The Cloud EVO Anticipation Thread

My unit still working great. I love how the LEDs are working when they are working correctly. I can always check where the temps is.
When I keep moving the dial slowly just around the red - green zone just above the real temp I can often get the red light issue. It stops doing that PWM and just goes red and doesn't show green when I move the dial over the real temps. Restart helps. It was only glitchy at the first time and probably it was a bad power cord that I used just for being soft...

When I induced this red light I moved the dial somewhere, waited, then restarted and it went green. So far I think the heat control still works when it goes forever red in my unit.
I've never had it overheat and never combusted. Actually it takes a max temp and several pull to get cofee ground like ABV. My old Cloud run a bit hotter at max.
When the unit is green I always know its on temp. It never went into red light mode from green. But it often goes from red and I just need to restart to turn it green.

I could post you a couple of ELBs if you want @vapecat - I'm in the opposite position to you as I ordered some extra ELBs and glass mouthpiece a few months ago thinking I'd get my Evo soon (foolishly) so I have all the peripherals but no Evo (apparently dispatched two weeks ago but still not arrived and no tracking updates at all- does it pass through the Bermuda Triangle on it's way to the UK?).

It's a really poor show that the international orders were sent out with seemingly random items enclosed, some with hydrafeet (hydrafoots!?) some without etc etc. Why on earth was each parcel not checked and standardised? It's not like there were thousands of international preorders. It just adds to the belief that vapexhale don't give two hoots about us overseas indiegogoers, which I'm afraid is starting to become evident to me...

Anyway receiving an Evo after six months of drooling anticipation only to discover that you can't use it because you are missing an inconsequential metal filter must be the most frustrating thing in the world! Message me your address matey and I'll pop some in the post tomorrow- you can return the favour when vapexhale send you a mighty bag full to apologise!

Wow that's brilliant, thanks @liscoe! Yep it was so disappointing to find them missing, definitely the lowest point so far.

I'll send you a pm now :)

Not a SINGLE unit working correctly, poor packaging for glassware, missing temp knob, missing ELBs, the lie of Hydrafoot being a "gift" while many domestic got it too, I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

Stonemonkey, you should be ashamed of yourself... seriously.

@pittiserria

I suggest you tone it down and wait for your cloud,

This was my packing, and the HT was wrapped with paper as glass suppose to be wrapped...

like @Seek I get glitchs with the RED light, 1 cycle green works fine and one cycle red is on, I'm not sure its powered off automatically.

When it was red at 1pm, I managed to combust my chocomille lol but I dropped it to 10 - I think I switched it off and on and it was green, it worked fine.

All is good but I wish I could vape real stuff!!!!! the Puck is great!

Just cancelled my preorder had enough now of being messed about :(

Don't be too upset dude, just look at the positives that when you finally get one it will be worth it, all the kinks will be worked out and it will last longer and therefore worth the investment (in which Clouds certainly are).

My two cents would be to wait for a stockist from where you live (mine would be Vapefiend in the UK) which shouldn't be too long and then your protected and can swap it for another if problems do arise.

Wow, seriously no knob! No ELB's! :disgust:

Vapecat Im suprised you didn't murder someone! Such a wait only to be served up an unusable evo.
Im glad Liscoe is sharing the love, hats off good sir! If you have any screens (EQ screens are real easy) damn even a tea strainer you could so ghetto rig something up, I would!

Nice write up Seek love the double layer of wristbands, she needs it!

Anyone had a response to the 'red light' or 'orange glow' via support tickets yet?

This thread is in need of good news, so I'll just report here another day passed and my EVO still works well. I am getting the red light, but I've never got combustion and it never overheated.

Yeah I agree the thread is def in need of good vibes. Mine does vape f ing sweet! And I have learnt how to avoid the red light generally, but the report of it changing from green to red on its own worries me a bit. And My bamboo glass is now quite frosted... bahhh what happened I started out positive I'll try again...

Loving the evo's..
+vapor pumping abilities!
+weight
+not metal
+green to red strobe when close to temp
+looks, looks so good on my desk rather than on the screen!
+Heat up time
+ Ease of use! Seriously this is why I rate it, packit stickit ripit clearit done. Just feels how it should. :)

The elb/gong seems more refined I don't get any elbs jammed in the joints like I used to with the old elb's and cloud+

hmm what else, my neg list is still pretty long with this experience. I've got more I'm sure but its time for dinner.

Oh the recycler looks dope! Theres another haha, really like it. Though it has a few neg's too but I'll ignore that right now.

:peace:

Yes I was in a foul mood yesterday when I found out, the other half was lucky to survive it. Fortunately @liscoe came through with his offer and that helped to cheer me up. What a gent.

Great idea on the EQ screens, I don't know why I hadn't thought of that! I'd already read about the mini ELB for concentrates months ago. I do have an EQ and I've managed to use 2 elbow screens to sandwich together some herbs. Got that in the bamboo now and it's warming up!

