Thanks for your review. I think for me the FF will be a pretty drastic improvement. I'm a metal one hitter bat-cigarette guy and I rarely smoke with anyone else (wife is preggo), so it will be like a really really fancy one hitter

(I don't have a volcano or a pax)

Also my package tracking hasn't updated since Friday at 4 am :(

Mine didn't update either. I was about to go to the store and FedX showed up just before 11:00 am. What a surprise for a Saturday.

But if it has cool down all the way I think it is.

Yeah that's what @TimeCapsuleMonkey meant by back to back I think.

I had a severe early am holiday wake n bake session this morning, did a few elbs full on the evo. But I finished the sesh with a bowl on the firefly and I must say that this little bugger extracts well, it took my buzz to another level. It's a bit weird ergonomically but man it vapes well.

It really is. I just sat it down and looked at it. It was the kind of look when you feel warm all over. Yeah, the Fly is freakin' awesome. I love it. Wow, seriously impressed. Great purchase I'll tell you what (in honor of Hank Hill).

Hell ya, it's a very nice piece. I just love them. Issues are very minor to date. I got the dark grey how's the finish on that light grey? I have to agree with steama and woodrow, the Firefly is the finest portable vaporizer to date, for my purposes.

Does anybody know if FedEx would leave a note if I missed them? How would I know if I missed fedex?

I am experimenting with a new technique that has helped me get more inhales and needs less work to draw each one.

What I do is once I press the heater button, I draw for one second break for one, draw for one seconds break for one, and loop this until I am done. I am also wrapping my lips loosely around the mouthpiece so I am taking in air around the sides as well.

I found that this gives the heater time to warm up again in the break, and the warmer temp allows for you not need to pull as hard to get more vapor. I found this made it easier for me. Before I was inhaling too tightly around the mouthpiece which made a lot of draw resistance and made it hard to draw one. This helps make it easier.

You know the price really good for what it is. I feel great about this thing right now. I feel like I got a bargain. LMAO!

The silver is sleek — anyone would like it.

Exactly, the price is very right...did you get the extra battery and charger for the great deal of 269? No tax and no freight. Great deal thank you FC for your awsome services. You see now why someone would like to put a coat of wax on their unit. It's got an incredible custom paint job!

For tufftitty; if you are not available to accept delivery of your shipment, your courier may leave you a delivery attempt notice with information on when the next delivery attempt will be made. If you need more information about a package, please call Customer Service. You can also track the status of you shipment online at fedex.com.

*steama, does your unit light up real bright them after about 2-3 seconds dim a bit and stay there?

*TimeCapsulMonkey, that sounds about right. When I draw continually on mine it dims and cools down. Can't wait to get my new one to try your technique. Thanks for the input.

I wonder how that will effect the life of the elements? Personally I would rather just press the button once through my entire draw — like it easy. I can feel the heat build with the vapor and midway or a bit more releasing the button because the heat is still producing vapor.

I hope your experiments work well. It is cool that people try all this stuff here.

I interpreted his post to mean that he is heating constantly and was describing his hitting technique (micro-toking). As I understand the FF (I don't have one) if he pulsed the heat like that the FF would overheat.

Thanks I have been tracking but it's not updated since early yesterday am and people are reporting deliveries just showing up. Was hoping to not have to stay home Monday

Thx

Im in Florida so I guess there is good reason for a delay, if my tracking info doesn't change by Monday I will call. I don't think they really can do anything at this point probably anyway...right?

Darnit your right, to late now. I wonder why no update?

For whatever reason I expect it to arrive Monday, people were reporting that theirs have arrived 2 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. According to fedex, my FF isn't scheduled to arrive until 1/2 /14 next Thursday,

That's what happens when you live 3,000 miles from their headquarters. You will be happy when it arrives. I haven't been able to get my package to FedX yet, probably Monday and I already wish I hadn't tapped up the box so good.

Correct! Only push the button once, but the way you inhale is micro-toking. Real easy draw then :)

And I found that if your unit has cooled down for more than 6 minutes are so then you will need to preheat for couple seconds, which means push the button, hold for about 4 seconds, let go. Then repress to start your draw.

I also wanna remark that, because of its design, it is fun using this device. It feels solid and the glow is awesome.

I go where the thrills are
I only changed it to see how to change it!
Yeah, exactly, it must have something to do with the computer control/draw/heat is my guess.

There's an initial heat surge when the button is pressed. It cools down after several seconds (it's not clear to me that it's related to drawing, but I've noticed it dimming mid-draw). The cycle is designed to throw more heat at the start...that's why you can get erratic results by releasing and re-pressing. It's designed to give you a smoother hit by trailing the heat on the back end...if you release the button mid-hit (keep drawing) you "carb out" the vapor path and clear the device of any final vapor. Hit the button again and you get an instant heat spike which sort of destroys the smoothness of the hit. In my experience, so far, anyway...

