Your on the right track.
You would still use the subi as you do now but at a lower temperature as you do not need it to heat the atomizer as the atomizer would be self heated.

Why not eliminate the subi completely, I'm sure the atomizer can be configured so only a small amount of air is allowed in, and heated while traveling down before it touches the herb, you still need the sub if you want to dab, but if you have a coil why not a domeless nail?

I would like to see the subi kept if only to maintain the incoming air temps up where you want them for optimal vaporisation.
I like the idea of narrowed air entry port but that would lead to loading issues.
For the dabblers, you could do away with the dabmaster. As the atomizer is heated it could be used in a similar fashion to the VB2.
You can't put herbs in a nail.

Doesn't the apollo create air turbulence? I've never seen one of these units before but that's how I understood it to work.

Sweet, that is some good info to start working out what will be best for you.

Ok, first of all as an ex bong smoker, especially if you were into one-hitters, the sub is ideal to give you those big satisfying bong rips without the hazards of combustion. Still, there are a few considerations here.

A few things you might want to know:

- I have a ti dabmaster xlr 2.0. If you vape a lot of flowers through it and then switch over to oils without cleaning the atomizer in-between, your dabs are gonna mostly taste like the flowers you vaped. Especially if you are using the same piece for oils and flowers. This is not an issue unless you want to either taste and/or reclaim your dabs in their original state or as close to as possible.

- For the oils side of things - if you dab at a heat around 7.5-8.5 (double decker type temps), then you are gonna end up with gunk inside the vapor path of the heater. This gunk will get more and more cooked into the heater to the point that every dab you take until you clean the heater will taste like generic decarbed oil.

These are not limitations of the product. Indeed, it is one of the Stoner's Noble Truths that if you vape flowers and oil through the same piece without cleaning in-between, your dabs will taste like the aftertaste of your flowers you hit before in the same piece and your reclaim will become runny oil instead of shatter/wax.

However, you can certainly use the sub with 2 heaters/attys, this would be the ideal to mitigate most of these concerns (if they are concerns to you). In this case, I would suggest an Apollo for flowers and the Ti nail for oils.

However, with a dabmaster and 2 atomizers, you could leave one atomizer on your oil rig and one on your flowers piece and switch between them. Do double deckers on the flower rig though, not the oil rig! You don't wanna taint that oil reclaim with flowers, it becomes runny goo quickly! If you do this, please avoid dabbing at temps below 9, to ensure that your oil is vapor before making it's way through the air path. You would obviously need two decent sized rigs for this or the above 2 heater configuration.

If you, like me occasionally do oils when the sub wasn't hot enough due to impatience, ensure that you thoroughly clean the heater after every 2 days of very heavy use (or whenever visible gunk gets in there) to ensure that you don't end up tasting old gunked overcooked oil stuck in the heater when you dab ;)

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNSCREW THE HEATER COVER FROM THE ELEMENT UNTIL ALL METAL IS COOL TO THE TOUCH! YOU WILL GET BURNED OTHERWISE!

The sub is the best vape I've ever used for flowers, I have owned/used many vapes before (e-nano, solo, pnp, cloud og, cloud plus, volcano/digit and more) and this is the quickest vape for me to load a bowl spend all the good stuff in it in a single hit.

For oils, it is the single best flower vape to hit oils on. However, the dabmaster alone, when also used for flowers is no substitute for a dedicated enail for oils in terms of flavor.

In terms of clouds and high, a dabmaster used for both flowers and oils would likely match or exceed other enails (even when not cleaned in-between!).

At the moment I am thinking I wouldn't mind my sublimate reclaim all tasting like 1 amalgamation of all the things vaped into it.

How is the weight of the unit and diameter of the tip to the atomizer? I'm wondering how easily ill be able to use it on some of my existing glass namely a 18mm male reclaimer (with a male to female adapter on top) Concerned about the wight and stress on joints, perhaps a stand to reduce weight will be in order.

Put in my order at Planet vape for the Adapt a sub kit, after reading this thread upgraded it to the titanium version. Unfortunately both versions are back ordered at PV and they have no idea or time line when they plan to receive more units from the sublimator factory.

It's been two weeks now and dont even know how long i have to wait, although PV did offer a refund option.

My ebay fake exhale cloud died recently, till i had it i was in vapor heaven, like totally satisfied and thought my vaporizer search was over. I wanted to get the Evo but they are yet to release 220V version. So i thought ill go for the sublimator.

Presently using my DBV with a whip hooked up to the bong. Getting wispy hits and my consumption has doubled but not satisfied with the high.

Sublimator.ca does not show a shipping option to India. So i went ahead with PV.

This is the reply i got from PV " Sublimators have still not arrived, we update everyone when we get a ship date from the manufacturer who is also sold out and back ordered. They have not provided any dates since the initial estimated date of last week which has already passed "

Hoping my patience pays off and PV will give me a date soon as soon they hear from the Sub factory.

PV did have the adapt a dabmaster available version available earlier. My usage would be 98% percent just herb not concentrates. Not sure if i should wait or get the dabmaster version if they still have it readily available.

Get the dabmaster! It is great for flowers, just wont retain heat quite as well and being a smaller piece of ti m but it is delicious nonetheless! I use my dabmaster only for flowers (and non full-melt dry sift/kief/hash) whilst my almost arrived dnail will be on another rig dedicated to shatter/wax/full melts of all kinds! Clouds everywhere!

