Recently I have been experimenting putting whole bud directly inside the bowl without any form of grinding. Just a light pack to allow heat to penetrate evenly.
I got that idea seeing extractions techniques for BHO. Grinding ruins the taste with more plant matter exposed, more chlorophyll and other stuff you don't want leak in the product. Whole bud is better.
When we vape we change the carrier for heat to extract actives and aromas, why not apply the same principles ?
The bud I currently use is not the most dense of all and is very dry so that's a good fit. That's specific conditions. With a conduction vape or rock dense nugs I don't think you can have a good experience that way.
First report : much better taste than the previous ground bowls, big clouds, no popcorn at all.
the directions for my mighty say GRIND my bud. They even gave me a grinder.
the germans who made my mighty make the worlds best vaporizers.
I doubt they would print to grind your bud in the directions and give you a grinder if it wasnt important part of the process

Have you tried NOT grinding? Grinding destroys the Glandular Heads (literally)the directions for my mighty say GRIND my bud. They even gave me a grinder.

Shred with tweezers just once , or even use small chunks...Vape it out of your Mighty.
This method works best with extremely Trichome packed flowers (AAA Grade)
Most of manufacturers directions will instruct to grind to expose more surface area. This will usually increase vapor production, regardless of Flower quality.
Good Flowers + Good Vaporizer = Grinding optional (IMO)
Report back please , I bet you love it.
About 3-4 years ago, a gentleman by the name of Frenchy Canolli told me..

Never grind your buds.
I listened, and never looked back.

The grinder itself my friend...what about a grinder the collects the keef? you wont be losing much
Yes sir... I've never used an EQ, but I believe it may be the same exact basket, did you get a 18mm wand also? If so...This thread is really intriguing me, I love my cannabis so much, I spend weeks nurturing, and caring for my precious plants, then I spent 90 days minimum, on a proper cure, checking daily....
All this hard work and love, then I chuck my frosty nugs into an acrylic grinder and mash up the beauty...
This now seems destructive to me...
I'm trying the tweezer thing tonight...
Will the arizer eq + ddave + d020-d, be able to extract from unground flower?
I don't think it's pure convection, but using a basket load, it can't be far off???
Thanks my friend!@Hashtag46&2 Your pics make me drool! Ever since acquiring the Supreme v3 I have completely stopped grinding! Tried doing the same thing with my Mighty, and both my wife and I are raving about how much SMOOTHER the vapour feels, and the taste is incredible!
I think there really is something about not grinding....sure the clouds may not be as massive, but it just feels like a better purer experience, if the vape can utilize unground material.
Now I just need to find a "connoisseur" way of doing this..... I tried tweezers and meh, wasn't that great. I'm thinking small need nose pliars?
I LOVE this way of using cannabis! I just love the ritual of picking and plucking, instead of grinding, crushing and destroying.
Add to that, I was planning on purchasing a very expensive Kannastor GR8TR grinder, so money in my pocket, and no wrist tendonitis from twisting so much. Win Win!

This is a great post.. I'd like the same combo........................................................................................
I don't grind 90% of the time--pick off the individual calyxes with tweezers. The really good stuff sometimes sticks to the tweezers.
I now have a "ceramic tipped tweezer" on order to try. I'll see how that works.
I'm still looking for some kind of medical grade tweezer or a nice ergo handled scissor with a tiny microtip to cut with precision.
I personally prefer the Pluck... As some rupturing is inevitable with the scissor action. However, much less forgiving than the grinder. What do you connoisseurs think about these little scissors?
Or is it better to pluck with tweezers than to cut?
