Someone's Granddad (right) and his identical twin brother, dressed up and showing off their pet monkeys, circa 1932. The monkeys were ordered from a comic book ad and arrived via mail in a cardboard box - wowbobwow

Monkeys!!!! 40 years ago my Dad's friend went to an animal shelter to adopt a puppy and my Dad went with him. Dad was a softee and a big animal lover and came home with a huge long haired blind cat and a squirrel monkey. My mother had a shit fit. The cat meowed all day long as it bumped into everything. The monkey came with a cage and was too erratic to handle. The monkey's favorite pastime was screaming and throwing its feces at everyone. My mother put up with this for about a week and made my Dad bring them back to the shelter. Dad came home with a coon hound that lasted 3 days before being taken back because each night after we went to sleep he would stand on his hind legs, poke his head through the window curtains and howl at the moon all night. Mom went with Dad when he took the hound back to end the insanity. The good ol days....