So I was out with friends yesterday and had to resort to combusting because I don't have a portable flower vape nor have I found one worth my while for my purposes.

The sub is the ultimate combustion-killer. It hits so hard that you'd feel like you were wasting time and bud combusting a bowl after this. It hits harder than combusting a bowl, it tastes delicious (moreso if you keep it clean ;) ) and it is just as quick to use as combusting once you get used to it.

The sub has truly spoiled me for other vapes. Most other vapes seems like too much of a time commitment now lol. My sub is pretty much always on (still haven't bothered with workaround for timer, just tap the button twice to reset timer, I actually don't mind it except for now and then when I forget and it times out on me!) and ready to deliver fast, hard hits in rapid succession to my head's content.

What I need now is a portable that can do the same to a lesser extent! Still, between the sub and my incoming dnail - I think the home lineup is well and truly finalized!

@MBB: Getting jealous looking at all that vaporizer porn.

@herbivore21: Will there ever exist a portable which can be compared to the cloud or Sub. I highly doubt it maybe someone can design a real high end one with halogen technology like the herbalizer in a portable unit. Don't know the kind of battery output it would required even if its possible.

Looking at your advice im planning to just get the adapt a dabmaster version if they have it in stock ready to ship.

cheers

I haven't found a portable that could be compared to the Sub, nothing hits hard enough, quickly enough and evenly enough.

The S & B Mighty seems to deliver the most clouds/flavour/battery etc that can be found in a portable right now, or the MiniVap. I have heard mixed reports on whether the mighty gets a plastic taste (I am not interested in plastic myself) but I saw someone made their own gong for the might which looked great - this makes things much more interesting!

In short, look at the mighty or the minivap for the best flower vapes have to offer so far. The Arizer Air was interesting but more draw resistance than the Solo is a deal breaker IMO.

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew if the dabmaster was any worse for flowers than the apollo?
It's only about $30 extra for the dabmaster and i'm wondering if there's any reason that it's not worth the extra $30.

MGG,
I've got the dabmaster and it's been great for me using flower! The real trick is getting the atomizer to an equilibrium with the dabmaster to get the best results. I usually use setting 4.5 to 6.5 for flower to get that perfect vapor. ;)

So after using the Herbalizer for about 3 months and eventually couldn't get properly medicated because I'd find myself using the whip for a single 15+ minute session and I got tired of how long those took. I found myself missing those hard hitting bong rips and couldn't get that with Herbalizer even when I hooked it up to my water piece.

I just got this dabmaster last week and have been loving it so far. The milk just knocks my lungs to the floor so I keep chasing that feeling and end up going through my material faster. haha

Zanin,
So I've had the sub for 2 months now and I just wanted to talk about cleaning the dabmaster and atomizer pieces. I will usually use the moon tool to scrape as much off the inside walls as I can. Depending on how long it been since I cleaned it last I will boil them for 5-10 min after using a magic clean eraser, Q-tips, and soup and it looks brand new. My process can take anywhere from 30-60 min. I just wanted to see what others use to clean there stuff and how long.

Does anyone know the exact type of Xlr cable the sub uses to connect the monkey controller to the heater?

I can't handle the crazy short cord there, but I'd rather just get an extention cord off the shelf before I go and manually extend it.

I asked a friend who does music production, but he wasn't familiar with this type of xlr.
All his music gear has 3 pins...

Aside from that little ditty, I'm loving the sub so far.

Unfortunately that crazy short cord led to my rig tumbling off the table (twice! I'm amazed no glass broke - I had the sub connected to a sub-buddy, connected to my fc-187... I thought for sure something was gonna smash...)

I'm Not entirely sold on the protective cage just yet...
The top half of it still gets too hot to touch, but the bottom half does seem to stay cool enough...
Having said that, I've already managed to burn a couple of fingers while using it without the cage, so I might put it back on...

I started off at 8 while using it with some flowers & some keif that had collected at the bottom of my bud container.

I've decided that is a little bit too hot for flowers, but pretty perfect for keif.

I bumped it up to 10 for a dab - and it was damn smooth :D

I've for a mate who is kinda so-so about vaping (he can appreciate why I love them so much, but he's just more into smoking:(), so I loaded up a bow and let him have a rip.

I told him basically "rip however hard you want, for as long as you want, and I'll yank the stopper on the cloud buddy if you finish it in one hit."

He had a nice big hit, roasted the load in one go, and exhaled a crazy dragon cloud at the end of it that was so thick it just sorta lingered in the air for a minute or so.
His verdict: "Jesus H. Christ" :D

And a quick vid :brow:

The 3-pin cables are used for microphones and are designed to carry 48 volts. If it's 4 pins, that's known as a balanced audio cable and are mainly designed for audio not power. I would just get the 4-pin m/f connector ends and solder them to the ends of an extension cord. You would need a meter to figure out the wiring pattern first though. I suspect that they are using 4 pins doubled up with two wires on each, unless they are using a grounding wire in which case I don't know why they just didn't go with 3-pin connectors.

Unfortunately it's 2 pins...

All I could find from a quick google/Wikipedia was that there was a 2 pin xlr design used by a Yamaha keyboard for power but that's supposed to be obsolete now...

That's too bad. If it was mine I'd be tempted to re-terminate the whole system to 3-pin,
so I can do whatever I want with it. But that's just me:science:
