So with winterized "virgin" oil then mixed with the EJ, we can use it in larger quantities without the flavor degredation, in the included clearomizers? Could I load maybe a day's worth of "juice" into the clearomizer and be satisfied with the flavor?
Yes, with Virgin Ejuice you'll be able to enjoy two to three times as much Ejuice/vapor before the flavor degradation catches up to the atomizer. There will still be some degradation, you are still working with a natural extract with a wide range of compounds, albeit significantly less wax. Something we've experimented with it during winterization, is after the first filtering, collecting the dewaxed extract / ethanol mix back in the syringe, cleaning off the stainless steel filter, and returning everything to the freezer again for a second filtration the next day and then even a third. The amount of wax removed during the second and third filtration is minimal, but the result was an Ejuice you can vape almost until the coils are red and still enjoy the flavor. Due to the diminishing returns and effort involved, we haven't mentioned it in our instructions yet, but we've heard of people purging wax under a vacuum for 12 straight hours so better to spend your time wax filtering rather than purging.
yes it will help you purge the butane easier BUT if you just evap off the ISO there will still be some residual ISO in it.
many people prefer everclear for this because it is safe for human consumption so any residual leftovers won't harm a person like iso or the petro solvents that are used in extraction.
if you just evap off butane or iso or even everclear, what happens is past a certain point the amber like oil begins to trap the solvent in it's 'stickyness' so that it can't evap out. Like i mentioned everclear is safe for consumption any residual it leaves won't be harmful.
when you dissolve bho into everclear (or iso) then the butane that was trapped is released.
You are absolutely correct that extracting into ISO then leaves you with the trouble of purging ISO. The solution we provide to "purging" problem is EJmix and going liquid. EJmix prevents the oil from becoming waxy and "sticky" allowing other solvents with lower boiling points (such as butane, ISO, ethanol) to escape leaving only extract and EJmix behind.
Going liquid you'll have the added convenience of no more oil vials or dabbing tools, but rather dispensing syringes and droppers for accurate and mess free dosing. Lastly EJmix acts as a temperature moderator on atomizer coils, it's boiling point of 380F is in the same range as the desired flavors and oils, and as it is vaporized it carries the good stuff away with it. With extract alone we find the flavor is more muted due to the higher coil temperatures.
And speaking of flavor, we strongly strongly recommend toasting your herbs before extraction (20 minutes at 210F). It is like comparing the flavor of raw garlic to roasted garlic, raw onions to grilled onions, the change is a profound improvement. The oil will be darker and the sharp green aroma gone, but just as there are blonde beers and dark beers so there should be such variety with extracts. These are artisanal Ejuices that we hope will someday be elevated to same level of recognition and respect that wine or scotch receive.
