I would imagine the battery that they put in the factory is their spec. But with recent failures/heat issues etc who knows. I guess to really know you'd need the spec of the oven. The only other unit involved would be Bluetooth but that power is minimum.

So got my RYOT Rat Pak Sm smelly proof today. Much smaller than Davinci's. But that's what I wanted, just big enough for 1 battery and the IQ, that's what I got, only I still screwed up. I measured it exactly for the IQ itself. Not with the 10mm adapter. That's how close I measured this case. So When I go out I'll have to use the Flat Mouth Piece. Other than that it's perfect size.

It's a hit & miss game, I ordered a pair of Samsung 30Q (15 amp) to see if these batteries can push out enough power to run the unit while at the same time maintaining it cool to the touch.

@TNT_error There's no aftermarket sleeves for the IQ and no one has come up with the idea of manufacturing one. I've been searching for a silicone sleeve that can fit the IQ but still no luck.

Maybe @Ratchett can help...

Can you elaborate? Silicone sleeve? If so that'll be great!
................................................
I call @Ratchett Delta 3D "caps" as "sleeves". What were IQ sleeves meant to help, smell??
That's what the Pax 2 cap/sleeve pictured below does. And protects the ends, offers protection when put in a bag with other items, helps you deal with "hot end" after vaping, etc

I dont understand the battery confusion. Does davinci not sell replacement batteries that are fully compatible with their device and dont cause heat issues?

@Mr. Me2 Thanks, I'll PM @Ratchett

@MinnBobber I'm looking for a sleeve similar to the silicone sleeve that comes with the Arizer Air.

@Randy Lahey If the battery that comes with the unit would work properly there wouldn't be no heat issues with most of the units that have been sold.

@Ratchett A silicone sleeve that wraps around the IQ but does not cover the chamber or mouthpiece and with a small window to view the LED screen.

Someone rang? Hahahaha

What sort of sleeve are we looking for on the Davinci IQ? Something like a bumper sleeve to protect in transportation, or something to encapsulate the odor of the vape to make it "odorless" in your pocket?

Hi Rachette. The IQ gets hot and needs something to protect sensitive hands. Best not to cover the top or bottom of the IQ, so a sleeve is the deal. How about a clamshell with hinge on one side and a clamp or fastener on the other.

BTW. I can vouch for this man's excellent 3D design and retailing based on personal experience with Ascent accessories he sells.

Have there been any reports at all of anyone having luck with a different battery? It seems like lots of people have stated they are going to buy different batteries to see if it will make the unit run cooler, but I haven't seen any results.

I am thinking of buying but have some reservations:

I won't need 10 minute sessions. Usually my GF and I take 1-2 hits and we are done. Then we will take a little more in an hour. Will the IQ work well for this purpose? Can I just turn it off when done and then back on when we want to use it again, or is that a major waste?

Second, I am a little nervous about the customer service issues. That said, is there some sort of advantage with buying from the manufacturer? Something about credits for accessories?

Finally, anyone know if the black is going to be back in stock soon? :)

So just wanted to review a couple of 3rd party items I purchased for my IQ, first up was those star screens.
Probably will go with something more like a Honeycomb next time. It is very easy when cleaning a bowl to take a tool and break one of these, haven't done it but I can see it happening.

2nd up is my RYOT Rat Pak Small Case. This thing is great. Only problem I have with it is I measured to precisely. I looked at the dimensions of the Davinci on there site and then looked at the dimensions of the Rat Pak and thought perfect size. Forgot about the fact that I use the 10mm mouth piece. Oh well. So when I go out I'll be using the stealth mouth piece that's all. But other than that perfect.

Im not so sure a session vape is the answer for you if you have such light use. Something like a firefly 2 (convection) might be better because instead of long run sessions, it is on when you hold the sensor, and off as soon as you let it go. No wastage. The small bowl means for very efficient use of materials. I dont know how the IQ works when you shut it off, so ill defer to others on that.

