Recyclers - Discussion and Appreciation

Just spitballing here, but maybe, because it doesn't have a base it can't stand up.

If it can't stand up, then after you've used it, you try to put it down, and the hot nail flops around wherever the joint ends up.
By having a female joint, you can use an adapter to hold the nail, and take the adapter out when you're putting the piece down.

So my poor, poor Steve Beer recycler didn't make it complete. UPS I guess didn't like it much...
Hopefully it can be fixed or replaced. The green silm was a better looker, but it functions the same.

So I picked up the Swiss Recycler. It is a flower pipe as it comes with a matching slide, but works just fine with a domeless nail or a adapter of course. That new highly educated 5 piece nail does everything 18/14 males and females so bingo...

I'll throw up a vid, but the detail inside is somewhat hidden by the frosting.
This is a collab between Liberty 503 and RAD Glass. Both names are etched into the frosting. I met RAD and discussed adding a stand. It would be easy so I may add it. The operation is nice and the whirlpool action works well.

There is also a non frosted - clear version available in the Piece of Mind store in Bend Oregon (according to the facebook page post against this piece's post here in Portland).

What got my attention was this double whirlpool recycler by RAD. There are two whirlpool actions - 1 in the funnel on top and one from the return on the bottom. It is real trick and every hard to do on this size - its like 5" tall. I didn't grab it though so its still there at Piece of Mind Portland. Costly for the size... I talked to RAD and asked if he was doing any larger ones - like 10" and he said yes. Put my name on one... He is also doing one bigger. Maybe if its still there Thursday I will do a cell phone vid w/o vape, but with water...

In my opinion one of the bests recycler you can get is this $400 one from Toro, I bet a lot of you didn't even know they made one...

00v0v_4OmTDDHJDjx_600x450.jpg

Talk about value for money, you can pick it up now for only $90 on craigslist.

There is also this super recycler they do if you fancy something slightly bigger.

This beast is only $100 on craigslist, perhaps even more of a bargain if you consider the fact that it's super. I bet you're reaching for your wallet PhotoRider.

Yes, but I bought a Honda, I think Japanese recyclers are much better and money was no object. I leave the lower cost recyclers for people who like budget items because they can't tell the difference - perhaps this one is for you?

Sorry, didn't mean to insult you with my cheap recycler suggestions. I'm sure with a bit of TLC you'll be able to get some fresh tasty vapours. I just thought you might want a few additions to your ever expanding collection of recyclers.

Yes, but my tastes in "herb" is bit different than yours :D Not to say your tastes are wrong or right, just different than mine. Perhaps if you tried the stuff that typically doesn't grow in your front yard you may change your tatses and see the light that the tool your suggesting don't work for the application you suggest. Just saying.

I understand you didn't mean to insult me on "cheap recycler suggestions". Never thought that at all...

I really thought you just meant to insult me in general. Nothing to do with cheap at all. Its all good bro, I just consider the source and as such it mean little to me. The only thing it does mean to me is my collection seems to stir enough feelings in you to single me out and be rude. I say feelings and not thought here because I think this behavior exhibits more emotion than intellect.

Sorry man, I never meant to insult you. It was just that you're dominating this thread with all your recyclers and you've got the largest collection I've ever seen and I think it's really impressive. You know I've already told you how cool I thought it will all look when you've got your main pieces up on the shelves with lighting.

I didn't think for a second that the comment I made could be taken as anything other than a harmless joke. Once again I'm sorry if you took offence as that was never my intention because I'm just not that sort of person as all the people that know me on FC will tell you.

LOL - Got you :)
Its all good Richy. Wasn't sure and yes I remember your previous comments. My glass is my last hoorah so I am doing it nicely. Most will be past to others to enjoy. A win-win :)

Thanks for the kind comments. I share them with anybody and carry them around. Nice to have friends in the business.

Guess I am a bit sensitive. I thought about posting some since people could misunderstand and take it the wrong way (not that I think you are here - you are just having fun :) ). But in the end, I thought what the heck, share the designs and artist's work - that is what its about. Since I made that decision, I must live it and not be overly sensitive. I believe here I was so I owe you an humble apology for my comebacks even through meant to be in jest were overly strong and poor for net behavior - too deep for just written words. Better in person where body english has a part :D

You know that's what I like about this stuff. Us users are typically mellow mood people and a little medication helps us see the light. Unlike alcohol, at least from my experience :)

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
So did you guys ever come to a consensus? I really want to get a recycler but I'm not gonna drop 500plus on one.

I like big glass and a lot of these seem kind of small. Any quality 12 -15 inch recyclers around in the 200ish range?

I think due to the extra work/plumbing involved with recyclers, they are gonna tend to just be more expensive in general, so smaller rigs are where you're more likely to see cheaper prices.
Having said that, I have read that after a certain point, the difficulties in making a tiny piece up the price again.
And there the point that most recyclers seem to be aimed at dabbing, which already tends toward smaller pieces.

