oh geez. just used my second battery on a trench of kiff.
Photo273.jpg

now I won't be able to drive and get more bats, which for me is absolutely unusual at the very least. But on the upside even though I can't drive right now its not like I need any more batteries at the mo. lol.
The bubbler and bong (especially the gong oil vapor globe attatchment) still have their place (shit for me even combustion does at times, I know I said it, gasps! sorry lol.), but now I've got this fantastic contraption they'll begin to gather dust doubtless. lordy i am TOAST!

I had to bust out a mirror and get the correct view of the back of the box for everyone. Plus it gave me a chance to try out a sweet infinity shot. on the latter I failed, lol. but I have not yet given up.

Yippie! My LB just got here!!! It is fricken tiny. I love that it is soooo much smaller than I thought it would be. OK. Gotto go "try it out". Be back to report in a bit.

kc - a few questions from your pics - is that a clear battery case I see in one of your pics? also, is the brush handle metallic? It's hard to see from the pic. Finally, can you show that felt bag? Is it just big enough for the LB? Maybe no rubber band needed anymore...

EDIT: nevermind - I see the product has an official photo now.

The more I look at this thing, its a lot different than the Beta! From what I can see, there is a 2nd air intake on the clip side of the unit. Also, the air out side does not appear to have the 2 pole ends exposed.
Can someone verify this?

Duh, I believe the answer to all your questions is yes. I thought the brush, bag, battery holder, and even rubber band were nice surprises. And to me, a sign that MF really wants the customer to be happy. I still may make a custom case for it that is more to my taste. But, at least I don't have to. :)

the plastic case holds four AA batteries. Safely.

Nice to have a prototype which is different. Nice bevels on the release Box wood.

Time to order a couple of production Boxes for me and my friends. (It's nice to have a job).

Oh, and I'm not so sure the mods can merge the two threads. Remember when we started talking about the Box in the Tube thread... I hope we can somehow make this into one thread, there's a lot of useful information in the beta thread that I would hate to see missed by those buying a Box from now on.

Are their any videos of this in action? I've read the reviews but I kind of want to see it in action.

Haywood, while I share your concern, I think this thread belongs in the abv and we can pull back stuff into the real thread as it goes. Besides, I made my share of bad jokes while vaped in this thread myself :p

To celebrate the launch of the Launch Box, I have started a page on vaporpedia - Haywood, want to try a first crack at it? We'll add it to the VP main page when it's ready.

PS: This would also be a good type of link that would be in the top post of the new thread!

wow....I need one of those batt. boxes...it sucks to lose power to HOT battery's all jumbled up in a case :(

no worries tho....the fold in my beanie gives quick access to as much power as I want :brow:

I like that addition of two mouthpieces....did the diameter of the mouthpiece hole (I.E. native hole) increase or are my eyes tricking me :/

did the wood change?

did the air intakes change at all?

did the trench get larger? aging I must be roasted as shit, but from the looks of the pictures....it seems the trench has gotten larger.

still seems that the mouthpiece parts are still not glass. oh well who wants to break their investment anyhow. all I can say about that is you should offer people the chance to buy glass or acrylic. Some people take the whole glass thing really serious.

I like the rounded edges...smooth looking machine for sure

:peace:

No poles exposed, no hole on the bottom ( i think i remember seeing a vid of the beta that leaked smoke out the bottom?

Are you sure? It looks like underneath the word THAT, there is air intake on the back of the unit. You should also be able to see it underneath the screen, in the center, when looking through the clear top.

There is something that could be a pin hole sized hole near the word THAT.

Are you sure? .
Yeah, I'm high. hold it up to the light and look through the screen and you can see the dot/hole.

and there appears to be what could have been a small peg to cover one pole. <3 this thing. so far its passed the test for all cannabis concentraits, powered keif being the best, but oil and bubble were good too though not necessarily reccomended. I'll post pics of the results soon.

It also appears the bindings changed. Check out Henny's 2nd pic on page 1 of this thread; do the new ones look like this? Look just above the fold of the trough, the 2 copper lines poles look like they are exposed (and hiding the screen) from your pics. Could just be lighting too.

Finally, is that birch? It looks lighter - like cherrywood?

Battery suggestion. I don't know if this is the best choice of battery, but I had some "eneloop" AA's sitting around and used it. I used an exacto blade to just cut off the part of the wrapper that would need to be removed to let metal touch metal in the LB. Works well. Fits in the hole and pulls out without any problems.

