Tetra P80

Hell yeah! So stoked you finally got one man, can't wait to see it and hear what you think!
Thanks. It was #75. I’ve yet to post a pic on FC in all the years I’ve been on here. Maybe one day. I’ll definitely opine with initial impressions. Congrats to everyone who got one this drop. Yeah, I’ve been following this thread about a year, decided the P80 would be my next top portable vape (and perhaps a kissing cousin to my Tinymight, which I’ve loved non-stop for 18 months; I bought a smaller portable conduction vape on 420 to whet my appetite while waiting for a P80 too but it’s no match to my convection vapes - I have a couple). I’m stoked to try the P80 though and can’t wait! The reviews herein as well as the community - and Ralph on here too - have been great. And his customer service has been great too. It’ll be here soon, whenever that is - I chose the cheapest shipping option and I’ll see & use it whenever it gets here :) :peace:

Still absolutely loving the p80, I use as my out and about device, solely in warm up to cruise with and mainly with a capsule stem (recently I've been using a flattened basket screen as the lid for the storz and bickel dosing caps, seems to give more even heating), this thread is a goldmine of info, thanks shitsnacks for the molicell recommendation, definitely a marked improvements over the vt6as I've been using. Basically I just want to see if I'm getting the most out of the device, what settings/drawing techniques/stems/ packing methods are you guys using may I ask? I'm generally trying to avoid having to stir and get the biggest hits I can handle, I would session larger loads with it more but hate having to stir when out and about.

Have you tried packing in the elbow with a screen? This makes stirring a breeze.

@Notacaveman hey bro, if you’re looking for max clouds check into a rig or j hook. I use a vigreux cooling stem from 508 phineas on IG. Works well but I find with the P80 the hot air it pumps out is very drying on the throat when using a standard type of stem; to counter act that I’ll throw the p80 upside down onto a rig (with or without water) or j-hook with cooling dimples which then allows me to get much bigger/cooler hits. On temps I generally find 400 to be a good happy medium btwn clouds and some flavor, and I pack the basket screens full with med/fine grind light tamp and never stir.

I ended getting second chanced! Someone didn't buy their P80 and Ralph said I was next in line, I guess I was the earliest cancelled order. Anyway I got Lamart's very nice Acrylic#90 from last drop. Got it with Tank and already had a Virgreaux and some XL8Rs.

I'm loving the Tubo, but here's my question. I wasn't trying to change anything in the OS Setting. When I got the TetraP80 it defaulted to 375º, and went up or down in 10º increments. I was fumbling around in the dark one night and somehow my P80 is now defaulting to 380º and 10º increments from there.(370, 380,390 instead of 365, 375, 385) Does anyone know what I changed? I would love to get my 375º back without reloading the OS.

My custom is now in the US according to the tracking info. Psyched and can’t wait to see it in person and post some pics.

Congrats, I know you're excited, but:

That's awesome dude, and yes I specifically set mine to be 375 385 395 etc as well, it's tricky, it gets reset if you put your temperature too high or too low so that it recycles and gets you reset back at 370 380 390 etc. You need to first go into the settings and change back to be by 5°, get it to what you want and then switch it over to Celsius, then in Celsius you switch it back to the larger degree increments, and then you can switch it back to Fahrenheit... I think this is how I did it, you can play around with these settings and figure it out the way I did, if my instructions were not completely accurate as it's been a while since I have had to do it myself, I am more careful now so mine has not gotten reset in a long time and I have been using my temp settings this way (I like moving by ten degrees, but being on the 5 in the middle of a temp, 385 vs 380, now)

That's exactly right! Thanksd for that extremely arcane, but also very useful information for me. Apparently it also resets to 370, 380, 390 if you try to change the temp while in Cruise mode.

Anyway I'm loving my P80 still, just knocked out another bowl. Thought I'd share some pics. My order got doubled up and I got cancelled out on Acrylic 90, but two days later Ralph offered my a second chance for Acrylic 81. I would have never picked it, but I ended up liking it a lot

That is so beautiful!

