My wife and I recently did a whirlwind tour of Scandinavia to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Norway in particular was just amazing. Of course I took a zillion pix, so consider yourselves lucky that I'm only posting three.

We took a 22-hour train/boat/bus trip from Oslo to Bergen and back. It was 50 and spring when we trained out of Oslo at 830, but by noon here in Hol it was 30-something and like freaking permafrost outside!

This is the village of Undredal, on the shores of the fjord we were sailing down. There were lots of little dwellings along the way...it's totally baffling how people get in and out of these places.

This is the mouth of the Nærøyfjord ("narrow fjord"), the narrowest fjord in Scandinavia. It's listed as one of Unesco's World Heritage sites, and was voted the number one natural heritage site by the National Geographic Society. Needless to say it's pretty amazing and awe-inspiring.

I live along the Columbia River. In front of my townhouse, an osprey platform sits atop a stable grouping of pilings. I believe she recently laid eggs. There is a 60 day incubation period. This is a Mom and Dad photo.

Osprey are also known as "seahawks", which is quite appropriate as they live in the Washington State side of the river

Osprey's are cool. Set up on their pilings and do their thing as so many boaters come and go.

I was about to open a bird link but jeez I'd just let everyone know how much of a non-birder I am. Which I am.

We have a nest of hatched Eastern Phoebes against the house inside out gated back yard where we keep the dogs when they are out. One fledged today, and if I'm not crazy, somehow got back into the nest this evening. I thought that once they fledged they fledged.

Anyway, I've refrained from taking pictures for some reason. A bird needs its privacy and all. And have decided to provide post this instead. It's summatime.

And this for @Stevenski 'cause the oak and the eucalyptus are doing their thing too.

When we lived in Florida it seemed they were everywhere.

We'd see them all over the Chesapeake area, especially around the small rivers that feed the bay, sitting atop the channel markers.
