Skrillex isn't bad, but he is really mainstream for dubstep, whenever I am at gatherings he seems to be the only artist most people know. I personally like Borgore, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5WxZNIpszs, he talks in his dubstep but I have come to like all of it and his lyrics are funny, IMO.
I would refer to him as one of the only "filthy" dubstep spawners.

That one isn't his best but its really nice to hear and take action to after a few bowls.

Also other good artists - DatSik, Cookie Monsta (Already been noted), Downlink (Lookup Halloween Mix), Rusko, Epixha

Notable Songs:
If you're into Zelda <3

skrillex isn't actually dubstep, hes more electro/happy hardcore, hes got talent, but hes kind of full of himself and gets drunk and makes a fool of himself during live sets. i haven't been listening to as much dubstep, but if you dig skrillex i think you might also like

Good god man, someone spilled beer all over your Atari and it sounds fucking CRAZY. This just sounds like a bad record that's skipping, over and over, to my ears.

@stroh, thanks for pointing that out. when i listened to the first few suggestions, i thought these are cool, but not heavy enough, i want that nin sound that skrillex adds! loving it.

I like and despise the genre at the same time. I hated what it was when it first hit the scene a few years ago. It became interesting and funky when it lost a lot of it's hard edge and gained influence from other genres. Now it has been spat out the other side in to commercial territory which is where it lost me... PopStep or DubPop... I think a lot of it now is just pop with some fat wobble bass added

*this is all my opinion and is by no means trying to offend. -different strokes for different folks-**

i detected no offensive statement, i too have been finding myself less interested in the "brostep" that the genre has turned in to, i used to love the super heavy durty drops, but now its just getting kind of repetitive for me, though its definitely still good tunes to listen to when you're vaked haha. but lately i've been feeling more of the darker, ambient sounding dubstep that still has its roots in grime and 2 step, like the burial, plastician, wartech, the widdler, etc.

Big fan of Subscape - we even booked him a couple of times for dubstep/dnb nights over the last few years.

Personally, like others here who have been listening to dubstep for at least 3 years now, I think people like Skrillex ruined it. He may not have been the first by a long shot but he greatly contributed to that ever-growing penchant for overly-wobbly wank-step/bro-step whatever you want to call it now.

Dirty tunes used to hold more attraction when there weren't so many around and didn't sound like they are just trying so, so hard to be grimy - see Rusko's stuff from like 2008, or even Subscape's stuff from around 2009, when this style was just reaching past its peak. Nowadays, I can only really listen to the more chilled out stuff.

Mala and Phaeleh have been great over the last couple of years, and people like Ramadanman and Pangaea have been taking the scene beyond that wobbly-wanky-shite to something that's been called 'future-garage.'

Any dubstep, or for that matter any drum-n-bass / bass-heavy electronic music, that you can listen to on your laptop speakers and still think you're hearing most of the song, doesn't deserve to be called dubstep at all. Sub bass > annoying distorted synths anyday in my book
