Hey everyone,
i'm a lotus newbie and i wanted to ask:
Does anyone here have any idea how to remove the smoke smell from the Lotus Cap itself if a head is burnt? It happened after about 2 weeks when I tested the Lotus on a bong for the first time... Since then, unfortunately, it tastes like I'm puffing on a cigarette butt
But i wanted to use this vape so much because it's the best vape i ever had and i have managed to stop smoking with it ...

hi. have you opened it (screws out) and looked at the damage? And what kind of wood you have?

Yes i tried it ... i unscrewed the screws. One of them was so tight that I almost broke it when I opened it.
When I removed all the screws, however, nothing happened. I tried to lift the “lotus blossom” with my fingernail ... Unfortunately without success.
So i didn't know what to do and closed it again and wrote a comment here and a ticket for there support.
I have "olive"-wood from the 420 Bundle last month but i think there is no "real" damage.
I'm not sure if my english is maybe to worse to explain it... with "head burned" i mean that the material inside the adapter (head) started to burn while "vaping"... And now it tastes and smells like a smoked cigarette.
I already managed it to clean the glass pipe and the "adapter bowl" (head) and the sieve with iso-alcohol and these parts are fine again ... but as soon as I put on the “lotus cap” it gets disgusting.
I currently have the “lotus cap” in a jar with coffee powder & salt and have rubbed it gently with a mixture of lemon concentrate and water beforehand. But I only read this “idea” on the internet... so I can't say if it helps to remove the smoky taste/smell or if it just tastes like coffee afterwards ... I hope it can be saved somehow

One of the downsides to wood is that you can't just dunk it in ISO to renew it when stuff like this happens. You can, and should, surface treat it with wax. This will do to seal in the smells you are experiencing, and keep the wood protected. Make sure when you do this you get everything, including down those tiny air intake holes (using a wax coated toothpick). Let the wax sit and dry a bit and then wipe the excess on all surfaces with a cloth.
Beeswax is great stuff to have around anyway for oring lubrication.
Once you remove the screws, that lotus ring and everything else pops out. The wood probably swelled a bit and is holding the top part in via friction. I would stick a toothpick in the (now empty) screw hole and delicately try and twist/lift the top lotus print out. Using a fingernail or something thin underneath it is not recommended, because the heat plate is very thin and fragile.
No this has never happened to me leading me to know this fix, why do you ask?

Hi. Inspired by your beautiful lotus-pipes out there. Really cool work! I love the simplicity and the cool look. I wanted one, but shipping to Germany added...mhhh.
I love craftsmanship. I like things that give you pleasure, that you like to pick up, that are simple and functional. So I've ordered some wood and am just trying my hand at it. The glas drawtube has an outer diameter of 13mm and the length can vary. My favorite is one that sticks out 15cm from the wood. Good for my eyes and I can also see what is happening in the clean tube. I also have a stainless steel drawtube. It sticks out 10 cm. The drawtubes are interchangeable and hold by friction. As I said, I'm just trying it out.
The cherry wood pipe does without the lotus bowl (like yours). I imagine a more even roast especially at the edges. The dome screen I use looks less clogged.
No Orc for you??? - Its just an ORC-FACE with the drawtube sticking out of his head... sorry.
OK... I need to slow down on Lotus
(Or its an Apeface ...please help me out... )@NewLotusUser If you can figure out where the burnt wood is you could sand it down a little if possible... but the plates have to be removed. Look at their page for a cross cut and a repair kit... maybe that gives you a clue. Cross fingers.
EDIT: I observed something today that perhaps fits the topic. Just before sunset today I was sitting on my balcony in full sunlight. Now I can't see a flame on my Tripple-Flame lighter but by now I have a pretty good feel for it. So I focused on the hot plate and it looks like it's breathing. It bends down towards the herb chamber. When the flame goes out it bends back to the starting position. Never seen this indoor.

In the end, that is the best partand i have managed to stop smoking with it ...
I don’t really know if that is a good way… seems it will add many extra taste without taking off the bad smell. The best way would be to unscrew it and take of as many metal parts as you can. Soak them in Iso. And for the wooden part, acetone works well, but it will take off all wax / oil used on the lotus.
@maremaresing suggested beeswax, I was wondering what what used on the lotus as a protective layer ? In any case, what is on the wood will go with acetone (so will the smell, unless if the wood is burnt) but you will have to add some oil or wax, you should have a little research, or maybe someone has other ideas ?
