The 2016 Presidential Candidates Thread

I believe that if your conscience tells you no, its generally not a good idea to do it. And for all the people here saying they will hold their nose, if they wrote in or voted 3rd party we could actually do something about it in the short and long term instead of just continuing to hold their noses. We have a lot of power when we vote, and if people voted for what they really believe in instead of voting based on fear, we would be in a much better state right now.
I would definitely hold my nose on this one if I thought it would do any good.

It's that important to defeat drumpf.

I never imagined we could get a president worse that dubya; but I never imagined that we would re-elect that motherfucker either. The world still hasn't recovered from that administration, and drumpf could do so much more damage it's not even funny. It's too bad that we have to choose between these two candidates, and nobody is more frustrated about it than I am. Bernie was a once in a lifetime candidate.

If I thought my vote would be anything but symbolic I would vote for hillary, but in my state the only vote that will count will be for drumpf, because he will grab our only electoral vote easily. I can't talk myself into even considering a vote for drumpf, and that pisses me off because bernie could have taken this state. Hillary never will, so I am free to write in a non-consequential vote since it won't count anyways.

Any blue voter in a winner-take-all red state knows exactly what I am talking about

The tribes have gathered and we know officially know the four names, one of which will be the next (or last) President of the United States.

It would be nice if the people of America actually believed in democracy and actually voted.
It would be nice if United States believed in democracy enough to assure, by law that no one was denied their opportunity to vote.
It would be nice if states in this country believed in democracy enough to stop deliberately obstructing voters.
It would be nice if some of us did not deny the obvious; this is not a both sides do it equivalency.

One tribe is populated clearly by many very nasty people who claim the privilege of expressing that nastiness without the bother of polite conduct.

After Thursday, Americans can compare the two tribal gatherings and see which tribe has the most heart and which the most hate.
For those who seek original source material, we have the party platforms.
Do you not believe Republicans when they tell us what they plan to do to us?

Now this breaking news from the reality challenged tribe of people brainwashed by those who can not even say "democrat-IC" party. The my mind is made up and facts be damned regressive-conservative-republican mindset tribe that eschews fact-checkers.

Scopes.com
"On 26 July 2016, the Facebook page "Uncle Sam's Misguided Children" posted a photograph purportedly showing the Palestinian flag on display in the audience during the opening day of the 2016 Democratic National Convention (DNC), along with the claim that American flags had been banned at the event because they were "offensive to so many Democrats"
"Several other right-wing web sites known as purveyors of misinformation, such as The Gateway Pundit, Barenaked Islam, and The Daily Caller also published articles reporting that no American flags were present at the DNC"

It is false, a bullsh*t spin meme started by some spawn of Reagan's defunding of schools and shuttering mental hospitals. It comes from the tribe of fevered minds ranting these past 7 years that gun confiscation was around the corner, but now guaranteed by Hillary. The same illiberal folk who know America is now worse off than it was in 2007 and ALL of the facts prove it, Fox says so*. The same tribe of stunted, angry inner-children tweeting vile, racist, hateful vacuousness toward the 'Mothers of the Movement
dnc.jpg

BTW, apparently Fox News, at least, eventually admitted their error in reporting that there were “no American flags” in the convention hall

To me this election is clear. There are 2 parties with very different policies.

1.
Believes that there should be tax breaks to all tax brackets. With those in the top ones gaining the most. In the amount of ~10tn dollars over the next ten years.
Is led by an overtly racist, ignorant & overly confident man with zero government experience.
Lies(a lot).
2.
Believes in mild to large tax increases. With those in top ones paying the largest increases.
Is led by someone with lots of experience in Politics.
Lies.

Why would the 'common man' vote for option 1?

I believe that if your conscience tells you no, its generally not a good idea to do it. And for all the people here saying they will hold their nose, if they wrote in or voted 3rd party we could actually do something about it in the short and long term instead of just continuing to hold their noses. We have a lot of power when we vote, and if people voted for what they really believe in instead of voting based on fear, we would be in a much better state right now.

