tl;dr version

1) Tried Brick again
2) Despite torch not performing properly; got pretty good vapour and whitewalled it with the Blazer Big Shot on lowest heat setting and also held far away from the intake glass
3) Verdict: Daddy like!

Just tried it again and this time had it hooked up to a water piece through a whip connecting from the Brick to a very short 18mm joint/stem that recently came my way.

I think that I will have to grab a nice triple or quad flame cigar torch though since my Eagle torch at max heat setting only has an inner blue flame of 10mm......which is less half the recommended inch on the instructions.

So basically I have to stick the flame almost right into the intake.....with the nozzle right at the top of the glass.

But no big deal......I think a couple of different torches of different power might be nice to have around.....actually - let me check something.

Yup, my little aluminum Ronson single jet - jet lighter on its max setting produces an inner blue jet flame that is a few mm longer than the Eagle....so something is up. When I get something higher performing I think I will throw the Eagle in the car for emergency backup usage.

But even with a sub-optimal flame - the results are completely different from yesterday.

Pretty decent vapour production! Even with the nozzle tucked right up to the intake and the flame completely inside the intake glass.

But then I tried it with my Blazer Big Shot.

The minimum flame length on that is actually quite long, and I had to hold it fairly far away with the flame licking downward in a semi-jet, jet output - still blue but not as stable in the vacuum I created while drawing ....and also flickering around a bit.

But the higher levels at a hissing, wind-stable blue jet output would have been far too hot to use.....and I was already holding it pretty far away from the intake.

But Whoo, Hooo!

Now we're cooking with gas!

I thought that I had combusted for sure, with that wall of milk flowing through the mouthpiece, through the whip and then quickly filling up the glass.

No combustion, but the taste was a little on the toasty/smokey side and there were also a few very small charred pieces of herb scattered around in the bowl.....but no actual sign of any full scale combustion or a clumping of the charred pieces into a full scale ash formation.

Phew!

This one is a keeper for sure!!!
Regardless of my current incompatibility with the mouthpiece for direct draw.

It sure can really pump the vapour out as a white wall when used at high temp; or can also produce a more gradual filling of the chamber at the levels of heat that the Eagle torch can produce.....at least my currently hobbled one.

Maybe I will bleed it and refill it to see if that resets things so that performs like it should?
Has anyone else out there had to deal with malfunctioning Eagles with tips or advice they can share as to how they restored its performance?
I had the exact same issue with my Eagle. It has a very weak flame even on low. I've purged and properly refilled with high quality butane (Lucienne) and it didn't help. When full the flame is a little stronger but that doesn't last long.

I'm not a fan of using a triple torch with the Brick, the flame is too wide and it puts out a lot of heat that rises up making my hand hot.

I highly recommend this torch for the brick: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005TOOI5A/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You get one torch of a random color, and it took mine 18 days to arrive from China. I ordered a couple backups. Even the best torch brands still have the occasional dud.

The Xing has a wide temperature range perfect for the Brick. It also lights on the first try 99% of the time.

A strong flame really makes the Brick shine. Even my low temp hits were improved with a stronger flame!

Morning all, my new brick just came in yesterday and so far its hitting greeeat!:D Ive been getting really good flavor and clouds from the first pack I put in, even better than I expected! Ive had no issues with the mouthpiece but I do have a question regarding the physical body, does everyone's brick have the brick logo on it? Cause when I was looking at pics online they all have it but the one I got yesterday doesnt have any markings on it. I got it from PuffitUp if that helps at all.

@GTAVaper you can also try a 3/4 inch screen that will bring your load closer to the intake...which makes it vape faster, but also makes the chances for combustion higher...that is the only screen placement I use tbh.

With the load in the bottom it just seems to take too long (for me)
I agree, the higher screen allows for quicker vapor production, but makes it much easier to combust. With a stronger torch I can make vapor almost instantly with the lower screen placement.

I got mine from @PuffItUp a while back. It has no logo. I actually like the clean look without the logo. The logo is a new addition in the past few weeks, they must not have the new stock in yet. Mine does have the small logo without text on the bottom which is perfect for me.

Okay thanks for verifying that, I like the plain look too but kinda wish I had a logo just cause I like the look of it. Mine doesn't have the bottom logo or anything:shrug:

Yesterday, being my first day playing with the brick, I almost combusted once with my bernzomatic torch but nothing actually happened just had some pretty dark abv in the middle. I wouldn't want to put my screen any higher as I know I would prob combust waaay to easily. Do you guys usually hold the torch in the glass tube for more than a few seconds at a time when heating? I was getting scared after almost combusting that I now hold the torch in it till it starts milking then pull it away and keep repeating quickly.

The first order (back in June) went out with a different brand that wound up not working. Half that order to puffitup had the bricks on the bottom before we gave up on that particular brand. They now have a second order that has the new brand on the side, but probably aren't shipping those quite yet. @PenleySS420 if you want the brand and want to send it to me, I'll pay shipping back and brand it for you.

Incidentally, I ordered a drill press mounted brand from Gearheart Industries and they are a pleasure to work with. The new brand is an excellent piece of workmanship and would recommend their company any day.

I got a walnut with no branding and I'm pretty happy. I actually prefer it without any branding.

So you don't have the logo on the underside? I like mine a lot, it's like a hidden tattoo.

A brick and a log, what more can a man want?

