Tafée Bowle

New user here...I stuck my finger in my brand new Bowle and broke a sensor—a costly lesson from not reading and following the user guide. Thankfully Tafée was able to service the device.

I like how they emphasize repairing over simply sending a replacement.
It's good to know that Bowle is built to be serviced and not destined for landfills.

In my device received from their servicing department there was a sticker saying "activating the device without inhaling will damage it and void my warranty".
I also received an email detailing a few tips for longevity without problems.

"NEVER ACTIVATE HEATER WITHOUT ACTIVE AIR CIRCULATION.

- It is most important that you avoid activating the device without inhaling as doing so will damage your device and void your warranty"
.

They go on to say they will always service devices no matter the malfunction but it is always nice to try to prevent requiring servicing.

@Vaptic_Feedback This may be relevant to your question about burn-off.

"NO BURN OFF ADVISED

- You never need to perform any burn-off operation upon receipt of your device. Bowle undergoes a complete performance test after assembly.
Attempting or performing a burn-off by activating your device without active airflow circulation will damage your device and void your warranty.

If you inadvertently activate the heater at any point (for example, by pressing only the Large Fire Button by mistake without intention to inhale, once the oven activates, or if the Green LED's or oven remain on longer than 3 seconds without airflow), you must quickly click the "Large Fire Button" ONCE to immediately shut down the heating cycle"
.

@TigoleBitties This may be relevant to your style of use..
@BabyFacedFinster This may be relevant to know too.

NEVER OPERATE WITH PUFF STYLE USE:

Bowle needs a constant steady airflow to maintain its performance. While the device can adapt to airflow variance in use, deliberately "puffing" or "cigar-puffing" your device serves no purpose in aiding any performance gain to the purely convective heating system. Doing Cigar style puffs places unnecessary dynamic strain on components which will lead to damage or failure".

CHARGING
.
This one was noteworthy as I originally thought my device was malfunctioning during charge.

It turns out that if you lock your device ( 3 quick clicks of the large "fire" button) before charging it, the LED indicator will dispaly the current charging level and then it will shut off after a minute or two while it is still connected to charge.

If you want your Bowle to always indicate its charge level, you must connect it to charge while it is unlocked.
Their reason is that this reduces light pollution for those charging the device in a dark room... I completely know this as I hate those lights on electronics flashing while I try to sleep.

Oh...they also advise..... guidelines to maintain healthy long-term battery cells advise against completely depleting your battery, especially early on in the life of the device.

"High-discharge cells, like the ones in electric vehicles and similar to those in your device, suffer degradation following repeated full discharges".

They recommend charging the Bowle Series II when you see the battery level between 1-2 bars, indicating 20%-40% battery capacity remaining. You can charge the Bowle Series II to full, as they have built-in protections to prevent overcharging the device.
Like any battery operated device they advise against charging the device unattended for an extended period i.e overnight.

To check the battery life on the Bowle Series II, simply "click and release" both buttons together quickly before the start of a session.

If you will not use your device for an extended period or before whenever travelling, please lock it by quickly clicking both the "LARGE and SMALL" buttons simultaneously 5 times. You can confirm the device is in "Locked Out - Shipping Mode" if you cannot power on the device with 3 fast clicks of the large/fire button).

The Bowle can then only be awakened by connecting it to a charging source when in locked out-shipping mode.
This will also prevent accidental activation if paced inside a travel luggage.

For a simple device to operate, there seems to be some knowledge needed to maintain.
But understandably, after dropping dollars on any product it makes sense to try to keep it operating optimally by reviewing operating tips recommended.
Thanks for the extra info. However, it is worrisome to think that this device is that fragile. I've never used another vape which such warnings of damage from not constantly inhaling. Even for very brief periods of time, like in between cigar puffs.

I have to agree. That's a bummer to hear. It's kind of myopic to say that cigar puffs "serve no purpose in aiding any performance gain to the purely convective heating system". You cigar puff because it's pleasurable for you, the user. It preserves your throat by keeping the draws short and allows you to smell the vapor and better taste it. The machine should accommodate the user, not vice versa.

I wouldn't worry... electronic device manufacturer over caution to cover all bases is par for the course. If Bowle were that fragile this thread would be filled with complaints. I didn't know to follow most of the directions and it took me physically damaging my device by mistake to receive these tips from them.

