I too am a self professed news junkie.
RT is awesome, checkout youtube for their stuff, heaps and heaps of content & lots of content specific programming.
Im also a financial, geo-political nut. they have great shows by Max Keiser- he is a really intelligent guy who is very nuts but quite sane at the same time.
very entertaining, well if youre into that sort of thing like me.
another pretty good RT production for world financial news is 'boom bust.'
this is an episode from about 2 weeks ago with an awesome guest Dr Paul craig Roberts who was one of the founders of reaganomics. I dont know anything about Reaganomics. but the content this man is currently writing I find very insightful & I have enjoyed everything I have read or seen from this bloke.
I also watch Greg Hunter from USA watchdog. I find even tho he is somewhat sensationalist at times, he has some great guests with some different perspectives than whats currently on offer via main stream shit. This interview is from january 2014 with a bloke named John Williams who analyzes all the US govt stats and calculates the real rates of inflation & unemployment they way they were calculated before 1990 (ish??). The current US govt official inflation figures do not take into account food, gas/ energy and tax paid.

Lots of stories form all over the world covering many, many different topics. Some are gems, others are warm steaming piles of bullshit or propaganda written to suit an agenda.
it doesnt take too much sorting, nor did it take too long for me to form the opinion, believe nothing on face value. Accept that anything and everything probably is a lie, and move forward from there.
I am also a precious metals bug, so I watch Mike Maloney who has produced a fantastic series called 'the hidden secrets of money' its about the origins of money leading right up to the present.
Here is the best segment, its about how our money, debt and credit is created today in a very easy to understand format.

But no matter what I watch or read, I always try to keep my mind as open as possible, my bullshit meter on high alert and I constantly look for and suspect an agenda from the author.
For example, Mike Maloney's agenda is to sell you gold and silver, but the information he provides is pretty good overall.
Now I have outed myself as a collaborator, I guess I shall wait for whatever
TLA (3 letter acronym) organisation to come and get me.
DHS, NSA, FBI, CIA or god help me the TSA for a good fondling.
But then again, everyone is too focussed on what Justin Beiber is doing ATM. I guess thats whats really important. Oh and how big a Kardashians ass is?

Yup. RT definitely puts their unique spin on things, but in all honesty, those spins are no more outrageous than some of the shit that you see on Fox. It just comes from a totally different perspective, and that is what I find really interesting.

The Supreme Court was subject to a security breach when a spectator sneaked a video camera into Wednesday’s proceedings and filmed a protester who disrupted an oral argument.
The clandestine footage, posted on YouTube, is the first known video of a Supreme Court proceeding to be made public. It isn’t clear what type of device was used to make the recording.
The video appears to contain footage from two different Supreme Court oral arguments—a campaign finance case from October 2013 and an argument from Wednesday about attorney’s fees in which the disruption occurred. The video captured a spectator in the court’s gallery who stood up and urged the justices to overturn their 2010 decision in Citizens United. That case struck down decades-old limits on political spending by corporations and unions.
Authorities identified the protester as Noah Kai Newkirk, a 33-year-old from Los Angeles. He was arrested under a federal law that prohibits making “a harangue or oration” in the Supreme Court building and held overnight.
Mr. Newkirk, who appeared in a District of Columbia court Thursday, pleaded not guilty to three misdemeanor charges carrying a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and a $5,000 fine. He was released on the condition that he stay away from the high court grounds. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for March 13. Mr. Newkirk’s court-appointed attorney, Wagner Dantas, declined to comment.
High court outbursts are rare. Before Wednesday, the last notable disruption of a Supreme Court proceeding came during a 2006 abortion case.
Mr. Newkirk has been arrested for protests in Los Angeles, New York and Washington, court records said. In 2009 he pleaded guilty to entering then-Sen. Joseph Lieberman’s (I., Conn.) office with several other demonstrators.
“The court became aware today of the video posted on YouTube. Court officials are in the process of reviewing the video and our courtroom screening procedures,” said court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg.
The court famously doesn’t allow cameras in its courtroom, which has prompted objections from a range of organizations that say court proceedings should be more accessible to the public.
Even still photos of court proceedings are exceedingly rare. Spectators and reporters alike are required to leave most personal belongings behind before attending court sessions. That includes cameras, phones and other electronic devices as well as hats, overcoats, books, magazines and briefcases. Courtroom visitors are closely screened by court security before being allowed to enter.
An activist group called 99Rise claimed credit for Wednesday’s disruption. The group did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the courtroom video.
“The technology is now present for a minute camera to be brought into the courtroom. It is surprising to me this hasn’t happened before,” said Richard Davis, a political scientist at Brigham Young University who studies coverage of the Supreme Court. “Will this lead the justices to approve cameras in the courtroom? I doubt it. It may mean they do more to keep cameras–portable ones–out.”

I just watched the evening news on RT. Apparently we are all being misled. There are no Russian troops in Crimea. They are all "local self-defense groups".
I would recommend to anyone that they watch at least one 30-minute newscast on RT just to see it for yourself. I wasn't even aware that it was mostly Americans on the ground that organized the overthrew of the legitimate government in Kiev last week.

Putin has a lot more justification to "invade" Crimea than we ever did in any of our illegal middle eastern invasions, occupations, and drone assassinations under both bush and the obama administrations. The ukraine is a country that is even more polarized than the US, between the eastern (russian) and the western halves, and is currently reeling from the recent interference by US-trained "coup advisers".
The US does not have any moral superiority to offer in this situation, and NATO wouldn't dare to give a fuck about this so it's all sabre-rattling. What will happen is Russia will get sole possession of the crimean peninsula, and the rest of the ukraine will be free to do what it wants which will probably be to devolve into another civil war. Even the proposed international trade sanctions won't have any real teeth, because the EU, dependent on soviet oil to stay warm in the winter, is completely against them.
I miss the cold war, there was a balance to the world then that is solely lacking since we "won". The world is a much more dangerous place now, and it will only get worse. All the prognostications about the power vacuum and resulting chaos have come true, and things are due to get much worse before they get better.

The Cuban missile crises was pretty fucking dangerous. I had a few nightmares over that one when it was happening.
And I can't even get into the other things that were almost as equally as dangerous but never became public knowledge.
But I do agree that things are more dangerous today. At least back then, there was a semblance of control.
