Hey all! I need to find a good, thick j-hook for my vapes and of course I need it dirt cheap and shipped to Europe for cheap as well!

Let this thread also be a guide for future wanna-smoke-like-a-hobbit (or Gandalf) fellow vaporists! I hope a similar thread doesn't exist, i couldn't find any...

So... Any suggestions?

I got my favorite j hook from Sam at glassblowersdirect.com inexpensive and you get a free six slit downstem with first purchase. Shipping migh be a problem. ALT has a couple cool ones that I've seen and have heard great things from members. I wish someone would make a j hook with a base ala VG bronze style almost, would be perfect for flame vapes! Allright! That's some good feedback! Thanx a lot guys! Some of them had already caught my eye, some not, so let's sum it up!

First of all, I think the ones that don't ship to Europe are iOffer, Glassblowersdirect and Artfire, right? I tried checking out at Artfire and iOffer and gave me a big no but I am not sure about GBD as you need to fill a form and write your country's name... I will include the info though below.

Black Leaf's J-hook No1
Length: aprox. 21cm
Joint size: 14mm & 18mm
Stores: PV (19,95$+9,97$ship.=29,92$ or about 22€), GC (13,02€+5,49€ship.=18,51€)
Notes: Nice looking J-hook, looks comfortable for the Lotus and log/Solo, a bit thin maybe, comes in both sizes, price difference between shops is small but GC seems a better choice of course.

It looks to be comfy as well.

I too like the idea of a j-hook that can stand up on its own via little legs or a base. That being said, I've noticed most j-hooks I've owned and hooked up to pair with ash-catchers, once connected stand up on their own fairly well..

@natural farmer are you looking for just an extended stem/mouthpiece for your vapes or do you also plan on connecting the j-hook to an additional ash-catcher? I saw you already purchased, but maybe for other's knowledge, the base or feet on j-hook would probably only be needed if hooking vape straight into j-hook.. As stated earlier when connected to an ash-catcher most j-hooks will stand on their own or not weigh enough and the ash-catcher just sits with the j-hook balanced in the air. If the j-hook weighs more than the a/c I've found simply twisting the hook while connected will help balance while just sitting on my table..

I've used plenty of different a/c's with j-hooks to provide a cheap/different vaping experience and always enjoy them. My friends always call my j-hook a/c set-ups my transformer bubbler because I can switch things out and stack in different manners.. My favorite set-up is a showerhead a/c to inline a/c to j-hook..

Jsteez, NF wants to use the JHook with his Lotus Vape.

I plan on using it with my HI turbo gong stem, and other gong bowls, and eventually a Lotus (who knows? ) and, as such, there is in fact some advantage in the Jhook being able to stand on it's own like a glass pipe and not as an adapter for an AC.

wwwooohhhooo, sexy!!! So how do you find the comfort of such a j-hook? I have noticed different angles from ALT's straight pipe to yours... What I ordered is somewhere in the middle I think. I guess it depends on your vape but how do you find yours with the Genie?

The taste is much better with the J-Hook in comparison to the coil or wooden models, but that is expected. It is the only way I would really choose to hit my VG as it turns it to a inexpensive glass VG and you can see your vapor. I imagine it would be heavenly with the a Lotus.

I find the hook to be delightful to hold, I got mine at a LHS. I don't think I would enjoy one curved like the ones above. The sharp angle and grooves at the bottom allow the glass to rest politely on my fingers.

But these were offered by OregonGlassBlower on iOffer at one point in time.
He (Mike) no longer lists them but if you contacted him be'd probably make you one.
He's very helpful and I've had numerous orders with him and he's done some requested mods to the items etc all with no problems and he didn't even charge me any extra.

I like it because it has a stand and a nice little natural perc.

Package arrived safely and unbroken!

I had to test it with some bowls in the name of science and got blasted first thing in the morning.. Tried it with small loads, big loads, high temp hits and low temp hits, they all give great taste but I couldn't sense any difference from the aluminum Lotus pipe at all.

It works great with water and better imo without! If you add water it also filters herb particles of course and that's not bad when you have a sensitive throat.

And guess what!!! It can stand on it's own thanks to the little blobs of glass at the bottom! It sits steadier in the first photo and when the Lotus is in it, it even stands upright, although not so steady. Small differences… The slightest bump will throw it down so I better be careful..

I added a cheap e-cig silicone mouthpiece for added comfort but removed it since… I like it better without.

Only think that bothered me a little but I guess I'll learn to live with it until I get another one is that the Lotus needs to be placed in a 18/14 LowPro adapter and that raises it to exactly eye level so the view I have when I draw is this:

Watching the centre of the hot plate on the Lotus is quite tricky with such a view and I have to implement my super depth perception powers to be accurate and don't burn the wood! I hope a 18mm WA will eventually come out so I can lower it a bit or I might find another j-hook with a more acute angle at some time in the future. Not a big issue but it would be easier with a slightly different design.

It should become my home piece of choice of course from now on as I find it more joyful to use than my Ehle bong and I like to be able to also see the vapor when hitting the Lotus. Less diffusion or no diffusion means better taste! With this I can do smaller hits and keep vaporizing my load for longer it seems.

It also seems to match great with my Hot Pod and Solo as well and I hope to do some more testing today...
