some more sap, was told it was louis XIII, not really sure what it is, but it is quite tasty
That's interesting. My glass tube most definitely gets cold. Moisture from the air condenses and freezes on the glass during the extraction, and I have to wear a glove to stop it from freezing to my hand, the same as with my steel one.BTW I had a long discussion with Richard, the owner of Sheldon Black during the Spannabis. He confirmed he got clearly better results in terms of yield & flavor with SS vs. glass (that was already my personal opinion)! He said he thinks it is because SS gets real cold while glass stays at "ambient" temp. ... Coming from a glassblower, I think it's a valuable tip!

I can see that the steel will get colder quicker, but then won't it also transfer and lose that coldness without the insulating effect of glass? And how does coldness help with the actual extraction efficiency- as long as the butane is liquid will it matter? What's the thinking?
i've never really been into BHO runs but after seeing that i could just use a turkey baster to do it i'm a bit interested now. my knowledge about the BHO extraction set up is a bit lacking so hang with me here. with a turkey baster like that, would you remove the bulb from the turkey baster or leave it on? also, how would you filter using that? wrap a coffee filter outside around the tip?
i only do ABV reclaims a few times a year and don't have much ABV each time, probably about 20-30 grams so i feel like if i can get this turkey baster made to use extractions i might start using butane instead of ISO.
lastly, if someone could post up a step by step tutorial or a video on the proper way to do a BHO run i would greatly appreciate it. i only find bits and pieces of the method throughout threads and haven't been able to find a quality thorough tutorial.

that's great im glad to hear others are venturing off into the wonderful world of concentrates also I nearly gave up herbs last summer when I found how to make bho. and it's just continued to be a learning experience.
Wish I could sample the stuff they are making in Colorado / Cali my homebrew is probably not as good as the stuff they make in lab grade environments.
I think it would be an amazing job making bho for a living!
any q's and i'd be happy to help ya out
please do be safe about it. I'd hate to hear someone tried something casue i said it was worth it and then hurt themselves. do the run and the initial evaporation outside in a well ventilated area with no source of spark or flame near by.
i am actually watching a great vid right nowdamn dude! will you do a vid or take pics for us of the process? how much did it set you back??
nice man that stuff looks really good!
your herbs also looks very nice!
i've done bho runs outside in the winter it was snowing even! where there is the will there is a way!
how is the taste and smell? any more smelly than the others? also, have you ever had bho? how does it compare?
