Sorry if I'm re-posting, went back a bit and couldn't find this posted. Probably my favorite video on the net, lots of you probably know the speech. Absolutely love the music added in. One of the quote that just puts it all in perspective for me:
"Think of the rivers of blood, spilled by all those emperors and generals, so that in glory & triumph they could become the momentary masters, of a fraction, of a dot."

When Michael Collins took this photo, he was the only person in the world not in the picture.

@RUDE BOY, I don't know. I'm using the photo insert tool, and I think the gif is hosted by imgur. I believe it's a particularily large one. It looks fine on my screen!

Are you on a wireless device? Because these are both pretty large gifs.

Does this one work for you?

No going wireless here, laptop on LAN. The pic that disappeared was a small one, but probably something off on my end if I'm the only one not seeing things.

Computers gotta love 'em , gotta hate 'em ! I'm surely no tech minded/savvy person.

It might be your browser or anti-malware/virus software. I know Malwarebytes blocks some pics from certain domains for me but I see everything @grokit posts just fine.

Edit: :) The feed is LIVE! http://www.spaceflightnow.com/falcon9/010/status.html

2108 GMT (5:08 p.m. EDT)
T-minus 60 minutes. Skies are mostly cloudy over Cape Canaveral, but all weather conditions are currently observed GO for launch at 6:08 p.m. EDT (2208 GMT). There is now a 10 percent chance of weather violating one of the Falcon 9's weather rules.
Weather balloons are being launched throughout the countdown to monitor winds aloft.

1920 GMT (3:20 p.m. EDT)
Storms have passed over Cape Canaveral over the last couple of hours, but officials see a clearing trend later this afternoon. There is optimism in the launch control center.

Launch ABORT for pressure "decay" in stage 2 . . .

SpaceX is pressing on with a launch attempt at 5:46 p.m. EDT (2146 GMT), according to Orbcomm, owner of the Falcon 9 rocket's six payloads. Fueling of the two-stage rocket should begin around 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT).

I think this will fly today . . . :)

Edit: A SpaceX spokesperson confirms they will make a launch attempt today. The 53-minute launch window opens at 5:46 p.m. EDT (2146 GMT). Kerosene and liquid oxygen are being pumped aboard the two-stage Falcon 9 rocket.

EDIT: SpaceX says there will be no webcast of this evening's launch attempt . . .

That Nanotech news really would be the one of those breakthroughs that for me could be one of the most life changing important scientific/medical advances since the mid '90s that is if it can make it into clinical applications in the near future.

:tup:Life is even Better with advancing medical science!!!!

The forecast remains favorable for SpaceX's planned 1:25 a.m. Tuesday launch of the AsiaSat 8 commercial communications satellite from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The nearly 10,000-pound AsiaSat 8 satellite, built by Space Systems/Loral, will provide additional capacity focused on the Indian subcontinent and Middle East. The spacecraft and its 24 Ku-band transponders will fly at the 105.5 degrees East orbital location, near the company's existing AsiaSat 7 satellite, in a geostationary orbit more than 22,000 miles over the equator.

Florida Today will have live coverage beginning at 1 a.m. Tuesday

Neuroscientist V. Ramachandran discusses the discovery of mirror neurons—proof that empathy is a actually a simple human physical reflex, not a complex set of emotions.
http://www.ted.com/talks/vs_ramachandran_the_neurons_that_shaped_civilization

In his more controversial work, Ramachandran talks of the brain's "god module" responsible for spirituality, namely parts of the temporal lobe. He describes the hyperreligiosity of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) sufferers. It is fascinating to think that all religious prophets thoughout history may have actually just been suffering from TLE!

Love this thread!

Love this thread!

Or,further proof that the complex set of emotions (etc. in the conscious being) is mirrored in the epiphenomenonal physical world (the existence of which is unprovable without the existence of sentience).