Oh yeah you actually can raise the temp and lower it in cruise without issue, the issue is when you are using a warm-up to cruise or tstep cruise, because it goes to the temperature that is set in the menu... I mostly don't use those I just use regular cruise and never have an issue btw

By the way I’ve yet to see a tetra I don’t like. Yours is awesome thought. Pair it with a bright purple stem if you can find one. Would look amazing.

Hey guys,

I received my prebuilt Tetra P80 from the late August drop last week. It seems like a superb device I'm enjoying it greatly.
There are some questions though:

>Menu->Vaping->Algo

What is it doing? Has some numbers and an option going Boost/Sweet/PID. I'm guessing you can customize the ALGOrithm for heating? Would like to learn some more.

>Menu->Vaping->Misc

It has some interesting settings, but they are only Y/N and not amazingly descriptive. Like what is Smart doing, e.g.? Is this documented somewhere?

>Menu->Coils

I put my individual resistance under the TUBO setting, but what are the other values doing, like TI is set to 185?

>Tips for power saving?

Right now I can enjoy 2 loads (170 - 220 deg C) with 1 battery. Would be great if I can push this even further to maybe 3 loads. I played with Eco mode and lowering wattage, anything else?

>Batter display

I'm having problems where the battery charge indicator will not change. Like I'm starting a session at full charge, and it will not update the battery level indicator until I restart the device. Anything I can do?

>Cap on or off?

So far I have only used the vaporizer with the basket cap on. I'm doing that to contain the plant material in the mouth piece, because I'm not sure how to clean the glass chamber yet. Any tips? Iso and Q Tips is enough? I'm a bit worried I might put a lil bit too much iso and the liquid will drip into some electronic parts and break the device.

>And finally, any favorite accessories?

Right now, I only have the Tank mouthpiece. I have on the way chinese copy of the RBT XL8R mouthpiece. Is china glass ok, or any concerns? The original was sadly not available in my country, and it looked cool in some vids.

Cheers :)

Anyone else tried the bb9 stem from dynavap on the tetra p80 ? This is amazing imho! I like it much more than all other glas stems that Ive for the p80.

Usually I only take tetra p80 for desktop home unit with the WPA. Its an extraction monster!

But this bb9 stem is an amazing stem for flavour and taste! I love this stem now for my p80 !

Its just not getting that hot so fast!

read here the manuals, and usually people don't change the PID values, the manufacturer applies everything for you before shipping:

I can recommend get a Molicel P26A battery.. and if you need battery life maybe use less the warmup mode.. take the first draw with low temp, slow speed draw... the warmup takes battery life. i think from 1 new Molicel P26A you will get 3-4 bowls, maybe more..

people seem to prefer the Tank over the Nub, I will tell my notes on the Tank soon ;)

lower the brightness of the screen too.. it may help
good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have the Molicel that the Tetra came with, and I also bought a pair of Sony VTC6 as they should hold a slightly larger charge (2600 mAh vs. 3000 mAh). They are performing both relatively samey as far as I can see.

I have no comparison with other mouth pieces yet, but in my opinion the tank gets quite hot. On the first day, drawing actually hurt a little because of the heat. I'm doing slow controlled draws. Now it got bearable but still uncomfortable at high temps.

If anyone else still wants to chime in with their opinion and tips to my questions above, I'd be delighted ;)

All who wander are not lost...
Newbie question while I wait for my P80 to arrive in a week or two (don’t throw tomatos, please): do I need to perform any software updates initially or will the heater (Tubo? Or whatever the correct term is) work out if the box with a charged battery, and all I have to do is (turn in on, lol) and set the mode or temp? Needless to say I have a touch of agita and anxiety with a new vape/device and I’m ok with a short learning curve (I’m fairly intelligent) yet all this talk above about several different settings is ratcheting up my minor neuroses a bit once I get this wonderful vape in my hands. Cheers. :peace:

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what

That’s what that means? Lol. New Matrix movie coming out soon too. I need to watch the 3rd one as I’ve never seen it (saw the first two. Not a huge Keanu fan). The P80 will be new, exciting and perhaps a bit daunting but I’m looking forward to it. I think I’ll try the tank mouthpiece first over the nub; I ordered both. Very excited whenever it it gets here (MA). Soon! Then off into the Matrix I go… :peace:
