“Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten” is another quote that springs to mind!
Welcome @SouthWestSensi !
Either @Ed's TnT or @Alan can make you a wpa. I think @duff had success using the original glass stem into a 14mm bubbler. I have two wpa for my Epicvape Nano, one slides into the Nomad perfectly, and the other is too big to fit. So I can't recommend ordering one from Epic in hopes it fits. But if you have a Nano and some gongs already, wouldn't hurt to check. I will have to revisit the bubbler experience with the Nomad as I didn't have my technique fully down when I tried it. But I'm also more of a flavor guy and the bubbler usually taints it for coolness with most vapes I have and I usually prefer going from stem straight to my vape hole.
New stem to match my collar from @Alan has been kicking ass. I haven't used a glass one since getting my Blackwood stem from Ed, now having two wooden stems is perfect for me. Alan said he had a piece of Padauk that might go well.
Perfect imo:
Wear & Tear update 10 months in on #001
Bottom corners have some scuffing going on from traveling in cargo pockets and going in and out of its soft travel case. Some discoloration in the gold where the hand holds it most. Breaking in nicely like a guitar that gets played a lot.
Dan's final finish has changed since, so ymmv and I have not babied it since the third month in.
Do you mean you got a wood stem from Alan?Just wondering how owners are dealing with stems and screens. I have no problems with the glass ones that came with my Nomad. I use double screens on all my vapes and I like the way I can just push the screens from one end to the other on the Nomad.
But I've had problems when I've tried anything else. None of my other glass stems fit and I recently bought a wood RBT one made for the Nomad. I couldn't fit a second screen in so the grindings either fell into the nomad or into my mouth depending on how the screen was set.
I tend to break glass so want something more solid.

Post a pic of your capsule, maybe one of us can identify it.I'm brainless- the one I'm talking about is one of Ed's from Vgoodiez. Still no room for a second screen and I'm not totally sure how to put a flat one in the nomad. I might have gotten rid of them all since I use the cup shaped one.
Anyway, I forgot that Alan makes wood ones and it's likely he'll customize one to fit the screens.
Re cooling: I had one with glass balls and it was very fragile and broke. I also have a larger cooling one from RBT. So far, using Dan's stem, the Nomad is pretty cool without anything else.
Update: I found in my screens a capsule that fits perfectly in the wood mp. I don't know what vape it was made for. It'd be nice to have a couple more.
I was just looking at your link, and I see there are short and long stems for Nomad.
Is there a thing about stem length?
So you basically have your herb right there at your mouth???Dan's double-screen, wooden ring set up is in essence a capsule, although reloading it on the go isn't carefree since it involves several parts, any of which can be dropped. I believe a POV One capsule was referenced earlier in the thread as a good fit for the Nomad (a better fit that the F2 capsules which I didn't care for with my Nomad).
I don't use the double screen. The second screen isn't necessary once the flat screen is dropped in above the heater, and it increases heat up time, as do the F2 capsules. I just pulled my Nomad from my pocket where I stashed it as I left the house earlier. I use a single screen, cup style. The load in the stem in the pictures is 2 or 3 draws in (how I left it last night I guess). With proper technique (drawing vapor through slowly once it has had the chance to form), things roast up nice and evenly. A little bit visible in the top image is how the bottom portion of the material is the last to brown (of course). Dan's ring system allows you to just push that less-roasted end to the opposite end of the stem. I tend to give a quick stir - hassle free using the tiny tweezers of my pocket knife - before my final draw. But but I also get lazy at times and continue to roast without a stir and still get thorough roasting.
Using this single screen method, it's just as easy if not easier to clear the roasted material with a quick blow followed by a quick reload (a pinch into the top of the stem) than it is to push the load from one end of the stem to the other or to unload and reload capsules. It's also preferable for me since the heat up is quicker without the added mass of a capsule. With a fresh cell, 20 seconds start to finish for a great first hit when using nicely cured material. It will take longer if the material is a little moist. One of my earliest observations with my Nomad was that sometimes the first hit of a fresh load is to dry things up, making the second hit the payoff.
So you basically have your herb right there at your mouth???
Seems like accidental inhalation just waiting to happen....
You wha...., you think he...huhh...????So you basically have your herb right there at your mouth???

And given what other's have said I'm pretty sure my capsule is a Fury 2. It fits snugly and takes a bit of effort to remove. Possibly the wood stems are slightly different so the capsule varies in tightness.I'm brainless- the one I'm talking about is one of Ed's from Vgoodiez. NOOOOO, the other end!
You wha...., you think he...huhh...????
No worriesSorry, y’all - I’ve never seen something like this loaded or used, ever.
...so my next great question is, do you turn the nomad upside down and push the weed end of the stem up into it?
Or do you just pack the stem tight enough that it doesn’t fall out?
And surely, this must touch on the one-screen / two-screen thing?
despite the fact that most Nomads used like this are highly likely to a second 'body screen' fitted in the vape itself
Dan has been pursuing all the rabbits, down all the holes on my behalf, and has just sent me final mockups.
To say I'm excited would definitely be underselling the situation .
I won't preempt the final piece by revealing work in progress, I'll just post this super close-up, and say Dan is producing something a little off the beaten track for me.
I mean, there's barely any track visible when every piece is so different anyway, but Dan has really bent over backwards to attempt several different vague approaches I've suggested, and I love what he's whittled them down to.
Can't wait to see the real thing
As an insight into a TINY part of the efforts Dan has expended on my behalf, here's a super close up of a test piece done in paint which Dan has made himself from raw pigments and other ingedients ordered especially to meet my desires for my custom sleeve:

Sorry/not sorry for the teaser
Our conversation has roamed all over from raku pottery to obscure Japanese lacquer and paint techniques and it's already given me all sorts of warm fuzzies re' Dans commission style mindset, and I can't wait to see the final result of all his hard work.
I love love love my #36 . Delicious tasty hits, I can go all taste or all punch you face just with button + breath technique. Get on the waiting list. My favorite vape along with vapcaps and a lil bud. Yes the waiting is the only bad thing about the Nomad. I love this machine. Simple yet elegant. I'm going to hit the Nomad a bit and enjoy my Sunday. Cheers! More beers! D.
Not really any such thing as 'standard' from Morwood!Dan has been amazing working with those who wanted to design a customized shell. I did the opposite- I saw a picture on his recommended website, fell in love with it. Mine is standard in a way but also unique.