...

Just taken my first hit from the puck and wow, I can see what all the fuss is about now! Off to do some more testing! Thanks @Teedub!!

This is a good thing, as it saves you having to go through the RMA process. If you had a trtacking number now it would just mean another red-light special is on its way to someone. Wait until they fix things before worrying about getting tracking details. Of course, they first have to work out what exactly has gone wrong. :/

I know that you're right and not getting one now is better than getting one... But after all these months of waiting, seeing that tracking number is like seeing the finish line and I'm so ready for it!

Yesterday when I used the EVO I gotten green light but I haven't switched it off, how long should it be before it turns off automatically?

The EVO is supposed to have a 1 hour shutoff timer AFAIK.

Mine doesn't seem to have a shutoff timer at all though.

Mine was shutoff only once after 20 minutes maybe lol, I have no shutoff as well I think.

Quick Update. We have our international power supplier, our heater supplier, our PCB supplier, and engineer all looking at this issue to identify the culprit. They are testing as many variables (ohms/voltage/etc) as possible to reproduce the blinking light and overheating. As I get updates on the solution, I will be sure to update this forum.

sweet update, thanks.

My Evo is also still working, watching it closely (bamboo led in field of sight when powered on)
So far no more glowing. Can't comment on auto shut off, cycle to often :D

When I cycle the power to fast, switching on and not waiting a second or two before turning on I often ged three red blinks. Works after a slow cycle tough :D

Still amazed at that heater power and good extraction

Umm... maybe I'm wrong but I've read all 220v reports, is there also a blinking light problem? Putting aside all other problems, I know of a single major problem which is a non-blinking red light which does not turn green unless a power cycle is performed, thus causing overheating. The overheating is just a side effect to this problem. A power cycle every 15 seconds practically makes the Evo fully functional.

Just a thought.
If we connect a 220v->110v voltage stepdown to a 110v->220v voltage stepup to the Evo
Wouldn't we emulate the exact environment of VXL's lab in which every unit was thoroughly tested for months and worked perfectly?

^^^ Yeah the light doesn't blink it stays read instead of turning green. It can blink red occasionally when I power cycle too quick. But the main problem for me is that it stays red. Then it can also continue to overheat because it has not registered it as at temp.

sidenote: I had a green led issue last night. The led stayed green at every temp turning the knob made no difference had to reset to get rid of it.

The connectors are shorting with each other and the PCB due to a lack of clearance.

I easily prised the switch out and using insulation tape to insulate the 240V connectors which were shorting and now my Evo is fixed ...

This'd only cause power cycling of the unit when shorts happen, and I don't see how that would interfere with the light changing from red to green. Indeed, turning it off and on makes it go green if it's at temp, so if they're shorting regularly the units'd ironically work better than they do as is, because it's at least go green sometimes without a manual reset.

It also doesn't explain the runaway heating phenomenon which occasionally occurs, even at just "noon".

And there's also the rarer blinking red, which if it's like mine happens in bursts of three flashes, repeated, which I assume is a diagnostic code of some sort but VXL haven't told us what it means yet. I suspect it's an overheat condition, because I only get it when my unit has been on for a while, and always get it after a meltdown. I've had "code orange" thermal runaway three times now, though the second two times haven't done any further damage after the first time cracked the glass. Turning it off for a few minutes seems to clear the blinking red LED issue every time, at least.

To me this looks like problems reading or correctly interpreting temp data. Most of the time the unit is heating correctly but for whatever reason doesn't update the LED colour status to say it's ready, which suggests that it can read temp data and the heating algorithm works correctly, but for some reason the logic that's supposed to change that colour isn't being triggered. But then, other times it just continues heating full power and can get to glowing orange glass in just a few unwatched minutes, which suggests the temp data isn't reliable enough to set the heater output correctly. Strange. In both cases though, since the unit doesn't update the LED status from red to green, it's not working correctly, just usably, assuming the user is willing to baby it enough.

That, or they're using the A/C frequency to clock something (like thermistor sample interval), and expecting 60Hz like US power, not 50Hz like almost all of the 220 or 240v world, and this is confusing the electronics somewhere. An "international" unit needs to be happy from 200-260v (which covers 220-240v, since devices need to handle a range 10% either side of their nominal spec), and at 50 or 60Hz, to cater for all markets.

Seriously tested ... Functioning correctly ... Not sure that I am ... Wow very vaped

In answer to why this fixed my problems ... Consider the effect of shorting ... It bypasses all thermostat control. The live terminals were in contact with the PCB.

Anyway ... All my problems are fixed

Okay, so this fixed your unit turning from green to red on its own yeah? Mine has never done that. I've only had the red light not turn green - with the potential of overheat. Did you experience the other issue I and others had, the infamous stuck red light as well?

Nice post Anonymouse, send that to vxl. Sums it all up nicely.
