Hi friends I was instructed to post here so here's my story!

Quick version:
i quit combusting and got a Mighty!
i disliked it. i grabbed a Dynavap from Craigslist. i loved it.
still it didn't fully satisfy. I ordered a Sticky Brick, Elev8r and may order a log (LOL yes..i know :)

----
Sticky Brick OG:
Arrived in good condition. I had watched Sticky tutorials, and read the short booklet it came with.
Despite that, i'm still a complete klutz because my first session led to the glass intake cracking.
However for this case i think it was defective! i was not touching the inside flame to the glass, and heated it no longer than 20-40 seconds at most.
i dont know which session cracked it exactly. i just noticed it later.

i emailed Sticky support twice and have not heard from them yet!
---
Now on to my first impressions of the Brick:

The Brick is lovely, amazing, one of a kind! I love the craftsmanship, i love the look, it fits with my earthy stoner girl / flower child vibe :)
friends already commented on the look and asked if i made it (i'm an artist) lol!
I was veryyyy lucky my first few hits. They were beyond perfect.

The flavor was beyond anything i've ever tasted so far. the amount of smoke i could take in,
compared to the Mighty and the Dyna, was much much more!
The mouthpiece does cool it well. I still find the vapor a little hot for me at times, but then someone pointed out I have had the carb plugged up.
I'll be taking that out! and playing with the carb to tune my technique :)

as far as technique I began with a single flame torch, dipping the outside flame, but not letting the inside flame get
inside the glass intake.
Slow draws until i see vapor :)
break apart, stir.
repeat.

i have combusted several times. just me pushing the color of my avb too hard, i think :)
i also use a quad torch sometimes and it seems to work well.

Cheers!

Take a look at this video ... it's whats set me straight with my Jr.

Strong flame .... strong draw increasing at the end .. let go of the carb hole and draw big cloud ... if you feel the draw temp increasing too rapidly, pull the torch back a little ...

If you were producing/"taking in" smoke with any of these vapes, then you fucked up! :dog:

(in the voice of Uncle Roger, from Youtube)
i did! multiple times :(

edit: i must admit i overestimated my confidence, i thought i would be past the learning curve by now :uhoh:

:uhoh:

UPDATE: oh lord above. i've been the biggest dope!
after not getting the best hits using a single torch, and resorting to quad, burning thru the flavor in 1 hit...
...i finally tried angling the single-flame torch straight into the intake.
What a DIFFERENCE!
this Sundae Driver tastes like i'm smoking mint. like mint leaves. how amazing.

Try to spin it while you're inhaling until you hear the whistle of the sweet spot
thank you! great tip.

i really don't know what to do about my cracked glass intake.
there's been no reply from Sticky Brick support.
i've sent them several emails and Instagram messages to 2 accounts!

i heard back from Sticky support, who are sending me a new intake :)
i didnt want to come off impatient but i also was discouraged by not getting any responses at first...anyway,
problem solved, all good :)

Oh yeah I forgot to mention how the whistle is a huge help in indicating your technique is good, old Daisy trick!

Haha you definitely came off as a little impatient, but I already know you now and you are not alone in wanting immediate replies from manufacturers here, I mean especially when it's something like this that breaks right away and seems clearly defective... But some companies are just a little slower to reply, but they always do and take care of you well! This is another reason why we encourage VAS, always need backups available to truly fuck combustion

Yeah. Remember that you have at least two controls on the temperature of the herb in the bowl/chamber. Both the torch distance to the intake, as well as the draw speed.

In other words, if you were holding the torch perfectly still, then the temp goes down when you increase the draw speed, and the temp goes up when you lower the draw speed.

Also, if you hold the draw speed exactly the same/constant, then you raise the temp by moving the flame closer to the heat intake, and lower the temp by moving the flame away from the intake.

^ The above are two variables you can play with that have the greatest effect on the type of hit you want. Experiment with both in great detail. Try really slow hits with barely any flame, and really fast hits with a lot of flame, and then try everything in between to find your own custom "goldilocks zone".

Also, try different grind consistencies (coarse to fine, and everything in-between). That is another factor you can play with that will effect the type of vapor you get.

And finally, with the flame technique...My advice is to go into a dimly lit room and look at the flame on your torch. You will see the "inner flame" that you see in a lit room. You will also see a two to three times as large "outer flame" that is not as easy to see in a well lit room. Start your inhale with the tip of that outer flame above the top of the glass flame intake hole, and then start to touch the tip of that outer flame to the entrance of the heat intake hole as if you were just brushing across it like the outer flame tip is the tip of a paintbrush. Try that while experimenting with faster or slower inhales till you can get satisfying vapor that way. Once you've mastered that, you can start to experiment with dipping the tip of that outer flame more into the open end of the air intake just a little, or a flicker at a time while while learning to adjust your draw speed as you increase the heat. And maybe look at the herb every couple of hits to determine if it needs a stir to help the herb roast evenly.

Others may disagree, but I've found the above method technique to be extremely rewarding, especially when warming up to a new unit. I've found that what works well for me rarely requires barely any of the tip of that outer flame to go down past the top of the heat intake. And I'm talking about pointing the flame straight into the intake.

Thank you! i believe i found this zone naturally.
i am back to single-torch full time on the brick.
i still overestimate my hits though.. thinking the AVB will be black, but it's always green-yellow!
sometimes i get a full extraction from one hit though!

thank you i need to pay more attention this one !

yes this was basically my practice method!
i feel i have my technique very close to 80% of the way :)

agreed! if pointed straight in, nothing should really dip in. those were the few times i combusted.

If you want versatility with the stem, then you want the Maxx. It has an 18mm GonG connection that you can attach whatever you want to.

My favorite current configuration, when I want to use water with my brick, is this hydrotube:

I guess you could try to find some "Silicone Taper Plug" of the right dimension, punch a hole in center and force-place your whip in it, link it to your favorite glass and bang you're done !

It's just a matter of good size of the rubber cap i guess... And you could either place it in the glass mouthpiece or directly in the intake hole.

Hey folks I'm having some custom work by an artisan in the community and I'm looking for the exact dimensions of the sticky brick runt bowl. Can anyone help? I have a model with a ridge on top. Image below. I'd like the diameter of the inner bowl, the diameter of the larger ridge at the top, as well as the depth of possible. Thanks in advance

I am not sure if bowl size is the same across Sticky Bricks, but since I recently got some calipers that I am excited to use, I measured my Maxx bowl. Larger diameter is 20mm, smaller inner diameter where you load flower was 15mm.

Thanks for the info @Texus . I'm not sure if they're the same. Those measurements are close to what I get on my tape measure but it's hard to read with 100% accuracy.

My old style flipbrick bowl appears smaller then my runt bowl.

I didn't realize there was a dedicated runt thread I'll take my question there. I thought this was a catch-all for all bricks.

1. Measurement of the inner diameter of the glass mouthpiece
2. Measurement of the diameter of YOUR whip
3. Go on Aliexpress and copy-paste "Silicone Taper Plug".
3 Bis. You could optionnally get a glass elbow to link your bong to your whip
4. Hope you are over 18… sometimes on that chinese website, translation is a PITA… ahem... ^^

I'll do these measurement later if really needed… but i bet you can do it too ! ;)

Just popped in to say despite planning to sell it,
and having a ELEV8R (#1 IMO)
and a log (Heat Island)....

I still pick up my Sticky Brick every other day!
There is just something about the handheld ritual that can't be replaced! For me, coming from smoking anyway.
