Hey all! I'm a longtime lurker here on FC inspired by Herbie to make my first post... When my beloved PD started tasting funky after years of noble service, I decided to upgrade. After discovering Herbie (thanks FC!) and taking the plunge, I can say with absolute certainty I am another very satisfied customer! Not that I don't have a few improvements/variations, but Herbie has truly set the bar next to any other vape I've tried (Volcano/PD/Nano/UD/VaporBrothers/etc). Herbie's vapor quality, speed, ease of use, flexibility and everything else people are saying is true IMO. We can only hope the Herbie dolphins are dreaming up a portable design! Here's my two bits:
• It's a little bigger than it needs to be. The clamshell idea is cool, but I rarely use the whip and store it elsewhere so the whip storage area is wasted space for me. I removed the lid thanks to a suggestion by another member, and I felt like I upgraded my Herbie! (if that's possible, lol)
• I probably won't ever use aromatherapy, and I'm thinking a simpler model without the lid and aromatherapy could be almost half the size. It might be an attractive model for some...a HerbieLite?
• For whip use, I followed another member's suggestions of getting some wider diameter high-temp silicone (McMaster was great). I felt it improves whip use, and really comes in handy connecting to water.
• As others have said, a GonG adapter and glasstop bowl would be amazing. I've macgruber'd a lowpro 18/14mm adapter to the bowl top using a downstem grommet. It works, but perhaps less than ideal.
• My favorite water piece with Herbie is a $99 hydratube I got from GBD–very little water, no splash–awesome! It sits pretty solidly right on the lowpro. I admit I was a little leery when I saw pics of others doing this, but with the closed mouthpiece and the water level I use I'm not worried. That said, I'll use the whip or bags with all except my most trusted guests though!
So all in all, I'm really loving my Herbie!!!