They are supposed to be pretty high rated as a battery that has longevity and quality to it.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later - I'm down to my last working vape. :uhoh:

While looking closely, I noticed the LB Beta screen separated from one side off the pole - the same mistake I made on my LT. I had a good run w/that little bugger. A word of caution to take care of your LB: I figure the seam tore either when I brushed the unit when it was too hot and melted brush bristles - or cotton that stuck in the screen - regardless I am grounded for now.

Question -- what have you been loading that would eventually become grey and clog the screen?

EDIT: nevermind -- this question has been answered.

Important note not in the shipped directions page: The provided brushes have "horse hair" (natural) bristles and are not meant to resist heat. Please be sure to only use the brush only when the screen is known to have cooled off.

Eneloop are excellent batteries -- in some respects better than nearly all others -- we recommend them.

There have been a number of fairly minor changes. The wood is still birch -- the color will be variable as is a natural characteristic of that wood. The poles are still under the screen. The screen itself is very slightly deeper (50 mills) and is the same width as in the Beta.

I could sing the praises for this delightful box for hours, and will get around to that when I've time. For now I just want to say thanks for allowing me to replace combustion MF.

Might I suggest/request a wooden strip similar in size to the launch box, maybe slightly longer, with holes drilled in it, for a battery holder? the plastic case is fine and all but I am paranoid about the small space between batteries allowing them to come in contact in discharge, and also I frequently have a hard time remembering which batteries are charged and which arent. With two battery holders you could have a labeled charge and discharge pile. I've got 8 batteries and the fast charger is plenty so two 4 battery holders would be excellent, plus you could even make them double sided ie top and bottom for total battery housing if desired. If its too much fuss or been considered and dropped I can always make one myself.... I am just full of ideas of ways to add this box to things or mod it out slightly.
I am just waiting for ya'll to launch of tabletop device. This thing keeps me satisfied all day for sure but I imagine in my stoney haze that you folks have some interesting setups that have been tinkered with, a plugin tabletop perhaps water filtrered model with a slightly less steep learning (or at a fantastic least similar) curve would be absolutely outstanding, as I find the box is fine for just me but other it can take some explaining, but screw that everyone learns the box with a few minutes of thought. my main priority is maximizing size/efficiiency in a model meant to not be protable or at least stealth. Just my stoned 2 cents right now, thanks again.
been boxing all day and im punch drunk , lawl.

I recieved my LB monday and it works good. Someone mentioned earleir about a list of batteries that fit good in the LB. The ones I bought here http://www.batteryjunction.com/combo-tg1000-4aa.html actually fit better then the ones that came with it not to mention they last longer because they are 2700 mah compared to the 2200 that come with it.

The original batteries are a little tight going in and out which makes it a little harder to regulate the time it is on and off where the extra batteries I bought slid in and out easier but still are held in good so there is no chance of it falling out. Also I write a number on the side and bottom of each battery so I can keep track of which ones I have used and which are still charged.

I wrote numbers on my batts too, but they came off from my fingers pulling them out. I ended up using tape in different shapes to tell the difference, but may end up using little stick on numbers if the tape doesn't work

After having the LB for a few days I have some thoughts comparing it to the VG.

Some things that matter to me on a vape are quality of medicinal extraction (how effective is it at getting your meds into your system), taste of herbs, and how much vapor can I see when I breath out.

1) LB gets me more medicated than the VG. The LB seems more efficient for sure.

2) I actually think that the VG produces a stronger flavor of what ever herb I am vaping. Which I like.

3) The VG produces much more visible vapor (which is probably why it delivers more flavor).

Now it is totally possible that I can figure out or learn how to get as much vapor and/or flavor from the LB. If anyone has thoughts on this, let me know. It is likely that I just have much more experience with the VG.

Some things other people may care about that aren't as important to me (again compared to the VG):

How stealthy is it? Launch Box is more stealthy

Cooler looking? I'd personally give it to the LB again.

Get nifty "what the???" kind of reactions from friends? LB again.

Safety? I would think that the LB is safer than the VG just because it doesn't use a lighter. I know for sure I have sometimes slightly burned my self with the hot metal from a lighter while using the VG because you have to have it on for long times to build up the heat.

For a new user, I think that the LB has a shorter learning curve and could be a better choice for a first time vaporor (vaporizer user).

That's all I can think of for now. I can only compare it to the VG since that is the only other device I have. I have used a volcano twice, and a vapor bros 5 times. It's not really fair to compare them since the price and style are sooooo different. But, if money was no object, I think for the way I use vapes, I still got better results with the LB than the VaporBros, and it is way more convenient than either of the VBros or the Volcano. I am not at all saying that the LB is better than these others, just that I think it actually is better for me and the way I would use them.
