Taking one last shot on the more solid high points in the wetter areas... knowing full well we're gonna get skunked...:
in the skunk cabbage... still worth a shot!
(Much sweatier, more jungle-like today... skeets are out, gotta keep moving!!!)
pretty sure this is a new one, tho passed:
Couple worth posting... anyone know the blossom/tree...? The were everywhere around me on the ground and cabbage leaves (not the albino fern, heh)...:
Stuff of note (throwing out the broken chillum):

Because the third walk of the morning was a little late, and therefore too hot and sunny, and waaaaay too many people (obviously), we decided to hit up the "lady slipper" patch next to the Rail Trail and cemetery again for a short walk in the shade....
The lady slippers were replaced by Indian pipe (= summer!).... yay!! I never knew bumblebees hit them up, too... amazing!:
(best pic I got, it's there... look harder!)
What we always called "Indian hemp" (Sweetfern)... smells wonderful when you mash up the leaves:
Probably what was once more than a seasonal pond, looks to be no longer a pond at all, and merely a seasonal puddle:
(Ha...he's such a ham)
Other side of seasonal puddle:
Pretty deep/steep on this side. The "Rail Trail" is about 200' behind me. The pics of the geese and snake the other day were from the stretch in red (bottom right) the first stream headed northeast from going under I495.
Hawk, turkey.....?:

Ha, I watched it set, too, at about 3:30AM or so, behind the hillside we're on here in central MA. I bet it sunk much more quickly over the water... It was so clear and bright (and low, got up @ 2:30)....! Always weird walking around outside in the early AM casting a massive, distinct shadow...
