I'd say this is a pretty solid practical endorsement. You sir have convinced me.
I can vouch for these as well. I moved away from them for a bit as a bit of an A/B test and the bowl got significantly messier than a couple weeks of using them. The loading process is a bit timely but the lack of maintenance for the following week or so is worth it. I've never really had a problem with getting uneven hits though, and you're probably introducing a little bit of conduction with the metal heating up as well.
If you check on ebay there are legit sellers at a slight discount if you factor in shipping. It's a minor cost for something that if you take care of them should last you a while. The capsules themselves are delicate but not fragile thankfully.
I will say having a trench to work in like a rolling tray definitely helps for loading.