@TigoleBitties you are right. Your style can give a user increased taste profiles and I think they make allowance for that which is why you can puff without the device immediately shutting down.

My guess is the statement "serves no purpose" relates to heating performance for those who think they are warming up the device by cigar puffing. By all accounts this is the fastest on demand device and is 100% pure convection, so it depends purely on airflow to extract. I think short puffs by flavor chasers should be okay so long as you don't confuse the breath sensing which is what I'm guessing they want to avoid.

A conduction based session style device does not have to worry about dynamically adjusting the temperature target in milli-seconds to maintain consistent performance. Bowle is ridiculously fast that I can see how constant uneven up and down airflow without user discipline can place a high strain on the device. How much? Time will tell.

Has anyone reached the cutoff timer yet? They say it's 23 seconds..i can't inhale for that long. I've tried... 14 seconds at power level 3 is my maximum lung capacity.

Yeah, that makes me a little uneasy. I really hope the device isn't so fragile that occasional cigar puffing with very little pause in between will damage its components.

I've reached the cutoff timer a handful of times however this has only ever happened while doing repeated cigar puffs, which now I see the manual clearly states never to do. Sigh.

Maybe we could get some guidance from Tafee? I don't think there's a representative on this site so I think I'll fire off an email to get some clarity.

Edit: I just revisited the full online manual at https://tafee.com/assets/download/tafee-full-operating-manual-en.pdf and I don't find any cigar puff warnings in there. Can you advise where you got the warning text from?

It’s my usual way to go. Slow long inhale starting at lvl 2 until cutoff, repeat, then switch to lvl 3 and do two more cycles. After that, the bowl is pretty much done without any unpleasant taste.

Chasing that smooth vapor
OK, so my Bowle 2 arrived on Friday evening, allowing me a full weekend of use before I report back here with my experience.

First off, this thing is sick. The design is amazing, I have larger hands, it just fits perfect when I am using it. I can hold it and press the power button easily. I am using the single click to start, inhaling, then single click to stop right before I finish my inhale to clear the stem method. Works great.

Flavor is amazing. Brought it over to a buddies house on Saturday, there was one other guy there. They were ripping bong hits when I showed up. Pulled out the Bowle and we packed 9 pots with 9 different strains. After 3 pots each, we were flying pretty high. The battery kept up the entire time. No issues there. The device does get a bit warm with back-to-back-to-back pots, but we were hanging out and let it cool down a bit every other pot or so.

My buddies were raving about the taste of the hit. These are bong and bowl guys, they aren't used to tasting their weed. The differences between the different strains was super pronounced. Both of them are researching the Bowle now, looking to add it to their collections. No, I didn't bring the drinkware with me. It still seems a bit gimmicky, to be honest, but I may try it on my own one night.

How in the world does this thing heat up so fast? When you click the button, it is literally ready by the time the stem reaches your mouth. I have been using a TM2 for months now and thought that was fast. This is insane. Also, 9 pots in a row with no drop off in performance? My TM2 can't handle more than 3 bowls without the strength of the hits dropping off. This is the perfect portable device in my opinion. It is not pocketable by any means, but to me, it is the best way to vape on the go that I have found.

The hits from the Bowle don't seem to hit as hard as the TM2, but they are smoother and the effects are similar. Both being pure convection, this makes sense. I don't miss the punch you in the face feel of the TM2 that much. I almost prefer the smoother experience, knowing I will get to the same place. When I want to get punched in the face, I will use my bong and a ball vape. This thing is perfect to step outside for 5 minutes, get high, then back inside to cook dinner, do chores, whatever. The ball vape setup will be for when I want to be useless and ride out the high.

Full disclosure, I was one of those guys that dismissed this device for a long time. The drinkware made it seem like a gimmick and my TM2 checked all of the boxes for me. It wasn't until people here started raving about it that I realized that I was dismissing this device too quickly. All of you can't be wrong, so I pulled the trigger. I am glad I did, because I have now found my new favorite vape. Count me in on Team Bowle.

Congrats to Bruno for making such an amazing device. Now I think I will try this drinkware out tonight to see if it adds to the experience. For what it is worth, I always have a beer, water, or something to drink when I vape. This might be a new thing for me.
