1. They're not copying a design... well, technically they are, but they're the same company (Karma/DaVinci).
2. When I went to buy my car, I traded in my old one and got some money for it. So yes, I "upgraded" by trading in my old car for a new one.

I wish someone on here would try one of these and report back. lol. I've seen a handful of positive blog reviews, but not necessarily from sources I trust. Now that I'm not getting an Ascent, I really need to find a reasonable portable alternative. I'm primarily looking at the Pinnacle Pro, but I have to admit that I'm a little curious about this one.

i agree and im having the same problem as you. i was going for an ascent but now its this, pinnicle pro, pax, or vb2. thee reviews seem to good to be true. i love the pinnicle but hate that the mouthpieces are loose. i cant risk putting it in my pocket preloaded and everything spilling out. does anyone know how loose the mouthpeices are or have any suggestions.

Cars vs Vapes hardly a fair comparison. If I owned a $250 product, even for a short period of time I would expect it to be worth much as a trade in for a new improved product.
I don't care if it's copied from the DV even if there is no Karma connection. The fact it hasn't hit FC or other places is a worry but I'm sure there are thousands who buy these things but never visit a vapor message board.

wonder if parts are compatible with original da vinci vape. looks like the sonic mouthpiece will fit the da vinci. the part with a screen on the sonic that connects to mouthpiece does not look like it comes off like the da vinci, could just be the picture though. I like how the chamber swings the other way, will be nice if da vinci spoke up on this model if indeed they are making them
Just as a quick weight in on this vape...no the Sonic is not made by nor affiliated with DaVinci. Like some of the other vapes out there, some Chinese manufacturer saw an opportunity and copied it. See the Vaporite Twister as a prime example....They do that with every other possible product, so vapes are not immune.

All of the reviews I have read have came from sources I don't trust. I too would like to read an actual unbiased review from a proven member here. Until then I won't be considering it. Can't afford to be a guinea pig!

Originally there were two threads that were opened about this vape. In the other one someone said that Sonic was a fully owned subsidiary of Karma. I guess that's not the case. Sorry for spreading misinformation.

that's probably because you can't reach them. I've tried to contact them concerning a review on my blog, but there is no working contact on their homepage, so i doubt that these reviews are honest...

If you look at the Sonic website, it's clear (to me) that they don't want to say where they're located. All they have is a contact link, including one for warranty issues. You might be able to lie and say you have a unit that needs service, and see if you can get an address, but otherwise they'd prefer not to disclose their physical location. They're also short one year of warranty vs. the DV, which is covered for 2 yrs.
I would only buy this model from a trusted dealer who will promise to replace the vape if it goes down during the one year warranty period. That would be a short list and I'm not sure anyone is on it. Vaporstore and VaporNation are two that carry it, but neither has any warranty info listed on it. Without a dealer to stand behind it, you'd be looking at shipping it back to somewhere in China.
