The Lotus Vaporizer

Been really on the edge of buying the lotus, but if there's one thing i know its butane lighters.. and they seem to die/malfunction pretty often. I've lucked out using a very large torch lighter (Only used with Vector brand butane) that has lasted me about a year and a half now. Who knows of a small refillable torch lighter that has a warranty/last as long as my 8" tall torch? At max power/flow my torch gives me a 3-4" flame and at low power it gives me between .5" and 1". Would this be total overkill for the lotus?

Unfortunately, i had to cancel an order for a e-nano and am now limited to portable vaporizers and this is still at the top of my list. Any info is appreciated!

The butane torches are usually pretty cheap, under $5 for most of mine. Because they are cheap I have several sitting there just waiting for the one I am using to crap out. In the year I've been doing this I've only have one fail completely, and that was the ignitor that I could probably fix if I cared.

There is a thread on torches too... I have it here somewhere... Here it is.

Do NOT use a 3-4" flame with your lotus. You will combust every bowl.

Taste the KoolAide, come enjoy! I just got my 2nd

I know better than to try that, i wouldn't hit my nail with 3-4" of torch flame. But point being, on low, would a powerful torch such as mine work with the lotus? on low the flame is anywhere from .5"-1".

@Cyberguy, thanks for that link- its very useful!

On low it sounds like it will work, just be cautious of too much flame. You CAN ruin a Lotus with too much heat. They recommend a 1" flame.

There is a new higher heat version that should be coming out "soon". It think it is designed for concentrates so should probably withstand that torch in it's higher range. But we haven't seen it yet or know any real details about it so this is just guessing.

No, it's not. The new one isn't out yet. We haven't even seen it. V.3 is only slightly different (slight bigger bowl, stick moved, and something else, maybe magnet). The differences are listed in the thread somewhere.

Is the V3 not the new higher heat version?
No, there's a bit of confusion over the versions.

V1 was the original
V2 was a redesign of the cap to improve performance and reliability
V3 is simply v2 with some additional text printed on the cap (patent number), and a slight adjustment to the stir-stick

V4 is the unreleased high-temp cap which we know very little about.

Pretty sure it's dependent on what material the o-rings are made of. Some are just fine, but others can degrade and crack from extended exposure. It's very possible that the o-rings on the WPA are fine to be immersed in iso, but I wouldn't go soaking them for hours unless I knew for sure.
The O-rings are made of silicone rubber, sizes AS586-011 (small) and -012 (large). The AS586 may be replaced by another number but they are always -011 & -012 & 1/16" nominal diameter.

Regarding the hi temp cap, we are working on it with our vendors. We have all the parts in stock but one, which is hopefully coming soon. That's what I always think but have so far been surprised about, and not in a good way.
The cap will be visually close to the present version but there will be a metal ring under the edge of the hot plate to keep the wood from charring. The hot plate itself will be the same as the present one but will be considered a consumable on this model. It will probably last 3 months or so with the higher temps that it is going to see.
The cap will be able to be totally disassembled for cleaning, as I've mentioned before.
I hope that answers some of your questions.

I picked up an awesome "grenade" style torch for my lotus this week; my favorite so far.
Pics will be up later, but it has the same size flame as the torch in the kit, but the tank is at least 4-5x larger.

Got my Lotus. Got some decent hits. The provided torch keeps cutting out when im heating the plate? Any ideas. Im new with torches.

Edit: the angle at which I hold it seems to be the problem. Perfectly vertical it cuts out.

Sounds like you may have some air in the tank. Turn it upside down and hold it for 20 sec or so. Then release some gas. The air should have risen to the top (bottom if upside down) so that should exhaust first. Burping out the air should make it more stable.

Tell us if that worked.

It did not work. It seems a small flame forms on the pin underneath the flame hole opening and it touches the main flame and cuts it out. In the manual it says hold flame "almost vertical." That seems to work but wondering if it will damage the cap.

If you hold the Lotus perfectly horizontal and the lighter tip vertical it will cut out most times. I have found that holding the Lotus bending forward and the lighter tip more horizontal does the trick alright…

I had this problem with the torch my Lotus came with.

Cigar torch vapes are finicky, some work perfectly, some sputter out no matter what butane you use. Personally, I use a Zico T-38 for my Lotus (Never sputters out, no matter what direction I'm holding it, even if I'm 1mm away from the hot plate!).

There's a torch lighter thread somewhere on this forum, tons of different options. I'm very curious to try that Jobon torch everyone talks about (looks like it holds a lot of butane for it's size)

This thing is seriously fun! I didnt use as much material as I thought I did. I probably was just vaked. Haven't tried it with a water tool yet. Using a SSV j-hook. It cools vapor down significantly. The Lotus is going to work well in my rotation. Perfect for right after the daily grind. Perfect for my out of town trips...which is often. I am going to harbor freight to pick up that torch others mentioned. Thanks everyone for the torch info.

Some torches ARE finicky and may never work well. But, of the dozen torches I've had (I still have 11 of them) at least 5 were working badly at some point and were "fixed" by purging all the butane, refilling them (with high quality butane) and burping out any air that got in the tank. Periodic bleeding of air keeps them working.
There are several instruction videos on the web. It really does work with many lighter problems. More info in the torches thread.

There is a spot on the cap. Normal?

Nope, looks like a crack/defect, I'd contact them about it, I see 2 questionable spots in that picture (the other one is down lower).