By that same token, does your conscience not get in the way when you realize that you are increasing the chance of someone like Trump becoming president? Unless you live in a country with proportional representation if you don't vote for a party that has a chance to win, your vote unfortunately means very little. You can say that if all the people would just vote for a 3rd party things would change but the numbers don't paint as pretty a picture. In the last election the 3rd party got less than 1% of voters. Even though those numbers are polling at ~10% this election it's still very far off the neck & neck battle of the two main parties.

Unfortunately for you in America you have a two party system, you can vote for the other parties but it is essentially the same as throwing away your vote. I think all countries should have some form of proportional representation.

Why won't you answer my questions, I'm happy to answer any of yours.

eh, people need to lighten up. Memes are good humor. Humor is good for the soul. The memes must remain!

Gary Johnson seems kinda goofy and doesn't have a strong personality. Promising to make cannabis legal isn't worth voting for him for. I've heard his stance on things and he's really similar to what Bernie believes in. But he's no Bernie. I've listened to him speak and I've read about Jill Stein and have watched some videos of her.

Johnson is a libertarian like the K0chs and much of the GOP. Libertarianism = the right to be as bigoted as you want to be without government interference.
Here is what libertarians believe in. He is nothing like Bernie. Nothing at all. This is from 1980 but they have not changed their platform much at all.

KOCH GAME PLAN
In 1980 when David Koch ran as the Vice Presidential candidate on the Libertarian ticket this was part of their platform. It is a manifesto of what David and Charles Koch expect to receive in return for their large investment in American politics.
This is just part of their platform to destroy the country.
• We urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.”
• “We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.”
• “We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.”
• “We also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.”
• “We favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.”
• “We propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.”
• “We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.”
• “We support the eventual repeal of all taxation.”
• “As an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.”
• “We support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.”
• “We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.”
• “We condemn compulsory education laws … and we call for the immediate repeal of such laws.”
• “We support the repeal of all taxes on the income or property of private schools, whether profit or non-profit.”
• “We support the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency.”
• “We support abolition of the Department of Energy.”
• “We call for the dissolution of all government agencies concerned with transportation, including the Department of Transportation.”
• “We demand the return of America's railroad system to private ownership. We call for the privatization of the public roads and national highway system.”
• “We specifically oppose laws requiring an individual to buy or use so-called "self-protection" equipment such as safety belts, air bags, or crash helmets.”
• “We advocate the abolition of the Federal Aviation Administration.”
• “We advocate the abolition of the Food and Drug Administration.”
• “We support an end to all subsidies for child-bearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children.”
• “We oppose all government welfare, relief projects, and ‘aid to the poor’ programs. All these government programs are privacy-invading, paternalistic, demeaning, and inefficient. The proper source of help for such persons is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals.”
• “We call for the privatization of the inland waterways, and of the distribution system that brings water to industry, agriculture and households.”
• “We call for the repeal of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.”
• “We call for the abolition of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.”
• “We support the repeal of all state usury laws.”

Every single one of these ideas is rooted in John Birch Society dogma mixed with libertarian nonsense and states rights idiocy that they learned from their antiAmerican government bigot father who was a bigwig in the Bircher movement.

Keep this list handy. Pass it on as often as possible.

Answe me then Carol King how my delusional Republican family members who are worse off aren't actually worse off and are delusional?

Blame me for closing it I don't care. This thread isn't bipartisan as is so of its closed for me calling ta'll out on BS arguments so be it; get stronger points.

I honestly just find it downright hilarious how I can show proof of false misconception and I'm the guy with the false perception.....zzzzzzz stupider folks will fall for that.

Stupid Hillary supporters....that's the last few pages switch Trump with Hillary that's all you mensches spout.

I hope everyone realizes I have an issue with the Hillrey Fans. And them only. You bred this discontent:

There is no way of verifying your claims that your family members are worse off because of Dems.
In fact I have issues understanding your points due to a lack of evidence or facts.

