...but I think he has a conscience...
Why do you think that?
...but I think he has a conscience...
I would think that even a Rumsfeld or a Cheney could muster a conscience now & then, albeit fleeting. What brings them back to themselves, sans regretful reflection, is a warped sense of purpose and justification for a cause that they've sworn an allegiance to. This they would call virtue. Now, enter Trump in the same vein...Why do you think that?
Momentum!... a recent CA poll Bernie was winning? Yep 61% in favor. Whoot.
The problem with that is Bernie has darn sharp elbows. At this late date and with no hope of actually securing the nomination he is still suggesting daily that she has been bought by various boogeymen.Ya know, I asked previously that if Hilary won, if she'd pick Bernie to be her VP and everyone said, "Not a chance in hell." but if she does squeak by a win in the primary, she may want to strongly consider it to solidify the party and make sure that Bernie supporters will come out and vote for her in the General, eh?

I like the sanders idea and agree that it would unite the party, but unfortunately I don't see them coming to a consensus on very much. If they did it would have to be hillary moving sanders way more than not.Ya know, I asked previously that if Hilary won, if she'd pick Bernie to be her VP and everyone said, "Not a chance in hell." but if she does squeak by a win in the primary, she may want to strongly consider it to solidify the party and make sure that Bernie supporters will come out and vote for her in the General, eh?
And BTW, if I was Trump, I'd pick Nikki Haley in a heartbeat as my VP. I know she said she doesn't want it but I'd recruit here anyway and if I did, she would come on board.

Gotta agree with ya....in this case opposites don't attract. While they both have commonalities at a general level the details get in the way big time. For example...they both want health care for all but they don't have common ground on how to get there. I don't see Bernie warming up to the Clinton approach or vice versa.
When one considers the VERY heated debate and expressed differences when Hillary was running against Obama for the Presidency yet he picked her as Sec. of State, for me, Hillary picking Bernie for VP seems a bit more plausible, eh?
The thing is when Obama became inevitable in 2008, Hillary pulled back. She was actually in a much better place to go for a brokered convention (she had more votes but fewer delegates) than Bernie is today, and she decided to drop it rather than fight Obama to the bitter end. The nature of Bernie's accusations - that Hillary has been bought (though he always points to banks and conveniently avoids the unions and so forth who paid similar amounts to hear her speak) - make it very hard to kiss and make up, especially given the fact that he is still making these accusations at a point where he cannot become the nominee and he is only hurting her now, not helping himself. When one considers the VERY heated debate and expressed differences when Hillary was running against Obama for the Presidency yet he picked her as Sec. of State, for me, Hillary picking Bernie for VP seems a bit more plausible, eh?
The concerns with BOTH parties is that their constituency is going to sit it out rather than vote and THAT could cost them the election. Will strong anti-Trump GOP voters vote for him or sit it out. If they sit it out, it will make it damn near impossible for Trump to win. Will strong Bernie supporters vote for Hillary or will they sit it out. If they sit it out, it could pose major problems for Hillary. In my opinion, winning the election takes precedence over their differences.
I see your point but remain skeptical. I've viewed the Sec. of State appointment as a consolation prize given to Hillary because 'it was her turn' and it didn't pan out and also to keep her in the limelight for the next run.
Sec. of State is one thing....but running on the same ticket requires some ties that bind from a position standpoint and I don't see any.

Bernie did an amusing turn this afternoon on PBS News Hour. Judy Woodruff said to Bernie that Hillary has charged whenever foreign policy comes up Bernie cites his vote against the Iraq war but has little else of substance to say. Bernie couldn't help himself and went full-on Marco Rubio and ended up doing exactly what Hillary predicted.
Did I mention that Bernie consistently refers to himself with the royal 'we'?
Obama is on CNN speaking at Howard University's graduation. He is such a great speaker, he has me in tears.
