Thamls very much. I dont actually have a Herbalizer. I intend to use the pads with the Herborizer vaporizer to vape the essential oils. I have been using hemp fiber but it is very awkward, inconsistent and limited. I may give Vapefiend a ring in the UK and ask their advice..

I am happy to help! I am not sure where you would find it local to your neighborhood but the best thing I have found for concentrates in any of my vaporizers is the stainless steel mesh strips that come from @RastaBuddhaTao. They form fit pretty much whatever you need and I've just found them very easy to use. I have accidentally combusted using hemp fiber before in my EVO and milaana, I like taking that possibility away from the equation with the vapes where that's s possibility.

The only place I have ever found them is rastabuddatao's website, but perhaps @VapeFiend.com can help you out or recommend something that works well for you!

I also prefer that mesh for any vape I'll use concentrates in, including the underdog, herbalizer, vapcap, etc.

i've gone through a couple oz of shatter or wax through my herbie and i always used a little bud with the shatter. when i first tried the concentrate pads, they tasted terrible, even after a few soakings in rubbing alcohol then water.

i got 8 grams a couple of days ago and finally tried it without weed. the pad taste has gone away after many grams of use (i have 6 pads and they all tasted the same. nasty.)

i love it. a very nice high used all alone. go figure.
i've tried going to 445 for bud and concentrate and i can't deal with it even though water. i go 400 to 415 degrees and i usually get 2 full bags for each .05 of shatter.

i splurged and tried a .1 bag full. ima do that some more.

i got these for $25 a gram in stead of $40.

my top screen gets too sticky after 4 bags full. love it.

next sale of shatter i'll get more. i'm curious to see how long 8 grams lasts. i'm retired so i vape when i feel the urge. the urge is strong.

i have an omnivap that i haven't tried with shatter. i'll have to fire that up after i come down a bit.

@MileHighHuman - very good questions. here's how i do it.

1 or 2 aroma pads - 2 pads mostly. sometimes i just throw some on top of some ground bud.

Oil only or Oil+flower combo - until today, it was oil + flower. this was due to the shitty taste of the pads. i will still do some concentrate + flower but i'll be doing much more shatter/oil only now that the pads don't add a crappy taste.

Fan or no fan assist - always use the fan.

Bag, Whip, or Steamroller - i use the bag 97.5 % of the time. i usually vape from the bag through a bubbler via a long whip.

Temperature - i go back and forth on temp. sometimes i'll stay at 380 for days and sometimes i'll stay around 400 for days then 410. for daytime and i don't want to take a heavy nap, i'll stay around 380 depending on the genetic.

Inhalation speed - slow on whip and bag.

Size of dose - typically .05 for bud and .05 for shatter. i think it's better to do 2 bags of bud at .05 per bag than one bag at .1. i'm pretty sure i get more mileage that way.

i just realized that when i'd go to 430 to 445, i always had bud in the bowl. just did .1 of shatter only at 430 and it's pretty smooth. i take small sips but very little irritation. nice.

some of the pads have taken a beating. ordered 4 more pads and 24? new screens. that'll give me about 35 screens .

I am curious.... because I found the Herbalizer Concentrate pads to be the purest I have ever tasted (having used almost a dozen similarly constructed pads from various vaporizers.. including the Volcano pads and 10 others.)
I have used the Herbalizer daily since April 15th, 2013.
I am still on my original two concentrate pads (although I own spares).
I use each pad for an evening, and then soak it overnight in a shot glass of 91% Iso.
Next day while that one is drying, I use the other.
They taste more pure and unadulterated than my Volcano pads, or any other woven SS pads out there (yes, flavor beats the Prima pads too)
I am sorry to hear that you had poor flavor, and wondered if you got the pads from someone besides Herbalizer.... because I swear by them, and think they are the best!

i got the pads from herbalizer. maybe they changed a bit from the ones you got originally? i can't explain the taste, kind of metallic. to me at least.

i'll be testing the new pads as soon as they get here. my pads take a beating for various reasons. after awhile they have little pointy bits sticking out from the pads. i poke myself and then cut them off.

i use them for a day or 2 and then soak them for hours to a day or 2 depending on if i need them. i change out top screens due to stickyness several times a day with bud and very often with shatter. little buggers get sticky quick.

i love my herbie and to paraphrase an ancient saying - they can have my herbie when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

I have never volunteered.
Being an educator in my area, and a legal patient over 65 years of age, has brought the makers of vaporizers to me. They figure that I will not expose or endanger myself by testing and publicly posting.... while at the same time they can not be accused of involving a non-patient with tools that he may use with Marijuana.
My age mattered a bit to these people, as I am on a permanent fixed income, and have no financial motivation, other than the intrinsic reward of knowing I teach new patients from the most educated standpoint I can.

I have to agree with that there is some type of metallic taste from the aroma pads that i do not like too.

But, i haven't done much testing due to this reason.

Ive read .1 of wax will work when mixed in with flowers rather than the aroma pad, but I'm just always so paranoid the oil is going to drip down into my halogen heating element

Maybe something you attach to the top of the magnetic bowl??

Like said, i need to do some more experimenting, because i have experienced very large and smooth clouds from the Herbalizer with concentrates. But the large smooth clouds have been hit/miss and i havnt found out what the exact reasoning/determining factor is (yet)

Possible.. entirely possible.
There were changes in the company and the owner and inventor was forced out.
My pads were made before the Herbalizer was released to the public.
My testing went on for many months before they released this unit.
I was at that time given a supply of the pads. .... so there was time in between then and now in which the materials may have been altered.