@Silat Thanks for posting the Liberatarians agenda. It's nothing like Bernie. I don't agree with their ideas at all. I had heard about not getting involved with wars in other countries and the rest was a blur. I didn't know enough about him to comment.

I think that there needs to be more made of the fact that Trump hasn't showed his taxes. They need to push his buttons. There are certain things that really piss him off. Show America what a ticking time bomb he is over and over again.

His weakness is his tweeting all the time. That gets him in trouble. He is his own worst enemy. He has everybody around him trying to make him look as presidential as possible. I'm sure they are all nervous that he's going to say something stupid all the time. And he will.

Dems are horrid at fighting back. They are decades behind the reich in messaging.
But remember that Libertarians believe in the freedumb to be as bigoted as you want to be.
If you just remember that you will be golden. :)

"O'Reilly goes full unabashed racist over the first ladies mention of slavery building the White House.
To be fair he has shown his racism many times before.
O’Reilly, who forgot that the Irish used to be considered a “different race,” one worth suppressing, oppressing, and depressing on the basis of nothing other than their red hair and funny way of talking, thinks that all slaves should be happy.
Why?
Because he likes dressing up as a slave for his dominatrix.
It’s fun for him to be a slave.
What is all the complaining about?
Didn’t they get good food before being f==ked in the a$$?
Didn’t they get a nice place to be raped at night?
Do you know how much a cat-o-nine-tails costs?
How’s a good master supposed to pay wages when he’s got overhead like that?
And remember, Bill imagines they also have to buy leather garb to match their favorite whips.
And when leather isn’t working, do you know the cost of a full latex body glove?
A trapeze?
Please, those slaves didn’t know how good they had it. (If only they had some loofah they would have quit bitching, but we won’t mention that right now)."

A lot of people have said Putin is trying to get Trump elected so he can blackmail the American president. Somebody told me Trump would completely go out of business if Putin took back all the Russian money he let Trump have. I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but I just heard Trump’s airplane would be grounded immediately.

Manafort helping the oligarchs? Flynn having dinner with Putin? Page getting money from Gazprom? No coincidence! Now it’s coming out that Putin wants to destabilize America. There’s something fishy about the whole thing.

And why did Trump propose changing NATO and Ukraine policy in ways that would benefit Putin? Obviously some people think it’s evil intentions. I think it’s incompetence. Regardless, a lot of people think it’s evil intentions.

I don’t bring up the possibility that Trump has already been bribed or blackmailed by Putin because I don’t know enough to really discuss it. I will say there are people who continue to bring it up because they think it was absolutely bribery and blackmail. I don’t do that because I don’t think it’s fair.

I’m hearing it’s a big topic, the question of whether Trump is guilty of treason. I’m not sure. I mean, let people make their own determination. Trump never denied that Putin was his patron.

He cannot give us his tax returns. He didn’t pay his taxes, or, if he did, there’s something in those returns that is very bad for him. Now, somebody told me — and I have no idea whether this is bad for him or not, but perhaps it would be — that he owes billions to Putin. Somebody said, ‘Maybe that’s the reason he doesn’t want to show his returns.’ I don’t think so. I just don’t think he paid his taxes.

Why is Trump so emphatic about not talking about his Putin connections? He gets it better than anybody understands. There’s something going on. There’s something we don’t know about. I don’t know. All I know is what’s on the Internet. Wow!

LOL that's Pepe the frog. One of the longest memes running. I think it actually started on myspace? Basically a funny cartoon character that you'll see pop up on different forums etc. Kind of like an inside joke. Probably not very funny if you've never seen him before though.

the democratic convention has alienated citizens monday and men yesterday. At this rate she will have slighted as many social bodies as Trump by the time this is over.

Annoying Libertarian
The Repubs alienated pro-abortion and lgbt, the Dems just dismissed any citizen concerned with unchecked immigration (which is NOT xenophobic) as well as anyone in the military/policing. When you have the mother of a criminal who was shot because he was attacking a police officer (read the Grand Jury report, or listen to it, its read aloud on youtube, almost all of it, I am NOT riling or picking a fight, I am speaking about the actual truth of the situation) you might as well slap every respectable police officer in the face. Maybe even enough to pull the union support.

