The Lotus Vaporizer

Sounds like you could have some bubbles in the lines. My t-38 does that but some purging and filling helps
So, after purging and refilling a few times the lighter is doing somewhat better, though I still have to adjust the height once or twice a session. More positively though, the zico must maintain a steadier heat than the honest the Lotus came with, because I'm having an easier time bringing the Lotus up to temp and keeping it there without scorching

Excellent, been a long wait. Could you discuss what the differences are?
TIA.

The main difference is that the hot plate is sandwiched between two stainless steel rings. On the standard model the hot plate is sitting on the wood frame. This change should eliminate charring of the wood. A side benefit is that the cap can be totally cleaned with no inaccessible crevices.
The black Lotus ring is also set flush with the wood instead of having its edges exposed as on the standard model. Gives it a nicer look.
The hot plate is the same as that mounted in the standard cap and should be considered a consumable as there is no guarantee on it. With flowers it should last a year but I'm not sure how long it will last with concentrates.

Thanks Max, sounds good.
I can tell you the old cap indeed does last well over a year. I got mine at your 420 sale 2014 so it's 16 months old, and still kicking ass. Never have taken apart. Looking pretty ripe so never touch the top anymore neither. Just keeps on kickin!!!
Max, Since I have never opened up, will I hit problems just replacing the heater portion? Never thought about charing being a big issue... TIA

You shouldn't have any problems replacing the hot plate (heater portion?) but if it's not cracked you shouldn't need to. Use a .050 inch hex driver to remove the screws holding the hot plate if you want to inspect it or reform it.
If you haven't been smelling charred wood then it probably is not an issue for you. Some people really put a lot of heat to the Lotus. They are the ones that the new model is designed for.

I'll buy one of these very soon, love the look :D I wish Max offered free shipping :(

Just gotta make the shipping cost worth it! Get extra hot plates, screens and maybe an herb scoop for an herb loving friend.

How do I post a picture from my iPhone. I bought a new lotus and is it normal to have little dents that look like pinholes in the center area.

Yea that is pretty common. The plate on the cap does "wear in" and you will develop some new colors on the metal, as well as some slight dimples. The Lotus does not care and will still perform wonderfully.

If you tend to combust more often, you can remove the plate and hold it to a light. If you see pin holes in it, then go ahead and replace it. The plates are consumables and all have to be replaced eventually, but if yours develops premature cracks or holes, it is easily replaceable in a matter of minutes.

It may not appear perfect, but it will operate perfectly so long as that is not a puncture through the metal.

Don't be concerned and proceed with confidence. Try, experiment, and test. Max/Lotus is one of the most favored retailers on FC because he stands behind his product and supports customers.

Try it and if you find it is not operating to your expectations, drop him a note and I am sure he will take care of you.

...but I encourage you to try it immediately to test and experiment.

One more thing...
Obviously on the back of butane canisters there is a warning about combustion and cancer....I understand that the lotus doesn't suck in the butane...but if there is a pin hole it would right?
Or do I just worry to much?
Ha
Thanks.
And will it say triple filtered? I'm at Home Depot at the one they have dosent say it.

I don't think there is, but if there is a hole, you will not "taste" butane [at least I did not]. A hole might just let too much heat through and cause combustion though.

Personally, I will only use Benzomatic or other cheap butane in my large torch for nails. The stock torches for the lotus do deserve the best you can find [not HD]. You will find the 3x-4x filtered butanes at any head shop. I tend to use a lot of Vector Butane.
