To anyone who feels like they need to keep the Nomad in pristine condition.. I present my case for this alternative.
Consider the idea that this vaporizer was designed with a specific aesthetic in mind, that of the space scavenger vibe. From the ground up, the design and materials were chosen to reach that end. The Nomads aesthetic, in my opinion, cannot be truly realized until it's gone through real world wear and tear.
The patina that develops is part of what I consider the finishing stage. It can't be faked.. or else I would add my own weathering to each and every Nomad.
It's these subtle details that really make the design pop.
Instead of fearing damage, embrace it. Every scar adds to the richness of each Nomads personal history. The paper, the wood, the bronze, it's all designed to wear in a specific way.
Daily use is a necessary process to finally revealing the Nomads intended look.
Here is my prototype today, after seeing heavy use and abuse. Keep in mind the sleeve was made with different paper, thin not-so-durable stuff, and only adhered with spray adhesive.. The chiyogami used for the production Nomads will wear nicer.
This thing has been tossed around in my camera bag, pocket, workshop, camping trips, hikes, it got soaked in the bottom of a "waterproof" food bag....

Without reading through the whole thread- is there any way of knowing when those of us who didn't get a preorder spot can order? And at that point will it be open to everyone to order or will those who failed the preorder have an option?

I never intended to keep mine pristine and not use it....whats the point in having such a great vape if you just going to leave it on the shelf. That just seems silly in my eyes. 
Mine will go everywhere with me either in a bag or pocket. I intend to use this beauty as often as possible when out and about. A piece crafted from nature itself deserves to go back and be used in its natural environment from whence it came.

It's now March... so there goes another one of my time estimates. Truly a learning experience this project has been. Each and every new process proves more involved than predicted. I will be so relieved when I can finally start doing things for the second time, walking a blazed trail. But! I feel SO great about the results.. The Nomad has evolved to being much more than the prototype... I can say that I wouldn't change a thing. I know it'll be worth the wait. This week ends with me wrapping more chiyogami, and making African blackwood heater module insulators... Then final inspection and lots of tastey photos can finally come your way!

Forget the dancing around. Just would like a ballpark figure. If I recall correctly, there was a price of $300+ quoted in the near past. Does anyone remember what that price was without having to search through pages of posts?
