The Lotus Vaporizer

Really interested in this vape. I am unsure of which stem to get, the standard black anodized stem or the glass J-hook? Which stem would provide the best viewing when using the torch?

Fingers crossed for you @jimbob.
I too, just picked up the kit, j-hook and herb scoop, but was lucky enough to take advantage of the code.
Being new, you'll soon learn to hold back on your purchases from mid March till mid April and reap the generous benefits of manufacturer's and retailer's 420 discounts.
This is my first purchase from Lotus, but having read the thread, there is nothing but good vibes from the FC brethren for them, so my gut's telling me they will take care of you.
Best of luck!

If I were to be starting off all over again, I'd get one aluminum stem and a couple of J-hooks (because you will break them) along with the WPA.

The J hooks rock and I'd use one all the time but the aluminum stem works much better for pocket carry and are indestructable.

I'm new to the scene and it's actually the first 'herb' related purchase that I've made online. I'll certainly remember that for next time though.
I couldn't agree more with what you've said. It is the main reason I decided to buy through the Manufacturer.
I hope you enjoy your new toy when it arrives!

I find I get the best hits with the Lotus when I can see the vapor, but I totally agree the black stem is far more discrete and better for transport.

Having been nearly exclusively using the Lotus for a few weeks, I tried the Plenty today after my torch failed. Wow do I appreciate being able to use the Lotus with my water pipe! Plenty was my daily driver for over a year, and I had no clue how harsh it was in comparison to my bubbler. It still did a helluva job of getting me medicated, but it is a totally different experience and while I got lung buster rips, it also involved a lot of coughing and harsh vapor.

I ended up heading out to the sleaziest gas station within two miles, and picked up a new torch so I can use water again. I am going to have to do some of the water pipe mods like Gweilo if I am going to continue using the Plenty with any regularity.

Regarding the torch, I picked up a double flame model housed in a mini handgun. I dislike there is no viewing window, and there is no way to use it as just a single flame; but it is easy to use and does the job very well.

There are tons of Black Friday sales too. I hope Underdog has that sale again...

Anyways, I punctured the hot plate and to my dismay I found out I had a stripped screw.

Being an impatient person, I decided to find a way to get that screw out and the new plate in.

I dismantled a finger nail clipper and used it as metal gripping fingers to slowly twist that sucker out of there. Works, but my thumb is a little sore from pinching the clippers for so long. Basically, have the clippers flat to the plate, then aim for the edges to split the screw for better grip.

Off to blaze a virgin plate. Ah, can't wait.

Welcome to the club! Great choice!
If you need portability, go for the black anodized stem. Otherwise, maybe consider the J-Hook

I personally went for the J-hook and enjoy seeing the vapor form - helps me know when I'm reaching temperature (or milking it too much!). But I REALLY enjoy my D020 since I can see the vapor fill the entire chamber before I clear it.

Sounds like you had some fun! I'd be sweating bullets if I stripped a screw on my Lotus!

Pro-Tip - if you stripped a screw, try putting part of a wide rubber-band over the screw head before inserting your screwdriver. This gives you a little extra "grip"

fwiw, I pared down my collection and this vape made my final four to keep.

Well I need one more vape to have a Final Four.... so maybe this'll work.

But you haven't tried a Firefly... :ko:

It's pretty much between a Solo (to replace one I sold) or a Lotus for 4/20. I think I might have more need for a flame-based portable than another semi-portable. But I've become a fanatic flavor-chaser, so... I don't know what to do.

Anyway. Sorry for the derail. Maybe I need to start an Ask FC thread.

this vape has great flavor when hit right. The last couple of hits per bowl suffer only because I try to stretch it.

True, but I hadn't had a Lotus either when I named my final four. Turns out I was right after I got it! I did hold a FF and found it too big for my linking.

If I could only keep one vape this would be it out of my 3.

Simple but clever I cannot emphasise how much fun this is. It works well and if you need ALL the available to vape goodies along with some not so goodies it's a piece of piss with the lotus.

Despite my mates laughing at me for paying 95£ for a pipe and a lighter. It's so effective for vaping a bowl quickly or slowly on heat as close to combusting I can kill a load in 4 to 6 hits which makes it ideal for me. Easy and quick.