In regards to a consensus, my take-away is that a "recycler" is essentially a fancy splashguard, which actually makes the piece hit differently than an otherwise identical non-recycling piece.
Some recycling designs increase the amount of filtering you're getting by prolonging the vapor/water contact time.
Whether you'll truly like it is down to personal preference.
The delta-nine one PhotoRider posted seems to be the best value recycler around at this time.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that

I like how this thread has become a more general recycler discussion thread :)
Keep up the glass porn :mmmm:

And in other news:
I'm getting a recycler
Won't post any deets until I've got it, but I'm looking forward to trying it out :D

I'd agree with SSVUN~YAH that these are some of the best value recyclers I can think of.

The Delta 9 disc recycler is priced at $200 and their stemline recycler is $170, they are both 11" tall. Since this is an iOffer store if you are interested in either of them you could make the sell an offer to see if you can get it any cheaper. These prices include US shipping but I'm guessing shipping to Australia might push the price up a bit for you Fred. It doesn't say what glass they're made out of but PhotoRider might have an idea of the thickness also he seemed happy with the build quality.

If you include the FC discount the Colie Glass stemline recycler is $135.50 shipped to US and $141.50 shipped to Australia, it is only slightly shorter than the Delta 9 models at 10" tall. It's made with Simax glass which I believe is good quality stuff and the recycler has a wall thickness of 5mm. As for the build quality I can tell you that I own a couple of Colie Glass pieces and I couldn't be more happy with them, there are no bubbles in the glass and everything is straight so you've got no worries there.

I haven't seen a video of the Delta 9 stemline in action but I'm guessing you saw the video that PhotoRider posted of the honeycomb in action. Here is a video I found of the Colie Glass Recycler.

I know some of the stuff I put in this post has already been said but I just thought I'd put it all in one place for ease of reference so I hope this helps. I'm sure I probably don't need to say this as you all seem like FC vets but for any newer members all the text highlighted in white are links you can click to find the relevant pieces.

Yeah, I was going to include that but I didn't because it's only 6" tall and Bill seemed to want something bigger, also they don't ship outside the US so it's no good for Fred. It's a good deal if you're in the US and want a very small piece but at $122 once you add in tax and shipping it's getting very close to the price of the Colie Glass piece so personally I feel you are getting more glass for your money with that.

It's a good job you mentioned it though because I'm sure someone looking for a micro recycler would sure be interested in it. I'd like to see a member post a video of it in action so we can find out how well it recycles/"whirlpools".

Of course man, I don't think any of us are really pushing anything. We're just trying to answer some fellow member's questions to the best of our knowledge and help them out, that's what's so great about this community.

EDIT: I'd love to see a video of that double you just posted in action, it looks very interesting.

Hempfest weekend. Need to get one of those chip bags with WA pot laws on it being handed out by the SDP. Giving out 1000 bags to 120,000+ attendees :)

Not pushing anything :) just sharing. For me recyclers are visual and interesting. Discussing the prec diff - that's personal. Some like little diffusion and so like a lot... However, recyclers seems to be a fad right now.

Yes, I have seen that double recycle at POM UDUB :)

I don't know the blower. I have a Blazemaster on order which I like much more. Its a custom by Josh so I have no idea what it will look like yet. I just told him to do his thing... His previous doubles look like:

Another interesting series is by Badback. They have several interesting ones...

Hit up Collie to see if he could do a blood drip version of his recycler turns out he cant = /

Maybe I can buy his for $160 and have someone else do the blood drips?

I am so digging this thread... and I haven't even hit a recycler yet! I have been drooling over the bates x worm mini diffusion pump for some time now... simply because I am all about cooling down my vapor- I've realized it's what I want most from a piece. kinda seems overkill to get a $400 tube for a $300 Cera, but how can I feel ridiculous when my best friend has 2k in glass (and is about to drop another grand), and his friend has over 6k! They're bad influences!

kinda like this website :D

In any event, the actual reason I am posting is that I want advice- what's similar to a diffusion pump? my best friend hit one and really liked it, but generally isn't a big fan of recyclers due to how hard one has to pull on them. He (and I) like pieces that pull really easily... so what should we be looking at aside from the pump?

Lets see, I have 13 recyclers and no Steve Bates, but its on the list... Been eyeing one for a while :)

Recycler's tend to cost more so the Bates is right in line with cost. Ignoring Delta 9 types.

As far as draw - yes you must move the water with the vape so it can be higher, depends on how much water of course. Bigger = harder draw normally.

However, my normal suggestion would work for your app since you want to use it for the Cera. Are you connecting via a hose or inserting into a GONG?

The easiest draws are small ones like the Beers style so that would be my suggestion. I use my Jedeye (waiting for the Beer replacement) with my Cera. I also use my Mothership Torus. Both work well for it. The MS i too $$$ though. My suggestion stay small like no higher that 8".

Thanks for the tips PhotoRider!

You're making those $100 recyclers on boromarket look real tempting!

Lol about the Torus... my best friend almost bought one a few days ago (he really wants a mothership), but somehow I managed to unintentionally talk him out of it  he decided to wait a bit, and then he decided against it when he read that the pull on them is kinda heavy (his daily driver is a Toro froth to contrax). Now instead he wants a super-heady piece... go figure.

I will keep my eyes on small recyclers... and when my finances improve I'm getting a bates x worm:D I don't mind heavier draws as much as my friend, but I still agree with you- for the cera, smaller is better. which is why I think the mini bates x worm seems ideal for the cera... it's small but the design looks like it really cools down the vapor (and if my friend gives it the , I trust his judgement).
