Fuck that, and Fuck Combustion forever! :myday:

Plus, once the site gets too mainstream is when we'll have to migrate to somewhere else and leave this once peaceful place behind as the idiot masses ride roughshod over the threads here.

If you want that sort of heavy traffic, then you should go hang out on r/vaporents for a while, with it's million "vapeshots" and "what vape hits hardest?" posts per day...and not much substance otherwise.

Wow this thread started in 2013 and is still on contentious ground.
I love the name, do not fuckin curse a lot because my vocabulary is fucken amazing.
You want a more serious forum, start publishing in scientific journals and be peer fucked. I mean reviewed. peer reviewed.
I think that fuck combustion has a certain cachet. :2c: :worms: :goon:

I've never liked (or respected) the name of this forum. It's akin to 'trailer-trash,' bottom-feeder, skum-bag, vomit, etc.

Which I think does great dishonor to Marijuana. I think it deserves better. Much better.

When you hear the word fuck, you liken it to trailer-trash, bottom-feeders, skum-bags, etc? Or is it only in the case of this forum name? Genuinely curious.

I think continuing to use the word Marijuana does more of a dishonor to cannabis than the name of an online forum. We as enthusiasts can do better. That's my :2c: though, and who the fuck am I to say anything.

The more you say a word, the more it looses it's power, like Impeachment, or Marijuana. Ha Except for the 'f' word. And even that to a certain extent. We do get desensitized by repetition to evil things to a certain degree.

I'd just so much rather see a Marijuana forum that respects/honors the bud in its Title instead of just the opposite.

You are for sure right about being desensitized to things or topics that become repetitive, but then you lost me at the use of "evil things". I'm probably misunderstanding what you mean, but it sounds like you are implying words can be evil?

I appreciate the discussion on the topic. It's kind of silly for members to use the word fuck in a way that makes them sound like children who just learned what it means, but it's also kind of silly to get rid of or prevent the use of words because of personal opinion. Could the creators of FC chose a different name for the forums, sure. They didn't though, they chose to express themselves with the use of the word fuck instead of using other words such as forget/no/never/disregard/ignore/dismiss and on and on.

I'm still not sure how saying "fuck combustion" disrespects the cannabis plant or industry. I mean, we aren't the ones setting fire to plants....unlike law enforcement who have a documented history of seizing and setting fire to entire crops. I mean come on!! Lighting a cannabis plant on fire, that's disrespectful to the plant, imo. :cool:

I can appreciate what @badbee felt when explaining the name, but that feeling of debasing or embarrassment is a personal feeling.

I do agree with you and badbee about the name and how it translates into business or mainstream conversation. If the goal is to bring more people into the world of vaping cannabis, the name change should be seriously considered.

I agree with @Ramahs as well though, that if the forum gets too mainstream, it will turn to trash, as all of the quality contributers will likely leave for a different site. I've seen it happen with other interest forums.

Bottom line, this is an open and welcoming forum like @howie105 said. There are regular contributions to the site that come directly from manufacturers and industry leaders/pioneers, which is rare in forums like this. Tons and tons of knowledge here. Those points alone should make people comfortable talking about this website with no shame associated.

And real quick, thanks for taking the time to listen and discuss this topic with me. I lurked a little before I joined last March, and I've only been vaping for a little more than a year, so compared to others, I'm super new. No real reason to listen to what I have to say on the topic, so i appreciate the consideration in responding to these posts. :rockon:

Wow. I have a string of expletives that I'd love to throw your way for insulting the name of our beloved forum in such a way. However, the mods would probably not be too happy with it.

I guess this is a fantastic opportunity to say to not to let the screen-door hit you in the ass on your way out, if you don't like it here...since you so adamentally think we sound like "'trailer-trash,' bottom-feeder, skum-bags":mad:

If anyone is such a shitty and uptight person to be put off by the name, enough to accuse us of sounding like 'trailer-trash,' bottom-feeder, skum-bags, then we don't need their judgemental, pious asses here in the first place. I can't stand judgemental POS people like that. Why can't they just calm the fuck down and relax, especially as cannabis users. I don't get their hostility.

I don't think she was actually inferring that FC members are trailor-trash or scumbags, etc. Although I can see how you might think she was.

@kushkush - in the U.K. the 'middle' & 'upper' classes loudly & proudly enunciate the word 'fucking' and use it A LOT. Not what most would consider or describe as scumbags or trailor trash :2c:

Personally, I love the name of this site. It is exactly what it is. After all, we are an edgy alternative bunch of passionate trailblazing enthusiasts and if anyone is offended by a simple word like 'fuck' meant in a non-offensive manner, then they just aren't ready for us!

- But feel free to hop back into the mainstream - you'll be just fine there :tup:

As for sharing the site with others, I think it's all about how you come across when you tell them. If you are among friends I hope there would not be a problem, but if there is, you can just call it 'FC' to begin with. And when you eventually tell them you can say the 'Fuck' part under a hushed tone and with a wry smile ;)

I am honestly surprised anyone would really be that shocked or offended in this day & age by something so trivial.

Forget preconceptions, look deeper, open your (my) mind.

Hmmmm, now, I wonder what could help with that? :razz:

Oh, I get what she meant. I was still offended by that.

My attitude is this:
1) Fuck you if you think it sounds vulgar and unappealing. I think that you're vulgar and unappealing for feeling that way.
2) There are other sites than this one which you can visit, if you are such a snowflake that you're offended by a little vulgarity.
3) Don't let the door hit you on your ass on the way out.

I only have one of these left. I've had it for years...and nothing she said makes me think that I should give it up for something so trivial as her opinion on this.

I viewed that as an equivication...as in, to her we sounded vulgar and like we come off as the same as if we were referred to as "trailer trash", "bottom feeders", or "scumbags", merely by using the word "fuck"...which is a completely ridiculous position to take.

I don't have any patience for people that are so touchy and "snowflakeish" about "vulgar" words. I say fuck your sensitivities. Words are words. I fail to see how any word could be inherently considered bad or vulgar, purely on it's utterance...as if context is irrelevant.

Words are not inherently bad. Context matters.

First: renaming is not possible unless @vtac (forum founder and owner) returns, and even if he does I am pretty sure he would not agree to a name change.

Next: while I appreciate defending the name choice, it has to be done in a manner that respects those who don't like the name. I dislike handing out warning points, and it's worse when I have to give one to a long-standing normally well-behaved member who was defending the forum, or at least its name. Please keep it civil. Thanks for your cooperation.
