I always have a hard time turning down family members that want to borrow money. Most of the time i just give it to them if they need it, if it's a couple hundred dollars. Recently have been feeling taken advantage of. I want to help out family but resent that they don't work harder to generate more income for themselves.

Thanks I needed to get that out. I feel better.

There is nothing worse than a free loader. I sincerely dislike giving money away or loaning it. Family or not. I work for my money, you can work for yours.

Thank you, @Vitolo -- been doing some very deep work, splashing through the stream and digging out some very deeply embedded logs [it's a metaphor, just let me run with it], some of them needed blasting.

Now, it's filling in the holes, and digging a new channel around the kink in the river.

Creating family is the best way to do that, ever! I'd not be here without my husband. We're still struggling with old shit, the both of us, but we are survivors, and we believe in each other, and that's all we really need, is just someone to believe in us.

*hugs*

@Enchantre Families can be a wonderful thing. I love my husband, children and grandchildren. I have a good relationship with my 2 brothers. We have many families members that I struggle to have a relationship with. I miss my mom but was lucky enough to have her with me for 57 years. My dad was verbally and emotionally abusive to everyone in my family he died when I was 39. It was almost a relief for all of us. We knew our mom would be happier.

You can make a family with close friends. You don't need to be related to family to form a close bond with others. Families can also be a major pain in the ass. I don't look forward to the Christmas holidays often because of that. I'm forced to make nice with people that I choose not to be around other times of the year.

I think looking in other lives and families you will find out that not everyone has that story tale type wonderful family. It does happen but not all the time. There are secrets and problems in most extended families we just don't see it.

I know it's hard at times just being thankful for your health and what you do have. I had a major health scare this past year and I'm glad that I may live another 20 years, I hope. I'm glad I live in the era of medicine in this day and age, with all the new diagnostic tests.

Has anyone looked closely at Sean Spicer's eyes? Every time I see him on TV they are like this electric pink color.

Soooooo . . .

Either he is stoned (probably not) or he has an incredibly acute case of pink eye (highly probable) or his blood pressure is so fucking high that it's about to make his head explode . . . (even more probable but I still think pinkeye is involved)

Okay so I was admittedly pre-occupied with our 'election' at the time, but I was engaged. I was paying attention, and I still missed the big october surprise: a large-scale ddos cyber-hack on the 21st.

:suspicious: Did everybody else catch this?
It was in the business section when (imo) it should've been on the front page everywhere.
Hell it should've been discussed in the presidential debates...

"the attack appears to have relied on hundreds of thousands of internet-connected devices like cameras, baby monitors and home routers that have been infected — without their owners’ knowledge"

It looks like bad storms over like 7 states. Be careful everyone effected. It's around the Great Lakes and Illinois areas. Batten down the hatches everyone, stay safe and have your portable vaporizers charged up and ready to go.

Thanks Carol!

just started hailing and got a tornado warning on my phone so I'm out.

Well, that was fun. The lights flickered a few times but I have power. Possible tornadoes a few miles north and east of me.
Could have been much worse.

Travel tip: Look at the calendar before booking a hotel in the New Orleans French Quarter.

And, don't listen to directions from GPS, the Marriott, or the lady at the visitor center. I did. D'Oh !! Many revelers will remember an idiot with CT plates trying to drive Royal St during frickin Mardi Gras. Talk about the Walking Dead...Had to keep window down to fist bump folks, avoiding car damage.

Never made it to hotel parking, parked half mile away. Again, how could I be so stupid, not watching news for days or looking at calendar.

Today was better -- walking tours and drinking. Now recharging my buzz back in room and posting this for your amusement. Just had absinthe followed by a Hurricane from O'Briens. Feeling fine.

My husband is currently trying to get Virgin Mobile to fix my phone. I've only had the thing a few months, and it looks like the SIM and SD card errors are repeating.

He's a saint. I'd have thrown the phone through the window by now.

I may be changing carriers. No, I am. the agent just hung up on me.
He really is a saint, he might be getting me a new phone...

Edit: and, yes. He got me a new phone. and a refund of this phone, as a credit.
The man is amazing.

The really funny part of this, is I'm in customer service. I hate dealing with customer service because it is my own job....

Now I need to find accessories for my new phone...

This is a tough place to be in, right?
Last week, upgraded from a flip phone to my first smart phone, a black Samsung Galaxy S6. Choosing a case and screen protector from Amazon took hours but was kind of fun. As such things go, I think I got a pretty one that suits me and has some nice dark red in it. Pictured with a silver phone rather than a black one.

AT&T is discontinuing their Address Book syncing and the only way to keep contacts reliably backed up in case of loss or destruction of device was to get a more modern one. Quite a learning curve. :2c:
