With the lotus you pull as your heating.Do you pull while the mini torch is lit? Or do you heat the plate up and then draw after the torch is out?
Not too late... Ok, so I'll use regular cleaning (iso stem soak). And once I feel it's time I'll remove the screen.Don't try to take the bowl out. It will void the warranty and you'll wreck it. It's pressed into the stem, not screwed in. Pliers and wrenches will bend the bowl. You could pull it out using a lathe or mill but it would still void the warranty. Or am I too late?
So I just joined the lotus club yesterday! Have to say this thing is pretty awesome. Might even be the best vape I've owned. Very quick heatup, great taste, and huge clouds; really all you could ask for in a <$100 vape. It was also the most well-recieved vape among my friends; probably attributable to its ease of use and cloud-making prowess.
I do have one question though- is it possible to remove the stir rod? I have a piece with a dewaar joint and the stir rod won't let the lotus sit flush. Obviously I could use a dremel, but this would require ~90% of the rod to be cut off and I'm hoping for something less permanent.
How is the Lotus with things other than herb? Say hash or oil?
How about jut getting an adaptor? Like one of these? Should increase the height enough to use the Lotus without taking the stirring stick outSo I just joined the lotus club yesterday! It's awesome for hash and with oil it works (but I prefer a nail), easier to get huge clouds than with herbs in my short experience, it doesn't risk catching fire so you can apply high heat.
Definitely the best way to enjoy hash in my experience. If you forget about the cleaning.

Also, to those who own both a Lotus and a big name table-top, how does vapor compare in terms of production and effect? Most I've read is that people say it's really efficient, but I only have an EQ to bench mark good herb vape.
I hear ya, I have only been torching till I see red and then I pull back, not bright red but at the beginning of it.If you use high heat, ie a large red hot spot, you're going to shorten the life of the hot plate and possibly
char the wood. You'll have to decide if that's worth it. I hesitate to offer an oil option for the same reason.

Thanks for the reply.
Do the replacement hot plates still get red in the center or is that feature removed to make device even harder to combust ( no issues here with combustion).
Thanks @Max Jitter.
I agree the single torch worked great for me, it broke on me after 2 days (LHS $5) , good thing I got a back up double torch. I just ordered 2 more torches (single flame) so these should be of quality, one being an honest. With the provided Honest torch, I have yet to scorch a bowl.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like somebody would really have their foot on the gas to combust. The torch itself usually get's close to uncomfortably warm before I see a red spot. For this reason, I think it'd be a great vape to introduce to any beginner. It helps introduce the fundamentals of the thermodynamics involved in a straight forward manner to the novice. It also kind of lacks the "Black Box" factor of some of the non-pipe-like portables too which makes it a little less intimidating (at least I found it so).
I have a two jet torch on the way, so I'll have to back off even further.
Thanks for glass tutorial too, Blaze.
much appreciated....
The replacement hot plates are the same as the original and should act the same way. The internals of the vapor cap are changed and have been reworked from the 1st model to the present one. That's what cuts down on the scorching and should make it harder to get a red spot on the top plate. Apparently the appearance of a red spot varies from unit to unit, but the scorch protection doesn't change.Do the replacement hot plates still get red in the center or is that feature removed to make device even harder to combust ( no issues here with combustion).