If you buy from Davinci you get credits. Davinci will not warranty online sales from "Amazon, eBay, Rakuten, Ali Baba and unauthorized resellers" - their words to me yesterday.

Actually I really wanted an IQ but was scared off by the issues. But as you can see a few posts before this one, one of the members wrote a long message to me talking about how the problems are being rectified and how Davinci is stepping up.

Because of that message, Im going back to the shop today to see if they will extend to me the same deal. Im gonna roll the dice on an IQ.

*edited this because Im getting different answers from different staffers at Davinci about how their warranty works. Now likely will not get one from my local shop here **:cuss::mad:

I am completely happy with my battery/charger setup. See my previous recent posts!

Atta Boy Randy! I'm sure you will be happy you did. Get the DaVinci glass spacers and the DaVinci smell proof carry case if they have it too! Perfect fit (even with the extended mouthpiece) and just enuf extra room for a few other necessities too!

Good luck!

Im actually on the phone with DV right now. They sent me an email last night telling me that as long as I bought from a real store (not e sellers) and kept the receipt, then DV would cover the warranty. So Im about to go down and buy the unit so I thought Id call DV and be sure. Sure enough they told me something completely different - that they wouldnt cover the warranty.

So I have it in writing that they will, and a phone call that says they wont.

This is what people refer to when they talk about bad CS. Im pretty pissed right now. Was looking forward to it but am not buying it if its not covered. I think I dont want to buy it out of principle because of the way DV handled this.

Weird that U got 2 different stories. However, I can't blame them for not wanting to honor a warranty on a device they are not certain hasn't been tampered with or stolen, or who knows what.

Anyway, that's a bummer dude. I feel U on the principal sentiment, but I wouldn't give my IQ up to prove a point. Once U have it and it's registered, they treat U great. All I can say...

Well bummer. I really like the IQ but feel that if I just want 2 hits or so then I will be wasting a ton of flowers.

Any opposing views before I abandon for the Firefly 2? Would be great if I could just pick the IQ up, take a couple hits and repeat every hour or so without burning through tons of herb.

Thanks!

The only part I see an issue with is not cleaning it out after a session. Leaving herb sit in the oven as it cools just makes a mess that is too much of pain to deal with when the solution is as easy as wipe it out real quick with an ISO pad and the bristle brush after each session.

I myself do 3-5 hit sessions occassionaly with the large spacer and on Smart Path 3 or 4. But I always empty the oven and swab it out b4 it cools down. I want to make sure it sizzles when the ISO pad hits the oven walls because it cleans it better.

I'm thinking the convection vape is probably what U are looking for though. And if I was gonna buy one of those, it'd be the mighty. Especially now with the dosing capsules and little 6 pack "magazine" system. Super slick.

First that's what Smart Paths are for. I don't do 10 min sessions either. I'm at about 3 min's and I'm done. But like you I do it multiple times over the course of 3-4 hours. I have Smart Path 1 setup for this.
Comes on, goes to 390 for 3 mins shuts down.

Even though I've had my share of lemons, I absolutely love my IQ, can't imagine using anything else. And there customer service has stepped up to the plate lately.

If your willing to go 3rd party Vapornation just started selling IQ's so I would imagine they would have Black ie: Stealth in stock.

If you want just 2 hits take a look at DynaVap.

Got some good news at the shop and just brought home an IQ

- I want to create a shorter smartpath (5 mins) can someone give me the lowdown on how each temp range functions in terms of taste/clouds?
- it is indicating fully charged out of the box. Is that normal?
- how many 10 minute sessions do you get before you empty the oven?
- Do you have to use the flavor chamber? What do you put in it just a fresh bud?
- app crashing like a mofo. Cant create smartpath without it crashing every time. Anyone deal with this?

Thanks!

I switched my ff2 for the iq since I wanted the opposite experience. The iq is a conduction, session vape so it's gonna cook either way. You can use spacers and do a 1-2 minute sesh.
