Is the wattage pull only when Herbie is on standby with the lid open?
Because if it doesn't pull anything with the lid closed it would make sense,
that it pulls the watt to remain in standby mode.
If it happens with the lid closed then I have no idea why!
@darkrom, I can never make up my mind which of my three "top shelf" home vapes is my favorite.
I will give you the comparative benefit of my experience with them, for what it's worth.
The
sublimator with the launchtube is my favorite for hitting dry and with straight keif. But its extraction tends to be one dimensional, as much of the spectrum is lost to sublimate oil, which is nice but requires harvesting and separate consumption. Also its design is not safe for all environments, and manufacturer support in the states is arguably deficient. This is a concern, because the 1.0 version has reliability issues and the new xlr version is still unproven in this regard imo.
The
evo is awesome for hitting through water, and can hit like a semi truck if you want, but will also let you sip at low temperatures. Because of the all-glass vapor path the taste is excellent, nothing but herb. If it's warmed up to proper thermal mass and I want a monster hit, the evo is the vape I reach for.
Herbie is the one I would keep if I could have only one plug-in vaporizer. It's temperature precision and safety are unparalleled, and compared to the two units above the learning curve and warm-up time are non-existent. It also seems to be the most (reportedly) reliable of these three vaporizers. This is also the only one of these three that I would say qualifies as a real medical device, and would fit nicely in an institutional setting. Or a professional office, at a home with kids, etc.
I really like all three, now that my sublimator has been "hacked".
Best of luck with whatever you choose
!