@neverforget711 Was your response because police officers weren't talked about? With everything police officers go through too at the demos convention?

I agree there needs to be a balance.
I liked the convention.
I agree with more of the democratic platform, they fit more of my morals and my ideals about life.
I was moved by the black mothers talking about their children that are dead.

I'm not ready for abortions to be illegal. I'm too old to get pregnant but I want my daughter and grand daughters to be able to have that option.

I'm going to lose sleep at night until Nov, worried about a Trump presidency. I'm worried about a lot of his policies, of what we know of his policies. He's too vague on medical and a lot of other things. He's says stupid stuff.

You have two people to choose from for president. You have horrific and you have bad. I'm choosing bad.

Edit
Crazy for Trump to even suggest that Russia maybe could find Hillary's emails by hacking. He's very crozy with Russia. Trump is a national security issue all by himself. It's chilling. Manaford's blood pressure must be going sky high right now.

Essentially, as I see it, if my personal identity issues are not front and center and above all else in the world and words of others, then they are obviously unsuited to my needs.

Right-wing wrong-minded thought says Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the USA, Hillary Clinton*,
dissed men by not saying one of you young men listening tonight can become President.
Because, obviously that has never happened before!

Republican convention features a grieving mother to blame Clinton. The Democratic convention features grieving mothers to say, no blame we can do better. Their true grievances are proved daily to all who are not committed (like Bill O'Reilly) to denying the obvious.

My personal identity issues are humanity, honesty and consistency; the opposite of Republican head-spinning hypocrisy.
Now today's trump-dump and question, why do people who have been told for decades that Clinton lies, willingly ignore the near daily proof of Putin's pal's perfidy?

“I have nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do, I never met Putin, I have nothing to do with Russia whatsoever" Trump lied to CBSMIami.

Or did he lie previously when in "debate last year, Trump explicitly said that he’d met Putin while the two of them were set to appear on 60 Minutes.
“I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes, we were stablemates”

Or was this the lie? "The Republican nominee’s son, Donald Jr, told a 2008 real estate conference, “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.” According to the website of eTurboNews, a trade publication, he added: “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”
Click link for explanation of Russian oligarchs with ties to Trump.

* I know; lots of words that can be shortened in non-polite-conversation, to such as 'the murderer', because of course vast amounts of money and time have been spent investigating the Clinton-Foster connection and the wrong-minded can prove their conspiracy theories through the well-accepted Biblical logic of using the conclusion as a major or minor premise of the proof.

And probably not that funny if you have seen pepe before. Remember kids, one mans funny is another mans lame...

:)Hey I was nice enough to come back and explain it. Just bringing a little levity. All of which is probably lost on a dreary and peevish Brit.

This one is for the ladies, but you laddies can listen in.
"Donald Trump told NBC News correspondent Katy Tur to “be quiet” during a press conference on Wednesday and impugned her integrity as a journalist by publicly accusing her of trying to save Hillary Clinton by asking him questions.
Offering a stark contrast to the Democratic convention celebrating nominating a woman to be the official candidate for president, Trump once again showed his contempt and disdain for women journalists who don’t fawn over him."

This is for all who are not Russian spies.
"Donald Trump is about to get national security briefings, and he just invited the Russian government to hack the US government in an attempt to find Hillary Clinton’s emails.
Instead of proving that there was no relationship between his campaign and the Russian government, Trump confirmed it. Not only is there a relationship between Trump and Putin, but the Republican nominee is asking for favors on live national television."

The above stories are new today from my reading since previously posting. Apparently Trump proved himself at a press conference today and that is not a compliment.

Oops, more even newer.
CNN panelist Christine Quinn was incredulous.
“The man who thinks he’s going to be the president of the United States stood in front of the world and called on Russia and Putin to hack the emails of the former Secretary of State,” she exclaimed. “I mean, it’s honestly, and I know I’m partisan in this clearly, but it’s almost treasonous!”