The metal mesh Volcano pad might taste unusual were the vapor from it to be directly inhaled, rather than stored in a bag and then inhaled.

...don't use the herbalizer everyday ...but when I do with concentrates I find the pads to be of great value...haven't noticed any "taste" from pads...however, that's not unusual...folks report many things that frankly don't seem to affect me....not belittling anyones experience!

I have had an issue with my taste buds for my entire life, that affects very few others.
I can not drink Beer or Soft Drinks/Juices from a can.
I taste the metal.
I can drink from glass.
When I drink beer poured into a glass from the can... for the first couple of sips, I detect (perhaps smell) the essence of the can.... whether steel or aluminum.
I do not doubt @stressed 's findings at all. He could be one of those with a heightened sense of taste/smell where metallic substances are concerned.
I will make it a point to get my hands on a recently produced pad to try out.

...now ....that's one thing I can relate too...I do taste the difference between beer in glass and beer in can...bottle is definitely preferable ....

what i did was vape a whole bunch of shatter on the pads but always with bud which masked the nasty taste. the nasty taste was probably gone long ago, i just never tried them without pot.

the new pads should be in tomorrow. i'm down to 3.399 grams. i got 8 grams, so i'm doing a bit less than a gram a day plus some bud here and there. i'm glad shatter is kind of expensive. i don't need to be doing so much over an extended period of time. i'm too old and smoked too much weed and tobacco to take huge hits so i get a lot of nice medium sized tokes without coughing.

my tolerance is already raising more than i like. i'm thinking of locking 2 grams up and giving myself a break from the shatter. i'm mostly a bud guy. love me some cannabis. i'm a legal med user so it's nice to be able to get whatever i want when i'm in the mood.

i started doing something odd this morning. i noticed that the shatter beaded up and started melting on a kind of hot pad.

when i put bud, then a pad, then shatter, then the other pad, the weed underneath gets very sticky. so sticky i can't just bang it out of the bowl. even after filling the bag twice, the weed is always pretty spongy feeling.

so i started putting 2 pads down and putting the shatter on top. it worked very well. i then put weed in the bottom, 2 pads on top and then shatter on top of the pads. the weed was dry. no stickyness at all. the top screen felt a bit sticky but feeling it now it feels dry (after 2 bags) and ready to go.

i will be experimenting more. i'm thinking a bit less weed on the bottom so the shatter isn't so close to the top screen... work, work, work. 0



edit: well i'll be darned. i put both pads in the bowl, put on .1 of shatter and took the top screen OFF. it's a winner boys. the shatter didn't fly into the thing, it just melted and gave me 2 great bags of vape and no sticky screen. so far, so good.

i just found 5 grams of budlets from different genetics. i got them for buying an oz a few days ago. i'll have to try this stuff. freebies are good.

i'm still not sure if i should start at a lower temp, like 380ish so it slowly melts then push it up to 415ish to finish filling the bag. i try it at lower temps only, at higher temps only and a little of both. i have no idea which is better so i guess i like them all about the same. i think i prefer just shatter without weed. doesn't make me cough as much.

i got some new concentrate pads and used them today. no bad taste at all. they are thinner than the pads i originally got.

unfortunately i just broke off a part of my bubbler. being me i couldn't remember who i bought the bubbler from. after searching here and there, i figured it out and ordered a new one. 1 to 7 days for deliver. carp!

i got 24 new screens too. so nice and clean and smooth i tossed the other bunch of screens into a stash.

i wore out the part of the volcano that we get to marry up with the herbie for balloons. the mouthpiece wouldn't stay on anymore. i wore out the part that makes it click into place. i had to buy a new one.

The only worrying thing I see is it doesn't seem like it has an extra chamber to catch any excess water that might have the chance to fall back into the vape like you see with the vapexhale hydratubes. I'm sure herbalizer did their homework and it probably has a low chance of leak unless you overfill, but still a water catching chamber at the bottom would have been nice for that extra piece of mind.

I wonder if it would also work with the evo? Doesn't look like a standard 18mm joint.

No its definitely not 18mm. Its custom fit to seal over the Verbalizer's magnetic bowl.

Herbalizer is a little late to the hydratube market. These were wanted long time ago. Lol.

Herbalizer needs to work on a concentrate attachment or handheld device.

Not new glass. Sorry team Herbalizer. Im not trying to be rude. Just being honest with you.

The Chongs Choice was a nice addition for people on a lower budget to be able to afford this nice of device.

Some type of 18mm magnetic bowl would be something they should consider too.

I feel the vapor quality is definitely still top tier.

Its just the form factor.

The fact that its somewhat heavy and awkward to hold makes this unit pretty much required to stay sitting on the table, desk, etc.

If it was able to be picked up more easily and have better attachment options for glass and dabs then it'd be much more popular.

Think about how even tall the EVO is, yet its so light it still can be picked up and moved around for not only multiple people, but heigh adjustments.

Same with the Sublimator. Very flexible (but ill admit somewhat short) cable. Still it gives the option for it to adjusted to users preference.

The herbalizer has to sit in the same spot pretty much. Unless you want to hold it awkwardly.

But I still feel the vapor quality from the Herbalizer is top tier.
That blue tinted vapor is very medicinal in my opinion.

....I enjoy the vapor the unit produces...it is..what it is...and frankly I have other options if....I want to move around...you are the 2nd person this week who has stated something about the color of the vapor (blue)...never noticed this...than again ..I'm old...so I probably miss some of these nuances....anyways...I enjoy it for what it is...a desktop vape.