I feel like I should chime in here as I am a Pax and Volcano owner who has now been using the FF for one day now. Also I am taking everything but cost into consideration here so...

FireFly vs Volcano: There is no comparison when inhaling from a Volcano Bag vs the FF, the Volcano is much easier, tastier, and smoother. Only the first inhale from the FF tastes great, as where with the Volcano the entire bag tastes good. Inhaling a full breath from the bag takes an effortless 2-3 seconds as where the FF takes 10 seconds of slow inhaling (you have to really work for each one). Also packing and unpacking the chamber is much easier with the Volcano, as with the FireFly it is a bit more messy because of brushing the lid and the chamber. And the FF chamber is quite small, only enough for 3-4 inhales. The Volcano is a far superior vaporizing experience at home. But if you only inhale very few times a day, are looking for something at home, and don't want to deal with baggies, then the Firefly is your guy!

FireFly vs Pax: Let me start with an advantage of the FireFly. It can give you a stronger inhale of vapor than the Pax. The Firefly might be a better at home vaporizer when compared to the Pax because you can control the heat to individual inhales, and also each one is stronger. You can also use it better with less. I can pack the Firefly, and with the preheat method I can get 2-3 strong inhales. The first one being the best. The downside to the Pax is that you have to pack a full chamber which uses a lot if your gonna do this a lot.

Other than that, this is not a great on the go device, heres why. First it is kind of awkward to hold, it is not that great holding this big thing in front of your face for 8 seconds. The Pax is much more easier to hold, the FireFly is kind of awkward to use on the go. The FireFly chamber is really small, only enough for 3 inhales, and thats about it. The Pax on the other hand has a large one so you can sit and constantly use it for about 15 minutes or so, but the downside is you need to finish it once you start usually. The Pax batteries last longer too. The Pax is easier to unload and load too, and I think just as easy or easier to maintain. People new to the device can easily use the Pax, as with the FireFly, chances are a novice might not be able to use it right. In regards to draw resistance, since the Pax is conduction, it is constantly generating vapor, so all you have to do is lightly sip it out every few seconds as with the FireFly you have to work a little to draw the vapor out since the vapor is only generated when the hot air rushes by. The draw resistance isn't that bad if you use the preheat method. Originally I didn't have the button pressed down on some inhales and I didn't notice because you can't really see the glow in the daytime when it is in front of your face. So I didn't think I was getting anything, but I figured it out. I am still learning how to use the device which goes with what VapeCritic was saying about an "advanced technique".

Overall, I think the pax is the best portable and the volcano is the best at home experience. And with the Volcano the vapor quality, ease of inhaling, and density is far superior.

The FireFly sits in a weird space between the Pax and the Volcano. It is slightly better in just a few things when compared to the Pax or Volcano. Sometimes I just might not feel like filling a baggy and I think it's at those times when the Firefly will really shine.

I still don't yet regret the purchase as it is a fun device to use sometimes but still the best home experience is the Volcano with the best portable experience being the Pax. Maybe I will change my mind as I intended to keep testing it out and learning how to best use it

I wanna share an update. At the time I made this review I found the FireFly hard to take a good draw from. Now since experimenting with a new technique described in earlier posts, I have been getting good draws without a ton of effort and it feels a bit better to use. More in line with the vapor the Pax produces but each inhale is stronger and tastes better.

So mine arrived! Nice looking unit, high quality build. No real issues with dings but one small scratch on the chrome ring around the window. Bummer.

So I filled it and hit it. Didn't put off any real smell. But also the clouds were really small or invisible. I could definitely taste it though. Quite a bit off draw resistance when compared to an NO2 I've hit a couple of times. I got a little buzz off one or two hits but far less than I'd get off 2 hits on a batty or traditional pipe. I did a 4-5 second preheat and then drew on the same button push for about 10 seconds though felt the need to breathe so stopped. After several hits and a stir the material is dark and toasty smelling. I need to play with this more but feel like I should be getting a good thick visible cloud? What are you guys seeing?

I've hit a pax on high and the draw resistance feels about the same to me. Though on the pax I got a big big cloud that actually made me choke for a couple of minutes. Felt more like smoking to me and I guess I was expecting a similar result here.

Set my expectations for what I should be looking for out of the firefly? Clouds? Choking? Or a less visible/invisible exhale vapor that you just can taste but still get a buzz from?

Thanks for all the posts.

The most common mistake that I see people make with vapourizers is pulling too hard. I have said way too many times to count: if you feel resistance then you're pulling too hard!

There are exceptions, but that is a really good place to start, especially with a portable. Pulling harder almost always gets you less, not more. If you overpower the heater then you won't get much vapour. It's not a bong, it's not a pipe, it's not a joint—it's a vapourizer.
