The kief is a result of water washing the trim and lower quality buds. It carries the chlorophyll into the dry product which makes for a less than tasty vape. It presses very well in the Slug and the return is very kind to the mind both in yield and effect. I will most likely eat the pressed disc with Nutella and peanut butter. A tiny firecracker if you will.....

@Nattybushdoctor Some of my buds(pun intended) were talking about getting some fresh nugs so I could squish it for them. What would be the best bud to squish for the guys? Straight off the plant as they can get, or what? I know I've heard you say that fresh buds are the best, but how fresh is best?

If i said fresh buds are best then i misspoke. There is no way to tell how a flower will perform until we extract from it. Most all of my experience has been with outdoor organic flower. All of our extraction videos are done with Jar cured outdoor, untouched high quality seed grown genetics. We prefer TGA genetics, Sativa dominate cultivars like Chernobyl and Vortex. Indica dominate cultivars do very well too.
The key is a nice cured/dried unmolested flower that has copious amounts of resin. We only use our own flowers but when I see store bought flower a lot of it looks over handled. A quick look with a good magnifying glass or jewelers loop would tell the story. We are extremely careful not to touch our flowers, no touching on the vine, during the manicuring or storing. No touching of flowers in anyway until the moment before use. I'm rambling on, Im just a freak when it comes to how flowers are handled. I understand in most places what i'm talking about is un real expectation. Good luck.

TGA genetics are absolutely amazing hash cultivars. That vortex is legendary, the jacks cleaner 2 will make some amazing lemonade tasting oil, the cuvee is very potent with no ceiling and a unique mint cherry tasting rosin. Indica dominant cultivars should do best IME. Most of those strains come from hash plant varieties located in the far east, the amount of resin on those versus equatorial landraces is pretty significant :2c:

This setup is all you need if you are a little guy like me and it all fits into a tool bag. I love slug33.

I have more than I need so it's break time.

Only see the 14” tool bag around here. Not sure if the dimensions are external or internal. Think a 14” would be long enough?

Love that you are killing it with your yields! I feel like it will almost become a hobby, something I work at to always try to beat my last yield, whether or not I actually need the medication at the moment. Lol.

There is an electrical method I beleive @Nattybushdoctor mentioned somewhere?

I thought most rosin users also have an enail coil and controller... and it would be possible to make a slug .33 like the showerhead where you put the 20mm coil around... also you could dial in temps...
I don not want to use a torch...

E-nail coil would take MUCH longer, and be a little tricky. You would have to basically preheat the slug, quickly add your material (while attempting not to burn yourself!), position it on the vise while hot, and start pressing. It would be tricky to know how long your material was at what temperature. The alternative is adding your material first, then heating with coil, but then your material is very slowly coming up to temp.

Torch works great because it is so fast, and with a little experimentation, very precise.

do not know my e nail coil is is heating up fast...

I think there would be solution maybe make the slug longer then the coil... then you fill your herb in the part where the coil does not make direct contact and after reaching temp you can start pressing... also you have the handle of your e nail coil so you do not have to touch the hot slug...
I am sure there would be solutions to overcome the problems you mentioned..

I mean a slug similar to the flowerpot showerhead but for making rosin:

Nice idea but wouldn't make any real sense in a economic way I believe. Such a huge coil would cost 100 at least + controller. For that total costs you can get a whole plate setup.
but a lot of people who use rosin I guess have already an e-nail coil and controller...
I would use the e-nail coil and controller from my flowerpot showerhead or would buy an extra coil for 35 dollars to use only with the slug... it depends how often you would make rosin... so I also would not have to buy a torch... I would only have to buy the slug for 59 dollars...

to be honest i find the price point of the slug ideal for one person to make rosin for his/her personal use... and it seems also as it is not a gimmick as some (cheap) personal rosin presses seem to be... In my opinion this should not be to hard to make? or?

@Nattybushdoctor yes but I think you would have to pay extra for the heating element... as I mentioned before in my opinion a lot of people using rosin have an enail coil and controller already... and would only have to buy the "e-nail coil" slug...

I say do it! Be the first to show us how its done! Thats one of the fun things about your SLUG.33, experimentation! You cant hurt it, have fun, It doesn't matter how we heat it.
