Whaaaaat? People who have what they need to survive are less likely to resort to drastic measure to survive????? Next you're gonna tell me that cops don't even have to protect and serve, and that they have additional protection against breaking the law despite being the ones who should be most scrutinized as those in power!
In the US, state / local Law Enforcement Organizations (LEOs) enjoy something called 'qualified immunity'. If an action was committed, they're generally off the hook / untouchable. This varies by state ('blue' states will prosecute faster for
documented misdeeds; 'red' ones generally shield the bad cops, especially if there is a racial component involved; aka: 'open season on people of color'.)
Federal LEOs used to adhere to the higher 'blue' standard, but after seeing them tackle, cuff and remove a sitting US Senator today (who have
specifically protected free speech rights under the Constitution), that looks to be pretty much gone as a guardrail of US jurisprudence, now. Should be pretty easy to find the video on US-based media today.
Next up will be what happens on Saturday, in California, Texas & DC, amongst other places. Saturday looks to be a very interesting day to see what is left of Rule of Law in this country, with 1800 distinct protests scheduled across the country (and more across Europe, in solidarity, etc.) By nightfall, those US locations (or all 'blue' states, etc.) could be under martial law. Hopefully not, but people have been expecting this for awhile, now.
