Looks as though everyone in Europe is having to pay import tax. What happened to the good old days when sellers used to mark packages as gifts!

That would be illegal if the item isn't a gift. Perhaps that's why?
They watch for that stuff. Especially if you're a business shipping 100+ packages a week. I tried sending an international shipment as a "gift" per the customer's request, and it was returned to my house the next day - didn't even leave my city (no explanation given, but once I repurchased and listed the contents as merchandise, the package was shipped properly)

Most UK backers Ive seen have had to pay Import Tax, I checked the gov.uk site and it was confirmed that labelling as a gift doesnt make an item exempt anymore.

Stating the item as "gift" is not automatically exempt from fees contrary to popular belief. If the item is valued at more than £36 you will at least pay VAT (although I have been lucky a few times, it may just slip through but I doubt it) and it must be sent between individuals and marked as such NOT from companies. And as already mentioned in the thread, illegal and can get the company in big trouble so it isnt worth the risk to GHL. They arent gonna mark something as a "Gift" to save you a few quid but possibly get themselves a fine of $1000s or worse!

Does the US enforce the fines for the UK? I can't imagine any company without an international precense in the country really caring about foreign fines from the UK.
That being said, like you mentioned, why should GHL break the law to save others a few bucks.

I preordered the last week of August which was right after they switched to a "december 2015" estimated ship date. and within the last couple days it just changed to January 2016. not that surprised/upset, but not a great sign either that they still continue to overpromise on their ship dates. They also changed new orders so that if you purchased now estimated ship date is February 2016

When the only missing part was the clip. The shipping was taking place in décembre 2014... If that is an honest mistake, what is the last website update if not a lie ?
The worst part for me is that they want us to believe them. Just keep a realistic schedule ! And once you have it, add a few months ! So pissed to be taken as an idiot.
(I don't know if everything I wrote is clear. I'm pissed and french speaking.)

What is NOT clear is why the hell would THEY bother to make that last shipping date update and say November?
Especially because we are backers- it's not like we could get pissed at the delay and demand a refund. If they think they are that close, why not just tell us December?? They could send me my confirmation tomorrow, and be right, for once.
It's just irrational....
