PUFFiT portable

Well after 2 full days with my Puffit and 6 bowl sessions. The plasticy taste has diminished but its faintly still there. I even tried wiping things down with ISO. It did help with the plasticy taste a little. I would like to try an ISO soaked pipe cleaner and run it trough the vapor path. But I'm not sure if i can do that until Discreet Vape says it's ok to do so. If you look down into the bowl you can see the silicone tube. I think if you popped the screen out you could then send a pipe cleaner down into the vapor path and out the other end. I was even thinking about unscrewing the three phillips head screws that are holding the Puffit together. I will wait to see what they have to say about cleaning the vapor path first before i void my warranty.

When i first recieved mine i checked the battery status and it was in the green. Right after my first bowl it was in the orange. I never charged it completly when i first got it i was too anxious to try it out. They do say that 80% charged will give you a green light. So maybe that 1 % drop to 79% triggers the orange light. Below 40 or 45% triggers the red light. That could be the reason.

It's hard to tell how many bowls you can get out of one charge since I'm always topping it off after each bowl. I always have it at setting 7 or 8 and i don't see you getting more than 2 sessions out of one charge on either of the 2 settings. IMO i don't think anything below 6 does anything else but increase the battery life. If you leave it at 6 you could probably get 3 sessions out of one charge. But then the hits aren't as good.

The Puffit wont be replacing my daily driver which is my original iolite. But just like the iolite, Whisper, or Davinci sometimes i don't have the 20 or 10 minutes to devote to it. The Puffit is perfect at my job for its stealth. When i just need to take a few quick hits to keep me going. I can save the rest for later if i get too busy to get back to it. The other units i would more than often just leave it burning until i got back to it. Which was wasting a lot of my herb.

I would be giving the Puffit a 9 out of 10 if it wasn't for the plasticy taste. But right now i will be giving this an 8 out of 10.

Dangus

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Conduction vs Convection
Conduction simply means "heat transfer between objects that are touching". And that is exactly what happens in our product. the outside wall of the heating chamber gets hot, the material touching it gets hot and transfers its heat to the material next to it and so on! This is the case with most vaporizers.

So to get the most out of your unit you want to maximize the amount of contact (fill the heat chamber) and maximize the quality of the contact (tamp your blend down to make sure it touches the walls firmly)

There is of course a secondary convection effect, and a radiant effect as well. but conduction is the fastest way to move heat from one object to another! For a demonstration...hover your hand over a 60W Light bulb and you get some radiant heat and some convection heat.... touch the thing and it's suddenly all cursing and running your fingers under cold water! :\

Sounds like conduction to me, with convection playing a more minor role...

Thanks for the link, but based on that link, I'd have to disagree with you. To quote the author (and maker in this case):

"Conduction simply means "heat transfer between objects that are touching". Emphasis able I added, obviously. But I'll stick by my statement, it's a conduction vape. All other effects are secondary and depend on that mode for energy input to the load. The other effects simply transfer the heat around and in fact slow it down in the process.

GAH! My typing fingers betrayed me!

Not to worry, I wonder where they went when they disappeared on me the other day. Looked all over for them....now I know where they went.

Don't feel in any rush to send them back home........I find I'm not really missing them all that much.

beats the possible headache from the plastic taste!

Funny you say that. I did get a headache from the first time i used it. I guess it's that quality food grade silicone from Hong Kong. I wonder if there food grade plastic approved by the FDA is the same as ours. I highly doubt it.

You've waited this long already. It's worth it, minus the plasticy taste

Okay boys and girls. Ordered the fifth of July and was shipped out today. I cannot say anything bad about GV like many of the others here have. Perhaps it's because I didn't phone and bug them every day, but I'm sorry, less than two weeks to ship a very in-demand back ordered item is not too shabby. Let us not be in such a hurry to throw poop at these people. That ruins heir business and makes them grumpy and i don't blame them. I live in Canada and I will report the exact minute it arrives so we can tell how the shipping is. If you want I will even comment on the packaging. And before any poop gets flung at me, I do not work for the company nor do any of my friends or family. Now, if only my pax would come I could do an in-depth comparison. I'm guessing another two weeks.