Edit: It looks like @StickyBricks has answered that question already: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/sticky-brick-junior-vaporizer-by-stick-brick-labs.22355/

This has been the only thing I've used other then my enail and the CFX on vacation. Too convenient :)

I really like the bigger Ronson truthfully, I can destroy a bowl in a few hits if I do it right! But I tend to draw fast for fear of combusting so a medium fast draw with the Ronson on low tends to last me like 6-7 thick hits (not as thick as when slow draw though) and the avb is pretty dark

I guess it's glass week in here. That break is not acceptable and will be warrantied. I appreciate you blaming yourself, but the point of this thick glass is to not break on small falls. By just looking at that pic it seems the bend was a weak point.

Flared mouthpiece...I would love to hear more opinions on this.

This right here is what I call amazing customer service! @StickyBricks really wants his customers to be satisfied above all else!

Thank you so much I appreciate it! I may have to take you up on that offer in the near future but as for right now I'm gonna stick with mine cause I dont want to go any time with out it :D

And @Vapor_Eyes I have the exact same set up as you, is that the maple burl nano? I am thinking about selling my cousin my nano because of how much I like the brick but I cant decide.... decisions decisions :hmm:

That's a fiddleback maple. I don't use it as much now that I have the Brick but it is still my daily driver. I would never dream of selling it, maybe I will give it to my grandchildren one day along with my Sticky Brick. These are two vapes that could last forever, especially the Brick. I can picture some puzzled archaeologists excavating one in the future, fully intact and functional.

I have a feeling if you sell your nano to your cousin you will regret it. It's always best to have a backup vape. The Brick makes a great companion to a log, to me it feels like a butane powered log vape in regards to performance. I'm a sucker for on demand convection.

If you ever choose to send it in just let me know first with a private pm and I'll make sure I'll be branding the week you send it so I don't keep it longer then necessary.

I still have my nano and don't plan on ever getting rid of it. My dd has been the Junior for a few weeks, but the nano will always have a place in my house.

The Brick is a daily driver for me too. Honestly I try to use all of my vapes once a day. I have problems...

I find myself turning to the brick more often than not because it's just so damn fun to use. There's something about the process that's so visceral and tactile. I think it's due to the way you are heating directly off the flame instead of preheating. No other butane vapes other than the defunct Triihouse offer that ability.

And also the visual feedback is another standout feature that adds to the fun. I'm more of a dry guy so it's nice to get a touch of that bong/bubbler experience.

So this is how I am currently using my Brick

swtAvgw.jpg

......and this is what I was talking about when I said that I love how the magnet keeps the chamber in place and towards you for a quick stir when rotated with the mouthpiece side of the Brick laying flat.

IVptEm2.jpg

Yes I know that the mouthpiece is the wrong way around.....but when using it through water this orientation is more directly pointed upwards and in better line with where it connects to a water piece

Very nice, that's a cool feature you discovered! I love seeing the different ways people use their Bricks.

It's funny you say that about the mouthpiece being the wrong way around, that was actually the original default position for the Daisy.

@bonez subjectively speaking, five great rips, though @WakeAndVape can extract everything in two it seems.

Hey everyone,

Just letting everyone know in addition to @StickyBricks if they have any questions or need any assistance, I will be here to help as well. Just shoot me a PM.

My beta Sticky Brick unit is still working extremely well! No issues.

I tipped my unit and it fell forwards on my marble table glass mouthpeice first head on to the table and no damage! I've had scientific glass Mouthpeices break off from a tip like that.
We have strong glass, that's for sure!

Should've posted this here also and worth a repost:

@Slow Draw McGraw is now an official representitive of Sticky Brick Labs. Him and @WakeAndVape were my first testers and it's my pleasure to bring him on board. He is obviously invested in this community and it's truly an honor to have him as part of this company. He has gone above and beyond every step of the way to help not only me but anyone. I will still be on FC daily answering questions and pm's, but he will be another outlet to help everyone. A giant thank you and welcome to Slow Draw McGraw!

okay hey guys! so I had lent my brick to my good friend, and unfortunately while they were borrowing it, it got pretty dirty (screen clogged) and as a result the draw was pretty slow and I think they ended up combusting in it a lot. So now it reeks pretty bad of combustion so I know I need to clean it, and I want to be gentle but think it needs a pretty serious cleaning after so much combustion. Anyone have any tips on gentle cleaning methods could still get my brick back to a happy tasty point? Thanks

I just posted this over in the Sticky Brick Junior thread but it applies to the Brick too.

I recommend cleaning it with a q-tip and water. The wet qtip will fit thru the carb hole to clean that portion and then just use another in the bowl area. It's never good to submerge wood in water but a little on a qtip in the bowl is good for the wood, which will be excessively dry in that area. We are adamant about not putting finish anywhere in the path, but I do sand the inside of every hole with a dremel. The point of sanding inside the bowl is to make sure it's smooth so it's not catching material, but also to prevent flavor from penetrating through open/rough wood. ISO alcohol and wood do not mix as it leaches moisture content, but if worse comes to worse, you could use ISO instead of hot water on the qtip, but that should be the absolute last resort. The best bet for combustion incidents is to stop and dump it as quickly as possible. The stainless parts and glass can be cleaned in ISO without issue.

@pandaphysics

I would first try the hot water and run several packs through and I think you'll find you're good to go. Make your friend do it as penance- with your guidance, of course.

I combusted my first night because I was a moron who forgot carbs are a thing, I drew so hard instant smoke lol

It was counter-intuitive to turn the torch up for cooler hits but by also backing off the intake with the torch the total heat is diffused better, less hot spots.

I get irrationally irritated when combustion happens and was kicking myself but the residual was soon 100% gone, I wouldn't worry much
