Last I checked, canada was in north america
It scares me to think that they will be making a FF2....the FF1 amazes me everytime i power it up it is a new experience. Sad to say i still have not mastered the technique but i am having a ton of fun trying too!!I also have a great idea for the FF2 or just a new lid for FF1. Make a metal pic for the FF that is flat with rounded edges. Make a small indentation in the FF lid, in between where the two vapor channels go. ( I think the magnets are there also.) now you would have a pick that would go with the FF and be locked in to the lid by magnets. I would have a small angle on the end of the pic where your nail could grab. The rounded edge could be the same shape as the channels so if you had a paper towel or napkin you could use the tool to clean those channels. The other end could be more pick like for stirring or breaking up material.

You guys are too funny! Already talking about the "FF2" and calling the Firefly the FF1.
Anyhoo... just want to share a tiny bit of info... I found that I like holding the FF better with an overhand grip. It justs feels more natural and comfortable to me. And it's stealthier. Left hand, open fist around FF, middle finger on button. I guess if your sessions are very long, it might get too hot to hold this way, but I don't have that problem.
They aren't even considering it just yet. I mentioned FF2 to Sarah who laughed pretty heartily at the idea. They seem to be focused on shipping and servicing the FF, and manufacturing enough to meet demand. I'm sure we'll all be ready for the next gen whenever they get around to it.
I bought them here, my Friend:

(They have steel ones too...not all brass...good service).[n/quote]
I have only been "pre-heating" for about 3-4 seconds before the first hit, and then virtually no preheat after that. I have been using a finger grind, and not packing too tight. Near the end of the bowl I will sometimes double press to get the last bit, or preheat a bit longer.
So; questions:
1. How long are you guys holding on the button during your hit? And how long are you drawing after the release of the button?
2. Does the finger grind seem to be the general preference at this point?
3. The window gets a bit resin-y and I get a few little flakes in the channels sometimes. Is this a product of drawing too fast? Or is a top screen a technique people are still using and getting good vapor results? Advice for this?
4. Average draw speed?
5. How often are you stirring?
6. Cleaning tips?
Definitely gives a few truly tasty and high quality hits per bowl. I have found average of 5-6 hits per bowl.
I should be receiving my FF tomorrow or Monday, but am still hungry for numbers like the ones you are posting/asking. Wish more members were more forthcoming and share their figures!
How are you actually getting the best results?"
LMAO: The MFLB battery is the PERFECT tamper for this device!
Everyone keeps commenting on the great 'taste' using the FF...but I don't seem to be getting that same experience. Mind you, I'm getting clouds... but I feel like I get to experience the 'taste' more with just a regular bowl. Now with my FF, I get the smoothness and coolness qualities of this amazing vape, but I only get a little hint of 'taste' (more like aroma) at the beginning and nothing really overwhelming. When I really start 'tasting' it is when I'm towards the end of the bowl and I start 'tasting' a rather distinct flavor telling that it is cooked and it's time to change. I apologize for sounding like a newbie, but any comments on this? And no, don't blame the herbs as I am using amazing hi-end Dutch flowers from my local Farmacy. Thanks!
Have you guys tried a slightly faster draw? You'll have to play with how fast you draw on it because of the manual temperature control. The terpenes have a vaporizing range from the low 100's to mid 300's, but mostly in the 100-250 range, so perhaps you're vaping them off really fast with the temperatures you're using?
Alright, yeah. I can see that happening... I don't have a FF but the concept is sound as far as I can tell... Might not have to draw nearly as hard as you think, either. Might just be a little adjustment to airflow that keeps enough outside air coming to keep temps lower and flavors higher.I'll give that a whirl but my noob experience my fast draws caused combustion and particles in my mouth. Blah!

We have pages and pages of folks sharing their approach...but I guess it's a lot to sift through. Anyway:
Medium grind, using fingers. (Finger grind...the craze that's sweeping the forum.)
Fill up the bowl to the rim and tamp lightly.
Keep the device level.
Hit the button for a four count, hit steadily, pulling until you feel the natural resistance of the FF. Let off the button midway through the hit. Exactly where? You'll have to figure it out. It's different for every person and every hit. Keep hitting for several seconds after letting off the button. Don't press the button more than once per hit. Pulsing on and off can cause a heat spike.
How often do I shake? Zero times. I find it makes a mess. I open the lid and stir, quite a few times. I break up the material. Eventually, it's much more finely ground, and much darker, and I have to hold the button longer. The last hit or two are not always extractable via the FF, for me.
If there's one thing we've all learned about the FF is that everyone finds a different technique that works for them. You'll figure it out with practice. Don't get frustrated at first. The learning curve is steep but fairly short. (And then it flattens out and you'll learn teeny new things all the time that enhance performance.)
Some pages back someone (Sorry, I've forgotten!) discovered a Chapstick or similar product works perfectly as an FF tamper.
Fully charged. Finger grinded some Fire OG. Very lightly tamped. Turned on. Held button for 8 seconds exactly how long it took for bowl to fully light up and glow. Held button while I drew for about 5-7 seconds. I didn't have time to engage this more but will later tonight but my initial impressions are:
1. Holy hell that is one big ass cloud
2. My Vishnu that toke was super cool and very, very smooth.
3. It only took 10 seconds!
4. Surprised the flavor was NOT very noticeable but it's way to premature to make any conclusions. I'm betting that if I take my time, etc the flavor should be there.
I have the fire engine red with an external battery and charger bought directly through Sara C at Firefly which was a very very pleasant experience!
Let me know if I can help anybody out with questions. Always happy to pay it forward to a community that has helped me tremendously!