Hi again Ontariovapes! I firmly believe there is already more-than-adequate poop-flinging going on in the world, and I certainly want no part of it, but I also believe that those who have complained about GV are completely within their (well, our) rights. In my case, I originally started vape-shopping in mid-June. I didn't order the Puffit because the GV site said it wouldn't ship til July and I hoped to get something sooner than that. When July 4 rolled around and I still hadn't decided on anything else, I went to see if the Puffits were shipping as scheduled, and was thrilled to see that they were listed as "In Stock". I ordered at that point, under the mistaken impression that they were no longer in a preorder/backorder/not-coming-straight-to-my-front-door-order situation. Moments later, I got the email notifying me of the backorder. I also noticed that they charged my credit card immediately. This is my first purchase from an online vape retailer, so maybe that's a standard business practice, but most online retailers I deal with (like Amazon, f'rinstance) don't charge me for backordered items until they actually ship. They refunded the money very quickly once I requested the cancellation, but it seemed weird to me that they had already taken the money at all.

I don't think GV is fundamentally evil or anything like that, but it IS true that they misled people. I didn't call them every day, so I wasn't part of the "they told me this week and it still isn't here" group (although I feel for those people and agree with them that this, too, was an...ahem, untruth). My only communication with them was the cancellation email I sent when July was half-over and I was getting better info from this forum than from their website. I completely agree with you that 2 weeks is a reasonable time to wait on a new product...provided that the 2-week wait expectation is clearly established upfront. To say "In Stock", then take my money and say "Whoops! Just kidding! Backorder!" is not cool. I ordered my Pax with 2 or 3 weeks left to wait (can't remember my exact order date), and I don't mind the wait one bit because it clearly states on VapeWorld's site that the units won't ship til August. My issue has nothing to do with the length of the wait, everything to do with honesty and proactive communication on the part of the seller.

I don't leave negative reviews lightly, and I hate to see good businesses smeared online. Maybe this is an anomaly for GV, and their usual service is good as gold! But I can only speak from my personal experience, and it was not good. I feel like it's totally legit for me to share that with other potential customers. They're welcome to believe me or not, choose to order from GV anyway or not - I'm not on an anti-GV campaign or anything. I'm just trying to share my experience with my fellow enthusiasts as respectfully and honestly as I can.

Still very much looking forward to your side-by-side comparison of Puffit vs. Pax (AND still very much looking forward to my Pax :D) Good vibes to you!
:peace:

last friday is what they told me in the first email communication i had. when that day passed it became this friday coming up. now i see people that have ordered after me getting their shipping notices. so take that as it is... i don't know what to think about GV, but i do know that DicreetVape should try and open the avenues of getting the PuffIt out with other online retailers and not just GV.

Reeeeaaalllly..... I ordered mine on July 1st and it has yet to ship. So much for shipping them out in the order they were received.

I retract what I said about Ontariovape, my bad. I skipped to your last paragraph and got the wrong idea (bad habit of mine). After what I read, I wholeheartedly agree 100%.

Update - I called GV and asked what was up with someone who ordered 4 days after I did getting a shipment notification. I was told that he would see if he could get it out either tomorrow or the nest day. Let's see what happens.

Again, if I had been told upfront what the situation was, and if I was told the truth when I called - something better than the "...shipment coming in....order in they were received" feed - then I wouldn't of bothered to call again.

Perhaps the "ass vapor" line was a bit harsh. I must say the dude I spoke with today made me feel much better after hanging up than the lady I kept getting in the past. He did apologize and at least tried to be helpful; even after I let him know that I was a little bit disgruntled.

Yeah, come to think of it, if that Puffit was going to be shipped this week, perhaps not so much any more. This whole situation brought out a side of me that I don't think I really like. I think I need to combust some medicine, seeing as how I CAN'T VAPE I don't really have much of a choice now do I?

Dude hold up! Why am I a "GV mole"?:uhoh: I cancelled my order 2 weeks ago and I'm never ordering from them again! I was trying to be polite in my last post, so maybe it wasn't clear: I am anything BUT endorsing GV. And I don't pretend to speak for Ontariovapes, but he says he's also ordered a Pax, which isn't even available from GV. I don't think he's a mole; he's just expressing his opinion like we all are.

A lot of us are enormously frustrated with this whole mess, but we all want the same thing. I am not a mole! If anything I'm a koala, hiiiiiiiiigh on eucalyptus ;)

Let's make delicious vapor-y clouds, not war!

I hope your order ships soon, man.

I ordered, e-mailed GV some questions after they sent me an email about an order problem, and got the same email in response to my questions. Do they respond to emails?

I think I am going to cancel it. The plastic taste sounds awful and unsafe, this thread is worrying me
