Will butternut be a production wood? Or was that just for the vaped.com custom? I saw another butternut on the tube that didn't have the wormholes, hence my asking. (It's the one with the butternut body and the spalted cap)

I'm actually really digging it. I was sold on walnut before but I like the butternut (and spalted) too! Will be hard decision. I'm hoping my tax refund is kind to me this year.

Backup hot as fk milaana is going to a friend as he waits repairs on his unit. Female came out when his stem got stuck, then got unstuck and fell to the floor and broke before he could re glue. His unit was an OG delivered may 5th (we both got to test our own units together .. fun as hell cinco de mayo) before the changes were implemented to seat the glass more consistently.

Let's see if he can tame that milaana without combustion ... won't hold my breath haha. Way more powerful than OGs.

Here is a partial list of the updates and improvements we have made to Milaana with the help of FC feedback:


Recessed glass to reduce the chance of damage if dropped

Recessed the glass, ground glass, increased glue bond area, and minimized epoxy volume to resolve glass retention issue

Added quality checks to ensure glass and heater screens are installed properly and the heater's thermal image is free of "hot sots"

Added a burn-off test and an epoxy cure time extension to ensure the purity of the vapor path

Added the inlet screen to reduce particulate intake and improve design aesthetics

Reduced any gaps between the button, body and bottom cap to less than .005"

Reduction in any burn marks and improved surface finish

Added quality checks to ensure the mouthpieces fit in the unit properly

Added an end of line quality check with a temperature gauge

Added a max current in-process verification of the heater current.

Added multiple sanding steps to ensure proper surface finish

Added clamping process to ensure bottom cap fit

Reduced burn marks on bottom cap

Added a vibratory bowl matte finish and protective enamel clear coat to the copper door

Added "Trade Secret" design improvements to the heater to improve thermal consistency

Added battery charge and unit test for improved out of the box performance

Secured battery hatch screw to prevent loosening in the field.

Wow. My original non recessed Milaana works really really well. Hard to imagine that newer models have been tweaked for even better performance, but great to hear.

Is this the smooth temperature rise I feel in my spalted?? Makes rips come with ease and preserves flavor amazingly well. Most consistent of all 3 units I've had (and of the 4 I've tried).

Fun feeling the variety and how units varied throughout 2016. Left with the best and a powerhouse for backup. Wouldn't have it any other way.

There really wasn't any performance enhancements other than tweaking the mean amperage up 10 % inlike @HellsWindStaff mega clouds lol.

Most where to address fit and finish issues and reliability issues like loose glass and caps.

Now the only other improvement I would try to do, if possible, if I was making them is a female connector from an 'unbreakable' ceramic oxide. Maybe Zirconium?
It would cost some to get the you know who to do a run but in the long run it would make it virtually indestructable..
The only loss from a fall would hopefully be the glass mouthpiece.

Would cut down on repairs and especially for overseas owners.

Also maybe selling a female connector with heater installed replacement with a few inches of silver solder etc. for the tool adept people from far away..

I love the way the body shape shows grain off.
I've been lurking (and loving) the various log threads for ages now, but really think the combination of flat surfaces and curved ones do a better job of exposing the beauty of the various different wood species.
