1. Has been replied to so no point repeating but...A couple of questions to those here who understand the science of vaporizing, especially as it relates to the Mi. Cuz there's things I just don't know and I'm curious about.
1) What is that snapping/crackling sound that happens on the first draw? I love it. Sometimes it's shockingly loud and sometimes it's just a little crackle-but it's almost always there on the first pull. Why? What's causing that?
2) A bit later into the first draw I notice a pronounced draw resistance at one point. This has become my signal to let off the gas in a second or two and increase my draw speed. A nice tasty cloud is the result. And happens on most draws. But what's going on that causes that?
3) I don't notice this on either my Omnivap or M, nor do I notice it on my Alternate, and don't remember hearing it on any other vaporizer I've tried. Is this unique to the Mi? Or do others like the MVT do this as well?
I'm a curious guy, and these are the questions I ask myself while vaping. You should hear the questions I ask myself while cleaning the litter box. Or maybe you shouldn't.

I think I have only noticed this phenomenon whis a well loaded stem. Havent really been paying attention to it enough to confirm this though
I guess in theory this could happen in other vapes but could also be due to the open air flow getting more of the load up to temp at the same time...

It would have been easier if it was a straight stem, but instead it was a 4 or 5" M2M so not a smooth path. And I hadn't cleaned it in a while so it was very sticky. And the Jyarz Chico I was loading from was full, of course.
I didn't lose much, but as you say, if it CAN be done, one of us will do it. Especially given that the point is to get a little goofy anyway...
Pretty sure this is moisture from your load. The wide open draw leads to quick drying and some sound along with it. I have occasionally heard it in a VC with moist goods with the first draw but it is less noticeable. I really think the most relevant factor in if or how much sound their might be is moisture content. You may find the same goods a little older (and dryer) will stop or reduce the sound.

So after I figured out that this was NOT the correct stuff I went ahead and used it anyways.
I paid $10.50 shipped and a tube of the proper stuff would've brought the tab to over $35. Yes, I can be a cheapskate. The issue is that it's only rated to 284°f, so I just swabbed a bit around the rim. I let the old adhesive, which seems to have been dripped ~1/4" into a divot in the wood, serve as my alignment guide. It seems to be holding up just fine, so while the other stuff may be even better this stuff works great imho.

Yeah, I HATE when that happens...
Happy that the Mi2 is coming soon but I can’t help wishing that he would prioritize getting the Splinters out to the folks who have already paid for them instead of moving on to the next thing.
Maybe he is waiting for parts so cant work on Splinter? Who knows... No point standing idle!
This is exactly it. Parts are in now but they short shipped. About 30 or so to go out next week.

I suspect it is a matter of getting used to the Zion. I can set the Zion so it can't shoot past flavor range. With the Mi I sometimes get too hot too soon for flavor.
The Zion is a regulated Milaana. With a bigger heater and more battery.
The Splinter will be the most controllable I'm sure.

The vapor is certainly cooler which is a nice plus. But I feel like it tough to get the quality of hits from my Milaana. I have the temp set nearly wide open (probably around 4pm on the dial) before I can get visible vapor. Is that normal?

Give it more heat soak before hitting. I keep mine on the lowest setting and it gives me all I can handle once fully soaked.
There will be a limited number of Milaana 1.5s. Basically same heater and body of the Milaana 1, they will have a more squared off base for stability and there will be some new wood configurations.

Fantastic first couple of draws. Intuitive from the get go. Finally, *quiet* RSI friendly, on demand convention vaping, no pen clicks, cap pops or zzzzzzz. The taste omg.
Great, until the basket dropped.
I have to say, the whole in stem screen system seems really wonky. I just don't really get it.
I have standard rbt and basket screen (arizer style from Amazon).
Nothing quite seems natural. One screen is too small without adjustment, another too large.
Ok one goes all the way in, but then it keeps on going: the further up the stem, the looser the fit. Press back down from above, you can mangle the screen. You get kind of to a maybe sweet spot, but the grip is precarious.
The true basket type, for me, fall right out.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious.
Is there a best posting on this thread on the topic? A YouTuber who really wrestles with this? Would someone address the subject afresh? I've looked around, couldn't find answers.

Stem screens is the one problem without a good solution. There is a lot of variation on interior stem size and it makes consistent screen drag (friction) difficult. Some screen/stem combos work fine. What I like to use is rimmed screens on those stems with too large an ID, but that works best if you have shaved a mm or two off the joint length of 22mm. Sometimes I can force the screen diameter larger, increasing the friction that holds it in place, sometimes not. It is not always easy to get functioning perfectly...

Screens aren't that delicate. Just squeeze the sides of the large one gently until it fits. It's also pretty easy to expand the small screen slightly so that it will fit snugly. I've had to do it. I have a small screwdriver with a handle that's just the right size to spread the sides out a little, but I've even done it with just my fingers.

I use DDave rimmed screens almost exclusively with the Mi. I have the 14 and 18mm sizes. I prefer the 14 mm size (with the accompanying 14mm stem of course) because less material is needed to provide the proper screen coverage / draw resistance to produce a few great Mi hits. But when I'm wanting what the og 18 mm stem provides (raw wide open love), I load it up. I kind of take the og 18mm Mi stem as the quintessential Mi experience, and with the rimmed screen I've never had a hassle loading.
