I decided on the Dissim Inverted Dual Torch, similar to the Carbon posted above. I found it for what appears to be a great price - $48. The price is so low, I'm concerned it's not actually the torch version. We shall see.

I've gotten dissims (the sport version) for as low as $15, so I wouldn't be concerned about that price. Lighters go for rock bottom prices if you get lucky on the right store. The tech inside dissim is just a bit of foam to act as a temporary fuel source when fluid is elsewhere in the tank. You picked well not getting the clear versions, because those remove your ability to sanitize with iso due to plastic cracking.

I really like my soft flame with the VG, but be careful where you aim that with the lotus. It's easy to overspray or hit the edges and burn the wood. Doubly so with the dual torch.

Eek - I had not thought that the dual torch could be problematic. I will try to do better than my normal klutzy self.

BTW, the vapepensales site above told me after the fact that black isn't in stock. SMH. The website is still not updated (for anyone who might be thinking that the black looks good). Now limited to silver, gold and rose gold. Allegedly. Waiting on a human to confirm my 2nd choice.

That's a very high price for a Dissim lighter IMO. I've paid around the 15-20 for them before.

I've had two, one that I lost but was great before I lost it. Then the replacement died very quickly and there was non-existent support from Dissim to resolve the issue.

Edit - having just looked at their site, seems all their prices have gone up considerably 😒 I wouldn't spend that much on one tbh. It's a good idea, but given their lack of support I wouldn't risk spending on their products again.

Too late. I will report back on how it works. For the $15-20 are we talking about the same model? The Dissim website lists the above "on sale" at $59 ("half off"), and my attempt to compare prices (by Google Shopping) didn't point me to a cheaper price.

Speaking of which - is there a "vapospy" equivalent for other stuff that's better than the Google Shopping search? As an example, there are websites dedicated to ammunition, sporting goods/firearms, etc., and I could be ignorant of a similar site for vaping and related products. (Vapospy.com doesn't seem to be broad enough, or I'm not using it correctly.)

I say it's too late - but they haven't fulfilled it yet....

Thanks. It’s bamboo, homemade. It’s not an exact fit, but o-rings make it airtight for 14mm wpas. However, the balancing act was designed for the Lotus, so without the cap on, it just falls. Fun to use, no warranty though. :D

Went to fire up my Lotus, got near nothing from it and found that the screen was missing somewhere and everything had just fallen through once I started pulling on it. Screens are screens, but I figured I'd ask if there's a quick source for any that someone recommends that fit.

Finally test drove the Lotus. First DHV with a torch. I combusted. Probably user error combined with the first time using the Dissim. I couldn't keep the Dissim lit upside down at the flame length I intended and could only seem to cure that by increasing the flame size. I also probably wasn't watching for the first vapor but was so fixated on the flame and not burning the wood that by the time I noticed, it was filled with smoke. The bend in the pipe also got pretty hot - probably a red "flounder" flag for anyone other than a rookie.

I will adapt. I will overcome. I will figure this out.

Just on another day.

You WILL overcome...at first it might have a learning curve. I mastered it...and I have a mobility problem with my hands...the torch flame I do in the center for two seconds just to warm it up and then, soon after I go in a round motion right in the center for about 3 beats...its perfect. I do this maybe three times with a full bowl.

Sorry. More noob questions.
  1. Any thoughts on the Infinity Jars? (Yes, the email with the loyalty discount works on me, as the Gentleman pipe is already in my cart - even though I can't yet master the basics.) My guess is that plane glass jars are fine, but I do like the wood/look/aesthetics.
  2. Any material difference in the Honest Jet Lighter vs. the "High Quality" (sold out) one sold by Inhale? See below.
I'm trying not to blame my tools, but I'm second-guessing my decision to buy the Dissim Inverted Dual Torch. I've found out that the lowest flame setting doesn't work at all, and even the lower settings don't work well for inverted use (wut wut?) - and that at least one person had pointed this out elsewhere online. So trying to get a blue flame the desired/recommended length isn't going to work, and I certainly can't hold this torch as close to the Lotus as shown in the "how to use" video. And to nitpick further, the hole for your finger is smaller than I'd like, and the dial for changing the flame length is pretty tough to move.

At least I got it for 1/2 the MSRP. I can find some use for it.

I'm still looking for the best replacement screen for my Lotus bowl, none of the ones I have seem to fit too well. Crazy because I was just admiring the screen for how well it keeps clean, since the holes were a little larger than most I'm accustomed to.

The Honest Lighter on nowinhale.com is all I use for the lotus and it works great for me. For €9 (or whatever it is) you can't really go wrong imo.

(just about to fire one up but under the vapman click not the lotus!)