If the toss up between Solo and Lotus is about taste, then i'd choose a Lotus without skipping a beat. If it is about clouds and hit thickness, the same.

The Solo only wins in two categories for me, laziness and stealth. (and by stealth I mean in the view of others, if you can get a minute to hide off from the public the Lotus wins IMO)

The Lotus is faster, more efficient, tastier, doesn't need to be charged, can be more portable, gets bigger clouds, has better extraction, can milk a water pipe better, is more customizable, is not as wasteful, gives you more control, and you never have to worry about it getting wet or having a technical issue.

Got my Lotus shipping notice today, that's a good feeling.
Gotta say, this talk of it beating the Solo has me intrigued. My Solo has, all things considered, been one of my, if not my favorite vape. From portability, to flavor, to ease of use, it's like a portable log vape.

One of the reasons for my jumping in on the Lotus now was the earthquake causing me to consider a power outage, but if the Lotus is superior to the Solo, I'm doubly excited.

SOLO and Lotus - like my two kids, I love them both, neither favored over the other. Like picking fruit - one's an apple, one's an orange ...mmm mmm good!

Stealth? Eh, I guess I've never handled a solo IRL. Because when I was shopping for my first PV, I opted for the Ascent over the Solo based on looks (The pax was out - didn't like the taste). I'd be more comfortable holding something that looks like a shaver or recording device up to my mouth, than a Solo stem piece..... From hearing all the talk on FC after the my purchase and testing, I kinda wish I HAD gone for the Solo over the Ascent.....

That said, I still consider my Lotus to be my daily driver at home, and hopefully soon I'll find a way to make it super portable with a nice carry case (still worried about losing the stir stick!)

Really thinking about getting an Anodized stem and spare parts for my Lotus using that 15% off code as soon as payday comes!

@Ratchett Regarding the Solo's stealthiness, with a stealth stem, and a paper soft drink cup from any fast food restaurant, there is much stealth to be had.
Granted that's a lot of additional work, but worth it if stealth is a must.

Not at all saying it matches the Lotus for stealth. Once the Solo is going, it's going for a couple of minutes at least, so smell and handling is compromising for 5 mins or so.

While the Solo is a cloud machine, my Ascent produces nice clouds with a beautiful, pocket friendly, GoG vape(hoping that has been your experience with your's).
But I still recommend picking a Solo, a vape I feel every serious varporist should have(I have a sneaking suspicion the Lotus will be slipping into the category as well).

To anyone planning on buying the Lotus(Can there be a better time???) and want all the main goodies, you save a couple of dollars by buying the standard kit, and adding the j-hook+accessories as opposed to the j-hook kit and adding a stem, the WPA, and accessories. I was playing with different configurations, and it occurred to me(being I wanted the stem and the j-hook) that this way saved about $8, if I remember.

My Lotus is minutes closer to me than during my last post.

Haha, way to break it down!

True, I see what you're saying, and I have thought about a similar sodacup/straw combo for the Ascent (with some 3D printed magic in the mix to keep everything centered). However for me, ultimately it was the aesthetics; The solo wasn't nearly as attractive as that Burl Ascent (I'm a HUGE wood geek)

Maybe it's because I'm still a vape newb, and while I can produce some small clouds from my Ascent. However the clouds don't nearly compare to what I've accomplished with the Lotus, I never knew what it was like to milk a vape, until I had the Lotus. Try as I might with the Ascent and a WT, I can't produce that same milky vapor.

I'm sure this is also caused by how the Lotus heats the herb (conduction vs convection). Using conduction, I work my Ascent up from Flavor-country 330F up to 400 in 10-15 degree increments, producing small clouds along the way for a LONG session (20 minutes). The Lotus on the other hand, heats a LOT faster, past up to 400+ in faster than I can control the temperature.
I've found Flame control and packing technique do seem to play a HUGE role in how evenly the herb is cooked, but it's still hard to evenly cook the load. After a week, I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I still occasionally end up with an overly dark brown portion of the bowl after my first draw.

I really am in love with the Lotus, I'm on a mission to spread the word to all my combusting friends, the Lotus is unlike any vape they've ever tried before.....

I wonder if I can get a group-discount on a few caps + WPA's lol

Does V3 of the Lotus work with an adaptor on the D020 without resorting to bending the stir stick?
