it is just no comparison.

For me, the Splinter felt complete and became my go to Vape for many situations when i started to use it with the cooling Mouthpiece @VapeFiend.com sells and i really think @RastaBuddhaTao should include some sort of cooling mouthpiece in the standard package, that would make the appeal of the Splinter much greater.
I have no experience with the xl8r Mouthpieces but am very interested in a comparison to my Mouthpiece.

And last point: you will love the speed and on demand factor and the Splinter is (for me) less of a Weed hog than the Mighty...

Hope this helps, have a great day!

Sorry I meant the Wismec Reuleaux RX Gen3 Dual you mentioned, I have it and call it G3D or RXG3D here lol I know the Reuleaux line is confusing!

And yup, king kooling kit comes with both the standard long and junior xl8r coolers (the US custom ones are sold individually and are thicker also with flat "-D" fins now, but cost more money).

Getting the V2 with the kit is a great bundle, paired with the RXG3D you should have a nice experience!

I like the G3D as well. To me, it looks the best with a splinter compared to all other box mods, IMO.
I do have a vt75d coming to compare but with my G3D dialed in at TCR 120, 40W, .25 locked and at 250 Celcius, I am ripping through bowls on autofire with the splinter glass stem (with silicone on it to make the seal) inverted acting like a WPA in my sidecar knockoff mobius.

Hard to combust with this setting for me. I can get AVB pretty even if I go slow but it does need a stir or two to even things out well.

I bought my Splinter V1 directly from RBT.

I live outside the USA

The entire wood and glass "outside" the heater has come off. I got it back on, but a Splinter is not a Stempod, so that seems to be a problem.

What are my choices regarding warranty repair/replacement? Postage to/from and customs issues make a USA warranty less expensive than Europe.

While I asking about RBT warranties, I have a "lifetime" Milaana where the screw post sheared off the same questions as above, who, where and how.

Thanks

Please see our custom dealer VapeFiend in London. They along with VGoodiez (US) Planet Vape (Canada) and High Tech (Australia) are being equipped with the tools and training to do minor repairs. Repairs are done on any units that are still under warranty. If the unit is not repairable (cracked wood, obsolete part, etc) units will be replaced. Please read your warranty or see the RBT WWW for the details on what is covered by warranty and what is not.

@Summer beat me to the Vgoodiez announcement but I believe they are also giving a pretty good discount and have some price cuts on top of the drawing for free stuff.... HAPPY 420 aLL!
